Clarifying Revival Misconceptions.

The assumption that loud emotional music indicates revival in modern churches is incorrect. Music alone, regardless of emotional resonance, does not constitute revival unless connected to the Trinity, evoking brokenness and intimacy.
True revival features a distinctive sound that aligns with spiritual occurrences and facilitates prophetic worship, differing from emotionally charged music lacking spiritual depth and transformative power.

Hindrances against Revival part 9.

Oooh Come See what I’ve done..

This is the spirit of pride. When God dispenses His graces He does it in generosity and in abundance. Miracles , signs , wonders, healings and favor results in revival. When this happens people start getting attracted to the man or woman carrying the revival. It’s at this point that the person that God is using may start to think that it’s their prayers , obedience, holiness or any other habit that has made them to be used of God. Pride steps in.
The Bible says in Prov 8:13 “To fear the Lord is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance......” These are the two spirits that hence takes over.
Prov 16:5 says “The Lord detests all the proud of heart. Be sure of this : They will not go unpunished”.
This temptation will show up to anyone who is making impact in the spiritual realm. Apostle John called it the pride of life. “For all that is in the world, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father.”1Jn 2:16.
The devil knows the scriptures. He understands that God cannot continue to use the proud. James says,“ God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble. James 4:6. When God starts to lift you in any dimension just remember what Prophet Jeremiah says “ this is what the Lord says: let not the wise boast of their wisdom or the strong of their strength or the rich boast of their riches. Jer 9:23. Many revivals have been aborted by this spirit. Let’s abide in the place of intimacy with our Lord. This is where the self cannot thrive.

Lack of Revival Mentors.

In the book of Joshua we read “ Yet there shall be a space between and it, about three thousand cubits by measure. Do not come near it, that you may know the way by which way you must go, for you have not passed this way before “Josh 3:4.

I now want to talk about one the reasons why Revival fails. Joshua spoke to the Israelites who he was leading to a new territory and told them several things. This is the same as we find in Revival .
Revival is always a new thing with new experiences. This means no one has masterly on Revival . Even when some people could have tasted an earlier revival yet any given revival comes with something new that it injects into the Christian faith. This leaves any given revival with lack of specialized mentors. All people learn along the way. That is why the first instruction to Joshua was Obedience.

Failure to follow the Spirit then means an end to revival. Mentoring a revival puts specific demands on sensitivity, purity, soaking moments, and knowledge of scriptures to make sure heresy and deception is eliminated...
In obvious scenarios people give themselves to seek God for His Presence without an expectation of what may actually become of it.
In that verse were special instructions .
a) Not get near the ark of covenant. The ark stood for Gods presence. People tend to get used to anything they encounter for a long time. Getting used to God and His presence means we will not take the new directives seriously and worse still we may not be in a position to hear what God is saying.
b) Familiarity will mean we will not not be keen to follow Him. Familiarity will bring a situation where we carelessly intermingle with Gods presence while ignoring His guidance.

Lack of revival mentors has made revivals over the ages to die. In actual fact birthing a revival is not as difficult as steering it ahead. You may be surprised if I tell you that some of the revivals merely survive one month. Mini revivals happen everywhere but as long as there is nobody who understands the dimensions of revivals then expect a burial service soonest. Good Will is not enough but thorough knowledge and sensitivity to the leading of the Holy Ghost is mandatory. Jesus said we need to pray for laborers to be sent to the field. I challenge you that before asking for revival ask God to prepare mentors with knowledge, spiritual maturity and people who are humble and willing to pay the price so that the revival will seeking for may last .

The Better Demon Syndrome.

Allow me to show one of the silent killers of revival. I call it the better demon. This is when saints want to settle at what is socially and religiously acceptable. We say being socially and religiously correct.
In search Of revival dignity is not among the choices. But when revival breaks there is a demon instigated mindset that takes the center stage. This is when the very people who were seeking for revival feel that some of the things happening in revival are below their class. While I don’t entertain extremism and overboard fanaticism but the truth remains that revival sometimes look messy. On the day Of Pentecost people who were in the upper room after receiving spiritual encounter were dubbed drunkards and many thought they had become lunatics.
There are people who will not come to terms with long worship moments, extended services, and even spiritual manifestation. They would term each of these as fanatical. The Church in Corinth was in great revival but a keen look at the things that were happening inside one would describe it as spiritual extremism. Yet it’s in this church that spiritual gifts were manifested in their fullest.
While we would like to move in the very noble gift of discerning of spirits it’s also important to understand that it does not work in seclusion. Where the Spirit of God is allowed to manifest fully you’ll always find the manifestation of the nine gifts of the Spirit. Demons must manifest when the fire descends. The abandonment of the centers of revival in favor of quiet, dignified and socially acceptable cathedrals is what I call the Better Demon Syndrome. This demon preaches a very educative sermon by saying
a) It’s not important to pray long Prayers .
b) You must not pray in tongues to be spiritual and better still never in public.
c) Long and tiring Praise and Worship is time wasting . A hymn or two is enough.
d) Getting comfortable with programs, orderliness and social gospel at the expense of Gods presence and glory. And these sermons from this demon are many ..
Could you be a captive of this spirit ? If You believe in a Mighty God why are you uncomfortable when He’s doing His mighty works? Beware of the “Better Demon Syndrome... “

