✨ First Anniversary Celebration – St. Thorlak Tumaini Autism Centre, Nanyuki ✨

The St. Thorlak Tumaini Autism Centre, Nanyuki, joyfully celebrated its first anniversary, marking one year of dedicated service, advocacy, and support for autistic individuals and their families.

True to its name - honoring St. Thorlak, the patron saint of autistic people, and Tumaini, the Swahili word for hope - the celebration reflected a growing commitment to building a society where neurodivergent individuals are not only accepted but valued and celebrated.

The Holy Mass was presided over by our Archbishop Anthony Muheria, who, in his homily, called upon Christians to continue growing spiritually, remaining faithful to Christ, and living responsibly as stewards of God's gifts.

Drawing inspiration from St. Justin Martyr, the Archbishop encouraged the faithful to courageously witness to the Gospel through their daily lives, serving others with love, compassion, and dedication.

A touching highlight of the celebration was the sharing of testimonies by parents and caregivers. They spoke openly about the challenges they face, the progress made by their children, and the transformative impact the Centre has had on their families. Many expressed gratitude for the support, hope, and sense of community they have found through the Centre.

The anniversary served as both a celebration of achievements and a renewed commitment to promoting inclusion, dignity, and hope for autistic individuals and their families.

✨ Saturday 30th May 2026 Youth Patrons and Matrons Mass at Quo Vadis Youth Hub ✨

The Youth Patrons and Matrons from across the Archdiocese gathered at Quo Vadis Youth Hub for Holy Mass, presided over by *Archbishop Anthony Muheria, seeking God's guidance as they continue accompanying young people in their journey of faith.

In his homily, the Archbishop reminded them that their gathering was an opportunity to renew their call to service and ask God to rekindle the fire of their mission among the youth.

Drawing from the Letter of St. Jude, he encouraged them to remain steadfast in faith and to be instruments of God's mercy:

"Remember what you have learnt. On those who waver, have mercy; save others by snatching them out of the fire. Keep yourselves in the love of God."

The Archbishop urged the patrons and matrons to help young people grow in their love for God through their hearts, talents, knowledge, and faith. He encouraged them to understand the interests and realities of young people so as to accompany them effectively in discerning and fulfilling God's will.

He reminded them that they are called to be credible witnesses of faith, noting that one cannot give what one does not possess. He challenged them to nurture their own spiritual lives, remain trustworthy, and build relationships where young people feel safe, heard, and valued.

The Archbishop further encouraged them to cultivate a joyful spirituality, one that inspires and encourages rather than condemns.

Reflecting on the words of the Psalmist, "My soul is thirsting for you, O Lord my God," he challenged them to help satisfy the spiritual thirst of young people by deepening their own understanding of the Catholic faith and its teachings.

He concluded by urging them to continually grow in their knowledge of the faith so that they may guide the youth with wisdom, authenticity, and love.

✨ Belated Celebration of Our Lady of Fatima ✨

It was a grace-filled celebration during the belated Feast of Our Lady of Fatima, where our Archbishop Anthony Muheria delivered a powerful and inspiring message to the girls.

Accompanied by the School Chaplain, Rev. Fr. James Wangai, and the Education Secretary, Rev. Fr. Evaristus Maranga, the Archbishop encouraged the students to pursue not only academic excellence but also strong moral character.

He emphasized that academic success cannot stand alone without integrity, *noting* that schools should not only produce high grades, but also form women of virtue, honesty, discipline, and faith.

In his address, the Archbishop reflected on the three Gs Grit, Grace, and Gratitude — encouraging the girls to remain resilient, prayerful, and thankful in their journey of growth.

Drawing inspiration from Mother Mary, he challenged the students to boldly say “Yes” to excellence in academics, faith, and moral values.

The Archbishop also emphasized the importance of character over shortcuts, reminding the girls that lasting success is built on honesty, discipline, and hard work.

Recognizing the pressures facing young women today, he encouraged them to find strength in prayer, remain hopeful, and uplift one another in true sisterhood.

A timely and fatherly message calling the young people to grow in faith, purpose, integrity, and resilience.

✨ Catholic Education Day Celebration ✨

The Archdiocese of Nyeri celebrated Catholic Education Day under the theme:
“Rooted in Faith, Rising with Purpose.”

The Holy Mass was presided over by Archbishop Anthony Muheria, with Prof. Stephen Kiama of the University of Nairobi as the Chief Guest. Also present was Mr. Elijah Omwega, Regional Director – TSC.

In his homily, Archbishop Muheria noted that the gathering was a moment to be re-energized, re-oriented, and realigned in purpose, drawing meaning from the life, death, and resurrection of Christ.

Reflecting on St. Paul’s mission to the Greeks, the Archbishop reminded Christians to courageously defend and live their faith, even when the world may not fully understand it.

Using the example of the honey badger and the honey seeker bird, which work together despite their differences, he emphasized the importance of cooperation between teachers, mentors, parents, and learners in nurturing growth and purpose.

Addressing the learners, he reminded them that they are deeply loved by God and carry great worth and potential.

“You are worth much more than people say. Discover God’s purpose in your life and align yourselves with His will.”

He encouraged them to allow the Holy Spirit to guide them so that they may bring meaning, joy, and hope wherever they go.

In his remarks, Mr. Elijah Omwega described the day as a celebration of hard work, discipline, sacrifice, and commitment, encouraging learners to dream big while remaining grounded in strong values.

On his part, Prof. Stephen Kiama noted that education should focus not only on success but also on understanding and addressing the root causes of learners’ struggles. He emphasized that learners possess immense potential for leadership and academic excellence, but must remain open to guidance from teachers and parents.

“It does not matter where learners were rooted before; what matters is where they are rooted now in faith.”

A beautiful celebration of faith-based education, purpose, and the formation of future leaders.
