This serves as a reminder that we must leave out what we speak and believe in order to be people of substance.

James 2:1-4 📖
1My brothers and sisters, believers in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ must not show favoritism. 
2 Suppose a man comes into your meeting wearing a gold ring and fine clothes, and a poor man in filthy old clothes also comes in.
 3 If you show special attention to the man wearing fine clothes and say, “Here’s a good seat for you,” but say to the poor man, “You stand there” or “Sit on the floor by my feet,”
 4 have you not discriminated among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts?”

This serves as a reminder that as believers of Christ we are not to judge or show favouritism among ourselves.

Benjamin Franklin that says two things are sure in this life, death and taxes, but there is a third one, trial.

In this life, trials and hardships are sure. Trials come to us, they are a reality in this world. They are not a surprise to the Christian life, they are part of the design of the Christian life.

When we think about trials, there’s a temptation for us to think that the troubles of this life do happen because God probably is not in charge.But the book of James helps us in our perspective because James reminds us, and as he writes this letter, that God is absolutely in charge. Listen to how he speaks of God’s sovereignty. God’s sovereignty is a word that basically says ,God is in charge.