Hindrances against Revival Pt 6
Spirit of Error

I believe you’re learning important lessons from these series on Revival. I feel I will not have achieved my goal if I don’t talk about the Spirit of error. But before I do that I want to say that we have men of God out there who have chosen the path to deceive. These are crooks(sorry to address them this way) who know what they are doing and have decided to live their lives that way. Some of them go to demonic altars seeking of powers to control their followers. This is one of the worst case scenario as far as deception is concerned.
However I want to talk about the men of God who are sincerely seeking the truth but along the way they find themselves with an angel of darkness masquerading as the angel of light . This is where we find the spirit of error . While the first is pure deception the second scenario is error. Deception is described as an act or a trick used to get what someone want. It’s a misleading thing and purely falsehood. But in the case of error the people who are caught up in this trap think they have the gospel of truth . In actual fact you’ll never convince them that the visions they see, voices they hear, directives they get or even revelations that they receive are not from God. The spirit of error happens to be on the lookout when people give themselves to seek more of God. Paul said that they have a zeal for God but not according to knowledge. Apostle John urged us to test every spirit. Believing everything said blindly is the simplest way to be part of the error. Threats that sound so spiritual like “ do not touch the anointed of God” should never be adhered to when one notices the spirit of error. Show me a cult and I will show you the spirit of error in its fullness.

The Lure Of Power and Fame .

Have you ever thought of people becoming users of God? Being a user is when men want to use God to gain favors , money and power while ignoring intimacy with him and his Process ..
The tendency in many ppl after revival breaks forth is to use what God is doing for their own benefit. Instead of using the move to lift up Jesus or expanding the Kingdom they make every effort to gain Fame and power. This is what I call the lure of fame and power. Let’s look at what happened with Jesus . The Bible in Mat 4 explains the temptation of Jesus. In verse 8 Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. 9 “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.”
Jesus faced the same temptation. Are you seeking for revival ? Be armed with this truth that immediately it springs forth, the first visitor will be the devil. He’ll not be coming for the a divine experience. No! but to lure you to seek what is not. Beware of the desire to be powerful and famous. Humility is not only important in revival but a mandatory component if revival was to last. The underlying fact is that God is the promoter of His own and he does it at His own time and methodology. Be a servant and steward in revival but not a user of what God is doing to build yourself a name and fame .....

Doctrine vs Revelation.
Good things may not necessarily be right. Something can be good and right at one time only to be good but not right in another moment. Familiarity and desire to establish systems is a dangerous thing in Revival. Humans feel safe in comfort locations . This is a dangerous thing.
Jesus did many things and performed miracles in different methods. But rarely did he do the same thing same way twice . The desire to want to create a methodology out of an inspiration or spiritual encounter is dangerous. In revival God may just do something once and never to repeat the same again. The fact that the Spirit inspired one to pray for the sick using Oil today does not make it a doctrine . The fact that one casted a demon through a shout does not mean that shouting must become the order of the day. Some demons may be so dumb and the only language they can hear is that of fire which may not necessarily be spoken or shouted but released thro faith. The moment we form doctrines from a spiritual experience we block the freshness and the sanctity of the Spiritual move. Doctrines should be curved from the written Word not a one day spiritual encounter. Imagine someone praying and having a spectacular experience while taking a shower and then urges us to always get into a shower when we need a spiritual encounter. That would be crazy. But many things we see people doing today fall in the same category. Using an encounter to form a doctrine. The ultimate result is that the Spirit leaves and people remain with the methodology they’ve adopted. And it becomes a cult in the making .

Hindrances to Revival pt 3.

The next major hindrance against revival is emotionalism and the flesh. The flesh and the Spirit are two worlds apart. When Revival breaks some things are purely responses out of the flesh.
The works of the flesh are clearly spelled out in Gal 5:21-22. The enemy is so canning that when the Revival is birthed in the spirit the tendency is to shift to the flesh. It’s interesting that many people do not notice the work of the flesh. In actual fact flesh in Revival masquerades as the work of the Spirit.
It’s not a wonder that you’ll see a Revival starting and hence get a pll trying to steer it ahead thro works of the flesh like :-
a) Trying to manifest miracles without the grace
b) Faking the Prophetic
c) Copy pasting a past or another Revival in a different location .
d) The Spirit Of pride and arrogance taking center stage
e) Allowing familiar spirits and divination to produce acts similar to those of the Spirit .
e) Using the so called move of God to intimidate, control and manipulate the Saints moreso in the area of giving .
f) Allowing the spirit of independence to take over hence refusing accountability to spiritual authority.
g) Demonic deception to use items in the name of Prophetic Prayers like salt, Holy waters, holy baths etc . This list is endless . All this is emotionalism and the flesh in display . Before you’re excited by manifestations in any move ask God to enable you to apply the fruit of the spirit called “ Discerning Of spirits “
