The Consequences of Sin
Genesis 4:1-16

Let me begin this morning by asking: What does sin do to the human heart? Sin has consequences. Last week we saw how Adam and Eve’s sin found them out. The natural consequences of their sin were a fall from innocence and irreparable damage to their relationship with each other and with God. We also saw God’s judgement on them. He removed his blessing from them, at least in part. The woman was told that the joy of children would be mingled with the pain of childbirth. The man was condemned to living outside the garden—to living in a place where the cultivation of his food would not come easily. And while God did punish their sin, we also saw God extend a measure of grace to Adam and Eve. He created them to be in fellowship with himself and even though they rejected that fellowship, we see that he continued to love them and to want that fellowship restored. He promised them a future Redeemer, who would one day come through the woman’s offspring and we saw him sovereignly turn their hearts away from Satan and back to himself. But was that the end of the effects of sin?

We all know that it obviously was not. In the next few chapters what we’ll see is that despite God’s grace, humanity’s sin problem is actually going to get worse, not better. Yes, God has set the wheels of redemption in motion, but in the meantime the Serpent still has power and will subject humanity to his will. In fact, we’ll see two lines here. We’ll see the line—the seed or offspring—of the woman, a line in which God will graciously work to bring about the Redeemer. And we’ll see the line—the seed or offspring—of the serpent, a line of people who ally themselves with sin and with Satan and in whom sin will only get worse and worse. The story set these two lines up in Chapter 3. Now in Chapter 4 we’ll see them actually take shape. Look with me at verses 1 and 2.

Continuation of our study on man.

CONSEQUENCES OF SIN;

The ultimate—and severest—consequence of sin is death. The Bible says that “the wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23). This not only refers to physical death, but to eternal separation from God: “But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear” (Isaiah 59:2). This is the foremost consequence of man’s rebellion against God.

Yet, Though God loves us, His holiness is such that He cannot live with evil. The prophet Habakkuk describes God this way: “Your eyes are too pure to look on evil; you cannot tolerate wrong” (Habakkuk 1:13). God does not ignore our sin. On the contrary, “you may be sure that your sin will find you out” (Numbers 32:23). Even those secret sins we hide in the recesses of our hearts will one day be brought to light: “Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of Him to whom we must give account” (Hebrews 4:13).

Paul made it abundantly clear that sin has consequences: “Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows” (Galatians 6:7). Paul then describes the end of those who indulge in sinful behavior: “The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction” (Galatians 6:8). The phrase “sinful nature” refers to one’s unregenerate, shameless self. Though the sin nature may promise fulfillment, it can

Let's focus on the FALL OF MAN in our study tonight.

Often when Christians think of the first sin, they think of Adam and Eve and the Fall in the Garden of Eden. While this is indeed the first human sin, it is not the first recorded sin in Scripture. As Christians, we know that the serpent tempted Eve, but we often forget that the devil’s fall from grace was what set the stage for humankind’s fall, both as antecedent and type.

Today on Bible study;
God's plan for man.
Why did God create human being? What was the importance of man in his creation?
..So let us look at Genesis 1. We read here about the time when God made different things on this earth. Each day He made something new. But whenever He made any of the things, He never told us the purpose with which He made them. For example, on the first day He created light. What is the purpose? Well, we don't know. We can guess, but God never said what the reason was. The next day, He created the heavens. No purpose mentioned. The following day He created the dry lands, and the plants and the trees, no purpose mentioned there and so on. And also with the animals, the fish and the birds! But when it came to making man, finally, before He even started making man He said, "Let us make man in Our image according to Our likeness. And let them rule over the fish in the sea or the birds on the sky."

So we see the first purpose with which God created man was that man should show forth the likeness of God. That means if man moved around, you could see what God was like, because God is a Spirit and invisible. God wanted His character to be manifested through a created being. Now, in an earlier study, we had considered how God had made the angels before He made man. But there is no evidence in the Bible that God made the angels in His image. No angels could manifest the likeness of God. That is a unique privilege that God gave to man. Man was made in the likeness of God to show forth God's own image and character.

Today's Bible study:
WHY DID GOD CREATE HUMAN? .......
Let's study in comments section!
.One of the most persistently vexing and hard-to-grasp questions humanity faces is: Why Did God Create Us? Our thoughts get bewildered, and our natural wonder deepens as we probe into the beginnings of the world’s and the universe’s creation. We also ponder, “What is my purpose in life?” Frequently, our limited intellect exposes our dependence on our flawed minds and the five senses to decipher the reality of our being.

But the secret is laid bare in our intricate design and the marvel of nature that surrounds us. There must be a God—a Master Craftsman who can, at His very will, create us from “out of the ground” and bestow His holy purpose on our lives.

So who is God, According to the Bible?

John 4:24 - God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”

John 3:16 - “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

Numbers 23:19 - God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?

Exodus 3:14 - God said to Moses, “I am who I am.” And he said, “Say this to the people of Israel: ‘I am has sent me to you.’”

1 John 4:16 - So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.

Revelation 1:8 - “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”

God Is More Than We Can Know

5. God Is Omnipotent

When we think about who God is, we can’t finish before we talk about Him as all-knowing (omniscient). This doesn’t mean God knows all the facts in the universe. Well, that’s true; He does, but God knows much, much more.

Remember phone books? A million facts, but none that could change your life. By themselves, facts are just facts. God not only has all knowledge but also has all-discernment, all-insight, all-understanding, all-wisdom, and “way-above-our-heads” ways.

The Lord puts it this way: “‘For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,’ declares the LORD. ‘As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts’” (Isaiah 55:8-9).

In other words, “God alone knows” multiplied by eternity and infinity.
