Located in the heart of Nairobi's Central Business District, Imtiaz Sunni Masjid serves about 1,000 worshippers every Jummah. The original Masjid was built by Sayyid Imtiaz Ali Shah between 1904-1906 on the plot allocated to him . After independence, the Masjid was dismantled, however, and a substantial portion of the land was grabbed to construct a hotel. The Masjid was later reconstructed using

iron sheets on the portion of prime land it currently sits on. Commonly referred to as "Mskiti wa Mabati" in Kiswahili, the mosque remains in this rudimentary form; putting it at great risk of being torn down once again and grabbed. Your help is urgently needed to help protect and preserve this heritage Mosque before it is too late.
