✨ Groundbreaking Ceremony of the Green Hydrogen Innovations Centre (GHIC) ✨

The Archdiocese of Nyeri marked a significant milestone with the groundbreaking ceremony of the Green Hydrogen Innovations Centre (GHIC), with our Archbishop Anthony Muheria serving as the Guest of Honour.

The ceremony brought together government representatives, development partners, academia, and other stakeholders who expressed their support for the transformative project.

Mr. Henry Kinyua, National Programme Coordinator, Advancing Climate Resilience and Transformation in Africa Coffee (ACT) Programme, UNIDO Kenya, noted that Hill Farm has the scale, industrial discipline, and convening capacity required to undertake such an ambitious initiative.

Representing the Governor of Nyeri County, Ms. Yvonne Mathenge congratulated the Archdiocese for initiating a project that will have a positive impact on the people and the wider community.

Mr. Ali Mohamed, Special Envoy for Climate Change in the Executive Office of the President, highlighted the environmental damage caused by human activities and called for urgent action to address climate change. He commended the Archdiocese for taking concrete steps towards a more sustainable future.

H.E. Konrad Lax, Deputy Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Kenya, said the project demonstrates Kenya's commitment to opening new pathways for food security and green innovation. He emphasized the indispensable role of green hydrogen and noted that while innovation comes with challenges, sustained collaboration can overcome them.

He described Nyeri Hill Farm as a pillar of the community, emphasizing that the project is not only about technology but, fundamentally, about people.

Prof. Eng. Peter Muchiri, EBS, Vice Chancellor of Dedan Kimathi University of Technology, welcomed the University's partnership with the Archdiocese, noting that the project will provide valuable opportunities for learning, research, and skills development among students.

Hon. Alex Wachira, Principal Secretary, State Department for Energy, described the initiative as an important milestone in moving Kenya's Green Hydrogen agenda from policy to action. He highlighted opportunities for skills development, knowledge transfer, and energy security.

In his remarks, Archbishop Anthony Muheria described the groundbreaking as a significant milestone and a testimony to the solidarity and collaboration of different partners.

Archbishop expressed appreciation for the vision of Pope Francis, particularly through Laudato Si', which calls upon humanity to take greater responsibility for the environment. He thanked all the partners for believing in the Archdiocese and supporting the project.

“We start a long journey that is worth undertaking for the sake of Mother Earth and for the sake of God.”

The GHIC initiative represents the Archdiocese of Nyeri's commitment to environmental stewardship, renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, innovation, and community development, marking a new chapter in the Church's contribution to Kenya's green transition.

Catholic Men Association of Kenya - National Prayer Day

The Catholic Men Association of Kenya National Mass was held at Nyeri High School, bringing together Catholic men for a day of prayer, reflection, and renewal of their Christian vocation.

The Holy Mass was celebrated in the presence of Church leaders and faithful, with the day's readings drawing attention to Mary, the victory of Christ over death, and the call to faithful Christian witness.

In his homily, Archbishop Anthony Muheria challenged Catholic men to overcome fear and remain courageous in their faith. Reflecting on St. Peter's denial of Jesus, he reminded the men that fear can lead even committed Christians away from their convictions.

The Archbishop encouraged men to strengthen their prayer life, urging them to carry their Rosaries—their “Catholic ID card”—and pray without fear or shame. He also encouraged them to carry prayer books and to deepen their relationship with God.

He called upon Catholic men to be people of mercy, courage, forgiveness, and generosity. He encouraged them to approach the Sacrament of Reconciliation regularly, make sincere confessions, resolve to turn away from sin, and learn to forgive both themselves and others.

The Archbishop also cautioned men against excessive alcohol consumption, betting, and gambling, urging them to make responsible choices that strengthen their families and Christian witness.

Using the example of a man who donated blood more than 12,000 times during his lifetime, Archbishop Muheria challenged men to embrace generosity and selfless service. He reminded them that true Christian leadership is founded on the love of Christ, who gave Himself completely for humanity.

The Archbishop further encouraged men to take care of their physical and mental health, particularly by seeking regular medical check-ups, including screening for cancer. He urged anyone facing serious challenges or thoughts of despair to speak out, seek help, and remember that su***de is never the answer.

He reminded the men to remain hopeful despite life's difficulties and to seek the intercession of Mother Mary, especially when faced with trials and temptations.

In his remarks, Bishop Peter Kimani emphasized the need to seek God's power for the transformation of the nation. He also encouraged Catholic men to play an active role in guiding and mentoring Gen Z, particularly as the country approaches the next election period.

Archbishop Muheria also called upon husbands to return home with renewed love for their wives and families, offering them reassurance, affection, and support.

The National Mass concluded with a blessing upon the men and their families, with the faithful encouraged to remain courageous, prayerful, and steadfast in their Christian vocation.
