ANCIENT WORDS DEVOTION

THE DESPERATE HEART

SCRIPTURE
PSALM 63:1 — O God, You are my God; Early will I seek You; My soul thirsts for You; My flesh longs for You In a dry and thirsty land Where there is no water.

DEVOTION
This is the cry of a pursuing heart. David was not driven by convenience but by desperation for God. He sought God early—not just in the morning, but first in priority. Before answers, before strength, before direction—he sought God.

Spiritual dryness does not end by activity; it ends by encounter. When God becomes our first pursuit, thirst turns into satisfaction. Seeking God early is a declaration: nothing else will take His place. Those who seek Him first will never lack what they truly need.

God is calling His people back to intentional pursuit—before the day fills up, before distractions speak, before strength runs out.

PRAYER:
O God, stir our hearts to seek You early and earnestly. Awaken our hunger and draw us into deeper pursuit of Your presence. Be our first desire, today and always. In Jesus Christ’s Name. Amen.

ANCIENT WORDS DEVOTION

RETURNING TO OUR FIRST LOVE

SCRIPTURE
REVELATION 2:4 — But I have this against you: You have abandoned the love you had at first.

DEVOTION
Jesus speaks not to strangers, but to a people who were active, disciplined, and enduring—yet something vital was missing. They had not stopped working, but they had stopped loving first. Their devotion continued, but their affection had cooled.

Leaving first love does not happen suddenly; it happens quietly. Routine replaces passion, duty replaces delight, and service replaces intimacy. The tragedy is not that love was rejected—but that it was neglected.

God is not calling His people to do more, but to love rightly again. First love is marked by hunger, tenderness, obedience, and delight in His presence. When first love is restored, everything else is reordered.

PRAYER:
Lord, forgive us where our love has grown cold. Draw us back to our first love and restore the fire of devotion in our hearts. Let our walk with You be marked by love before labor. In Jesus Christ’s Name. Amen.

🔥SUNDAY MESSAGE EXCERPT | GAC🔥

THEME: WALKING WITH GOD
Genesis 5:21–24 | Hebrews 11:6

Walking with God is not an activity—it is a devotion. To walk with Him is to give Him your whole attention. Devotion answers one critical question: Who truly has your heart?

Throughout Scripture, we see men who walked with God with a single eye, despite their busyness, influence, and responsibility.

1. David cried, “One thing have I desired of the Lord” (Psalm 27:4).

2. Moses prayed, “Show me Your glory” (Exodus 33).

3. Jesus, though ministering daily, withdrew nightly to pray (Luke 21).

4. Paul, after over 25 years of ministry, still declared, “That I may know Him” (Philippians 3:10).

Devotion means to be apprehended—to be mastered by what you love. Whatever has captured you has claimed you.

This is a call to the Church to return to one love. Idols have been exalted in the house of God, and they must fall. Idols of men and titles, entertainment, ministry, culture, and money have subtly replaced intimacy with God. Like Dagon falling before the Ark, every idol must bow before the Lord of Glory.

God invites us into fellowship with Himself. He must not be replaced. He is not merely the center—He is the all in all. In Him we live, move, and have our being. We must lay down our idols, denounce, renounce, and repent, and return to our first love.

If Christ is worth living for, He is worth dying for.

The great issue God had with Israel was idolatry—it led them into exile. And so the call remains today, echoing the Shema:

“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one… You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.” — Deuteronomy 6:4–5

Let us come back.
A BLESSED NEW MONTH

ANCIENT WORDS DEVOTION

THE INCOMPARABLE LOVE OF GOD

SCRIPTURE
SONG OF SOLOMON 1:4 — ...We will remember Your love more than wine.

DEVOTION
God’s love is incomparable. Wine speaks of earthly pleasure, temporary joy, and passing satisfaction—but the love of the Lord surpasses them all. Those who have tasted His love are marked by it; nothing else competes with its depth or power.

To remember His love is to live consciously aware of His faithfulness, mercy, and nearness. When God’s love becomes our highest affection, lesser desires lose their grip. His love strengthens us in trials, anchors us in obedience, and fuels our pursuit of Him.

God is calling His people to value His love above every other affection. What we remember most will shape what we pursue most.

PRAYER:
Lord, let Your love be our greatest delight. Help us to remember and treasure Your love above all else. Keep our hearts anchored in You. In Jesus Christ’s Name. Amen.

ANCIENT WORDS DEVOTION

INTO THE KING'S SECRET CHAMBERS

SCRIPTURE
SONG OF SOLOMON 1:4 — The King has brought me into His chambers.

DEVOTION
The chambers speak of private access, a place beyond the crowd and away from noise. This is where intimacy is formed and affection is deepened. God does not only call us to pursue Him publicly—He invites us into personal fellowship.

Those whom God draws, He also brings closer. The chambers are reserved for hearts that respond to His call, that value His presence above performance. In this place, identity is affirmed, and purpose is clarified. What is birthed in the chambers sustains what is seen in the open.

God is calling His people back—not to platforms, but to presence; not to visibility, but to intimacy.

PRAYER:
King of glory, bring us into Your chambers. Separate us from distractions and draw us into deeper fellowship with You. Let our lives be shaped by intimacy with Your presence. In Jesus Christ’s Name. Amen.

