RCCG HOUSE FELLOWSHIP MANUAL 24 DECEMBER 2023

TOPIC: FOR SUCH A TIME AS THIS

Memory Verse: Esther 4:16
“…and so will 1 go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and ifl perish, I perish. “

Bible Text: Esther 4:10-14
10 Again Esther spake unto Hatach, and gave him commandment unto Mordecai;

11 All the king’s servants, and the people of the king’s provinces, do know, that whosoever, whether man or women, shall come unto the king into the inner court, who is not called, there is one law of his to put him to death, except such to whom the king shall hold out the golden sceptre, that he may live: but I have not been called to come in unto the king these thirty days.

12 And they told to Mordecai Esther’s words.

13 Then Mordecai commanded to answer Esther, Think not with thyself that thou shalt escape in the king’s house, more than all the Jews.

14 For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father’s house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?

LESSON INTRODUCTION
In this time in which we are (presently), a lot of demonic activities are in operation and children of God are dropping their guards. Every believer should know that they are in a particular position to effect divine plans and establish reigns for Christ.

Daniel in the land of Babylon knew why he was there. He was not there to eat the king’s food but to enthrone righteousness and silence all evil operations in that land.

Daniel 1:8 talked of his firm refusal to lose focus in such a time as this. May the Almighty God help us to know the importance of the present time in which we are.

UNDERSTANDING THE TIME
Let’s look at the time we are in:

a. Perilous time – 2 Timothy 3:1.

b. Time, full of hatred, self-centredness – Gen, 27:41; 37:18-20,

с. Time of ingratitude – Judges 15:18-19.

d. Time of pains, affliction and abandonment. Num. 14:43; Deut. 32:15.

e. Time of worshipping of Mammon. Matt. 6:24; Luke 16:11.

f. Time of laziness, less work but anticipating more gains, c.g. Yahoo boys.

WHAT ARE THE TOOLS REQUIRED TO UNDERSTAND AND WIN IN THIS TIME?
I. The Word of God – Psalms 119:105.

ii. The hearing ear and seeing eye – Proverbs 20:12

iii. Living in holiness – 1 Peter 1:15-16.

iv. Following peace with people – Hebrews 12:14.

v. Grieving not the Holy Spirit – Ephesians 4:30.

MAKING THE BEST USE OF THE TIME
To make best use of time means investing in your time positively, engaging in activities that provide a high fulfilment to someone and others around you.

Develop your mental capacity and inner virtue.
Keep a time diary to access your daily time usage.
Cut off activities that make your time unyielding and unfulfilling.
Think positively on what matters and on things that are profitable.
Know that there is time for everything and time used positively brings gain.
BIBLICAL EXAMPLES OF THOSE WHO UTILISED THEIR TIME WELL
1. Esther rescued the Jews from Haman’s plot – Esther 7:10.

2. Moses delivered Israelites from bo***ge of 430 years- Exo. 3.

3. Elisha destroyed the curse that caged a nation for ycars – Judges 6:26. 1 Kings 2:22

4. David deployed his ability to win and stop humiliation of 40 days – 1 Sam, 17:16

5. Jesus came to save the whole world – Matt. 18:11: Luke 19:10.

CONCLUSION:
“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:”
Eccl 3:1.

Therefore every creature needs to maximise the portion of time given to them to bring fruitful results – Ecclesiastes 3:1-8.

PRAYER POINTS
Lord, please give us an understanding of time like the children of Issachar.
Father, help Your church to be sensitive to Your timing.

Lord, in Your mercy destroy every time waster over our lives.
Father, in Your mercy restore all that the church has lost because she was not sensitive to divine timing in Jesus name.
Father, help us to do that which we are supposed to do for such a time as

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL

DATE: THURSDAY DECEMBER 28TH 2023

TOPIC: TALK IS CHEAP

MEMORISE:
"The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach." - (Acts 1:1)

READ: MATTHEW 23:1-7 (KJV)

1 Then spake Jesus to the multitude, and to his disciples,

2 Saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat:

3 All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not.

4 For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers.

5 But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments,

6 And love the uppermost rooms at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues,

7 And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi.

MESSAGE:

Talk is cheap. I have seen countless people talk about things that are good, but when it comes to practicing them, they are nowhere to be found. There are many Pastors who preach 'powerful' sermons on the altar, but at home, they don't practice what they preach. Talk is cheap, that is why only cheap people stay on the level of talk.

If I tell someone that over-speeding when driving is unsafe and then I do the same, does the fact that I talk about it exempt me from its consequences? If you talk about prayer so well and you don't pray, all the problems that follow prayerlessness will keep following you. This is why we see many people who are sound in Scriptures, yet the word of God does not seem to be yielding anything in their lives. Many a time, it is because they only know the Scriptures, they don't live by it.

The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach. - Acts 1:1

The above passage shows how Jesus lived. He first 'did' before He 'taught'. If you have not yet done that thing, you have no business teaching it. If it is really valuable as you claim it is, then you should do it first. We who teach the gospel must note what James 3:1 says that teachers will receive the strictest judgement. This is because if you teach it, God expects you to have already been doing it. When you teach what you don't do, that is hypocrisy. There are many people who are derailed when they see a teacher of the word not practicing what he or she preaches. May people not go to hell because you showed them the wrong example, in Jesus' name. Matthew 18:6 says:

But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.

If you really believe what you teach, practice it. If you cannot practice it, stop teaching it.

KEY POINT:
Merely talking about something does not accrue its benefits to you. Practicing it is what does.

HYMNAL: 3 - ANCIENT WORDS

1. Holy words long preserved,
For our walk in this world,
They resound with God's own heart;
Oh, let the ancient words impart.

REFRAIN:
Ancient words, ever true,
Changing me and changing you,
We have come with open hearts;
Oh, let the ancient words impart.

2. Words of life, words of hope,
Give us strength, help us cope,
In this world, where e'er we roam;
Ancient words will guide us home.

3. Holy words of our faith,
Handed down to this age,
Came to us through sacrifice;
Oh, heed the faithful words of Christ.

4. Holy words long preserved,
For our walk in this world,
They resound with God's own heart;
Oh, let the ancient words impart.
