A novice does not know that wounds and scars open the way for you to become a man of authority. What have you survived! What have you been through! A novice is sad because of his wounds and suffering. A person who is not a novice knows that the wounds, hurts, bad experiences of life are credentials of a true general of the Lord.
Jacob conferred on Joseph the blessing of fruitfulness because he was a survivor.
Joseph is a fruitful bough, even a fruitful bough by a well; whose branches run over the wall: The archers have sorely grieved him, and shot at him, and hated him: But his bow abode in strength, and the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the mighty God of Jacob; (from thence is the shepherd, the stone of Israel:) Even by the God of thy father, who shall help thee; and by the Almighty, who shall bless thee with blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep that lieth under, blessings of the breasts, and of the womb: The blessings of thy father have prevailed above the blessings of my progenitors unto the utmost bound of the everlasting hills: they shall be on the head of Joseph, and on the crown of the head of him that was separate from his brethren.
Genesis 49:22-26
Jacob saw that Joseph had survived arrows, spears, swords, hurts and wounds. Many things had been thrown at Joseph. His brothers had been treacherous. His brothers had been liars. His brothers were murderers. His brothers were evildoers. He became the reporter of the sins of his big brothers. Joseph lost all his friends because he was doing the right thing. Joseph was rejected by his brothers! Joseph was hated by his brothers, yet he survived!
His father declared that he would be fruitful. His surviving and overcoming wounds of betrayal and rejection made him the best candidate to receive the blessings of the heavens above, the blessings of the deep and the blessings of the womb.
