What do you Consider?
“And not being weak in faith, he did not consider his own body . . .” (Rom. 4:19)
What we consider is called “meditation”. Abraham chose to not meditate on his biological condition and let it rule over the promise of God. Whether we know it or not, our hearts are always considering something. The heart is where choices are made, and destinies are formed.
For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. (Prov. 23:7)
Regardless of the challenges of this world, and the challenges in our lives, we have the capacity to choose what we will consider. In a perfect world with no sin, Adam and Eve considered the words of the enemy and changed human destiny. We now live with the results of that choice, and we are faced with what we will choose to consider. You can consider the darkness of the world and be depressed, or you can consider the glory of God’s love and be established in faith. The circumstances won’t necessarily disappear, but you will grow in your faith to overcome.
“A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things.” (Mt. 12:35)
Your future will be shaped by what your heart considers. We are all bringing forth something daily. Some bring forth fear, worry, anger, and lust. Others bring forth patience, faith, love, and kindness. In each case the future is being created, words are being spoken, and actions and reactions are changing the atmosphere of our lives.
Paul made it very clear when by the Holy Spirit he said: “whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.” (Phi. 4:8)
What could your life be like if your heart and mind were filled with things true and pure? Can you see yourself living from a place of His peace and faith? It’s possible if you will choose to consider it.What do you Consider?