ANCIENT WORDS DEVOTION

THE DAWNING POWER OF GOD

SCRIPTURE
SONG OF SOLOMON 1:4 — Draw me away! We will run after you.

DEVOTION.
True pursuit of God begins with a response to His drawing. Before we run after Him, He draws our hearts by His love and presence. This is the mystery of intimacy—God initiates, and we respond with surrender and pursuit.

To be drawn by God is to be awakened from spiritual complacency. When He draws us, delay disappears and obedience becomes joyful. We do not walk casually after Him—we run. Love fuels pursuit, and hunger sustains it.

God is drawing His people again—not into noise, but into nearness; not into activity, but into intimacy.

🛐PRAYER:
Lord, draw us closer to You. Awaken our hearts and cause us to run after You with undivided devotion. Pull us deeper into Your presence. In Jesus Christ’s Name. Amen.

ANCIENT WORDS DEVOTION

THE CALL TO DRAW NEAR TO GOD

🪔SCRIPTURE
JAMES 4:8 — Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.'

DEVOTION
We often fail to draw near to God not because He is distant, but because our hearts become divided. God remains willing and present, yet distractions, busyness, and misplaced priorities quietly create distance.

Many times, activity replaces intimacy, familiarity dulls hunger, and self-reliance weakens our pursuit. At other times, we hesitate to draw near because= God’s presence demands surrender and change. Nearness exposes what must be corrected, and the flesh resists that light.

God is not withholding Himself—He is waiting for our response.

PRAYER:
Lord, search our hearts and remove whatever keeps us at a distance. Draw us back into close fellowship with You. In Jesus Christ's Name. Amen.

THE POSTURE OF A PURSUING HEART

SCRIPTURE
PSALM 63:1 — O God, You are my God; Early will I seek You; My soul thirsts for You; My flesh longs for You In a dry and thirsty land Wher there is no water.

DEVOTION
David reveals the posture of a pursuing heart: priority. Seeking God early is not about time alone—it is about order. God is not an afterthought or a last resort; He is the beginning. Those who seek Him early place Him first in affection, attention, and devotion.

This is a call to restore first love and first pursuit. What you seek first will shape your day, your decisions, and your destiny. If God is delayed, everything else takes control. Rise early in spirit. Return to the secret place. Let hunger lead you back to God before the noise begins.

PRAYER:
Lord, stir our hunger for You. Teach us to seek You early and place You first in all things. Draw us deeper into Your presence. In Jesus Christ's Name. Amen.

THE PURSUING HEART

SCRIPTURE
HOSEA 6:3 — Let us know, Let us pursue the knowledge of the LORD. His going forth is established as the morning; He will come to us like the rain, Like the latter and former rain to the earth.

DEVOTION
Knowing God is not a moment—it is a pursuit. Hosea makes it clear: revelation belongs to those who press on. God reveals Himself progressively to hearts that refuse to stop seeking. Stagnation in pursuit leads to dryness, but persistence leads to encounter.

This is not the time to slow down spiritually. God is calling His people beyond casual devotion into deliberate pursuit. Yesterday’s encounters are not enough for today’s demands. If you stop pressing, you stop growing. Press past familiarity. Press past comfort. Press on to know the LORD, and He will reveal Himself in power.

PRAYER:
Lord, give us grace to press on in the pursuit of knowing You. Deliver us from spiritual complacency and lead us into deeper revelation. In Jesus Christ's Name. Amen.

ANCIENT WORDS DEVOTION

THE DEEPEST LONGING OF THE HEART

SCRIPTURE
PHILIPPIANS 3:10 — I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead. I want to suffer with him, sharing in his death,

DEVOTION
Paul’s greatest pursuit was not success, position, or comfort—it was to know Christ. In a world that celebrates achievement, Paul reduced his life to one holy ambition: intimacy with Jesus. Knowledge of Christ was not information, but revelation born from pursuit.

The longing in Paul's heart, is a call to us to walk away from shallow Christianity. To know Him demands surrender, separation, and devotion. Power without intimacy is dangerous, and activity without revelation is empty. If knowing Christ is not your pursuit, your walk will lack depth and authority. Count all else as loss, and pursue the knowledge of Him above all things.

PRAYER:
Lord, ignite in us a deeper hunger to know You. Strip away distractions and draw us into true intimacy, that our lives may reflect Your power and glory, in Jesus Christ's Name. Amen.

ANCIENT WORDS DEVOTION

ONE LOVE, ONE DESIRE

SCRIPTURE
PSALM 27:4 —
One thing have I asked of the LORD, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to inquire in his temple.

DEVOTION
David understood the power of holy focus. In a life filled with battles, responsibilities, and pressure, he reduced his pursuit to one thing—the presence of the LORD. Strength for the battlefield was born in the LORD's house; clarity in life flowed from communion with God.

Today we are being called away from divided desires. God is not seeking multitasking hearts but single-eyed devotion. What you desire most will determine where you dwell. If His presence is not your pursuit, your walk will lose its power. Return to the secret place. Make God your supreme desire, and everything else will fall into alignment.

PRAYER:
Lord, give us one holy desire—to dwell in Your presence and behold Your beauty. Deliver us from divided hearts and anchor us in You alone, in Jesus Christ's Name. Amen.
