New series alert:
(AN APOLOGIA part 2) a continuation of why I believe in the Lord Jesus Christ taught in 2024,
Now in defending the truth and legitimacy of the Gospel matters because beliefs shape how people understand God, His salvation, His character, and His life in us.
When "WHOM" the Gospel teaches about is distorted, it can lead people away from its central message—grace, truth, and the finished work of Christ.
And so in our daily apologia; we preach Jesus +nothing for the following reasons:
1. To preserve the true message of salvation:
The Gospel of Jesus Christ is about salvation by grace alone through faith—not human effort. Modern heresies often add requirements (like works, rituals, or “special knowledge”, African thinking mindset) or remove key truths that contaminate the integrity of the scriptures. When the tenses of the Gospel are changed, the redemptive narrative is lost and the believer is left vulnerable to feed on anything.
2. Because biblical truth can be distorted over time:
Even in the early church, leaders like Paul the Apostle warned about false teachings creeping in (see Galatians 1:6–9).
Today, similar distortions appear in new forms—prosperity-only messages, denial of Christ’s ultimate finished work, or mixing Christianity with present-day philosophies. Without discernment, it becomes easy for people to accept a version of the Gospel that isn’t actually Christ centred.
3. To protect spiritual growth and maturity:
Sound doctrine builds strong faith. False teaching can confuse believers, weaken their trust, or lead them into unhealthy practices. The Gospel of Jesus Christ helps keep believers grounded in truth so that they grow perfectly, strong, and complete for the gospel that saves them is the same gospel that keeps the firm in all God's will.
4. Because the Gospel has eternal significance:
The message of the Gospel isn’t just philosophical—it deals with eternal destiny. That’s why it’s taken seriously throughout Scripture. In 2 Timothy, believers are encouraged to “rightly divide the word of truth.” Getting the Gospel right is essential, not optional.
5. To honor Christ and His finished work:
The work of Christ on the cross is the central theme of the Bible. When teachings suggest that His work is incomplete or needs to be “added to,” it undermines what He accomplished. Defending the Gospel protects the truth that His sacrifice was sufficient.
6. To equip believers to respond wisely:
Jesus +nothing doesn’t mean arguing aggressively—it means being ready to explain truth clearly, with humility and love. As taught in 1 Peter 3:15, believers should be prepared to give an answer for their hope and faith in Jesus hence be able to preach the grace of God graciously.
■In conclusion;
Defending the Gospel is about protecting truth, guiding people rightly, and honoring Christ. It’s not about winning debates—it’s about ensuring that the life-giving message of Jesus remains clear, accurate, unchanged, teachable, believable, and repeatable.
It's why we shout, JESUS +nothing till Him alone is glorified beyond our days.
Pray for us.
