REPORTED BY BROTHER TOM OPONDO
Kenya 🇰🇪 Gospel Chariot Missions and Gembe Church of Christ were the real host for the Women’s conference from close to a hundred congregations within Southern Nyanza. The ladies came from Migori and Homa Bay counties with invited speakers from Siaya and Kisumu counties. The theme for the Women Conference is extracted from Philippians 1:27. Key segments for the 4 days is according to Phillipians 1:27 “Meanwhile, live in such a way that you are a credit to the Message of Christ. Let nothing in your conduct hang on whether I come or not. Your conduct must be the same whether I show up to see things for myself or hear of it from a distance. Stand united, singular in vision, contending for people’s trust in the Message, the good news, not flinching or dodging in the slightest before the opposition. Your courage and unity will show them what they’re up against: defeat for them, victory for you—and both because of God . . .” Great message for the conference.
As Gospel Chariot fraternity, we had to make early preparations for the trip to Gembe Church of Christ near Sindo Town. We had to repair the roof top of the chariot truck. It has been leaking terribly. As we are now in rainy season, sealing the leakages was the best act. Again, we had to work on the lighting system for the truck.
For us Gembe congregation is placed strategically to help launch into the Kaksingri community, Mfangano Islands, and the entire Subaland on th shores of Lake Victoria. We agreed to the invitation to share the gospel to the Island communities. We pray church plants will be a possible reality.
That said, we are grateful to the Women leadership and the Gembe Church for a well coordinated conference and the attendance was close to 150 Christian women. Thanks to the men-evangelists who were available for this mission. May the Lord bless South Nyanza.
God is praised!
Tom Opondo.
