There is great power in the prayer of the Hoy Rosary. Here is a testimony from one faithful from America. Please read through......

Mairenn Brenn February, 12 2011 - Florida USA

I suffer from a congenital heart condition which was not diagnosed until I had a heart attack in 2008. I was told by my doctors that I am at end-stage heart disease with only a 10% heart function and was placed on the list for heart transplants. Last night I was having severe heart pain and my family wanted to call rescue. I laid down for a while and was watching a special on tv about the healings at Lourdes. The chest pain was severe and it was hard to breathe. Without thinking I took my rosary and placed it on my chest and kept watching the special. In a matter of moments I had no more chest pain and was able to sleep the whole night. I woke up the next day feeling well and had no more pain.
That was last night and I am convinced the Blessed Mother intervened for me. I telling you my story because the rosary is the most powerful tool we have. Thank you, my mother, for your divine help. May each rosary I say be a wreath of roses on your head. I love you, my mother!

“The medicine of Immortality” was how St. Ignatius of Antioch referred to the Eucharist while Thomas Aquinas considered it to be the greatest of all sacraments. Given its pre-eminent status, it seems only fitting that the Church has a feast day called Corpus Christi to specifically celebrate the Eucharist. Corpus Christi is traditionally observed on the Thursday after Trinity Sunday and this year falls on June 7th.
Monsignor John Kennedy is an official at the Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith and he tells us more about the history and importance of the Corpus Christi feast, as well as its prayers, and the main customs and traditions associated with this feast day.
Listen to Susy Hodges' interview with Monsignor Kennedy:
Monsignor Kennedy says this feast is "extremely significant for the Church" as the Church has always taught that "the Eucharist is the central aspect of the Church's life ... and is the "most august or the most special sacrament."
He goes on to say that one of his "earliest memories" from his childhood "is taking part in the Corpus Christi procession" , wearing his Holy Communion clothes. Monsignor Kennedy says Pope Benedict aptly summed up the meaning of this feast day in a discourse in 2008 using three key words: "gathering, walking and kneeling... we gather around the altar of the Lord, we walk with the Lord and we kneel before the Lord in adoration."

St. Valentine
St. Valentine
Patron of Love, Young People, Happy Marriages
269

· Valentine was a holy priest in Rome, who, with St. Marius and his family, assisted the martyrs in the persecution under Claudius II. He was apprehended, and sent by the emperor to the prefect of Rome, who, on finding all his promises to make him renounce his faith in effectual, commended him to be beaten with clubs, and afterwards, to be beheaded, which was executed on February 14, about the year 270. Pope Julius I is said to have built a church near Ponte Mole to his memory, which for a long time gave name to the gate now called Porta del Popolo, formerly, Porta Valetini. The greatest part of his relics are now in the church of St. Praxedes. His name is celebrated as that of an illustrious martyr in the sacramentary of St. Gregory, the Roman Missal of Thomasius, in the calendar of F. Fronto and that of Allatius, in Bede, Usuard, Ado, Notker and all other martyrologies on this day. To abolish the heathens lewd superstitious custom of boys drawing the names of girls, in honor of their goddess Februata Juno, on the fifteenth of this month, several zealous pastors substituted the names of saints in billets given on this day.
· The Origin of St. Valentine
· The origin of St. Valentine, and how many St. Valentines there were, remains a mystery. One opinion is that he was a Roman martyred for refusing to give up his Christian faith. Other historians hold that St. Valentine was a temple priest jailed for defiance during the reign of Claudius. Whoever he was, Valentine really existed because archaeologists have unearthed a Roman catacomb and an ancient church dedicated to Saint Valentine. In 496 AD Pope Gelasius marked February 14th as a celebration in honor of his martyrdom.
· The first representation of Saint Valentine appeared in a The Nuremberg Chronicle, a great illustrated book printed in 1493. [Additional evidence that Valentine was a real person: archaeologists have unearthed a Roman catacomb and an ancient church dedicated to Saint Valentine.] Alongside a woodcut portrait of him, text states that Valentinus was a Roman priest martyred during the reign of Claudius the Goth [Claudius II]. Since he was caught marrying Christian couples and aiding any Christians who were being persecuted under Emperor Claudius in Rome [when helping them was considered a crime], Valentinus was arrested and imprisoned. Claudius took a liking to this prisoner -- until Valentinus made a strategic error: he tried to convert the Emperor -- whereupon this priest was condemned to death. He was beaten with clubs and stoned; when that didn't do it, he was beheaded outside the Flaminian Gate [circa 269].
· Saints are not supposed to rest in peace; they're expected to keep busy: to perform miracles, to intercede. Being in jail or dead is no excuse for non-performance of the supernatural. One legend says, while awaiting his ex*****on, Valentinus restored the sight of his jailer's blind daughter. Another legend says, on the eve of his death, he penned a farewell note to the jailer's daughter, signing it, "From your Valentine."
· St. Valentine was a Priest, martyred in 269 at Rome and was buried on the Flaminian Way. He is the Patron Saint of affianced couples, bee keepers, engaged couples, epilepsy, fainting, greetings, happy marriages, love, lovers, plague, travellers, young people. He is represented in pictures with birds and roses

MAY 10, 2012

« May 9 | May 11 »
Thursday of the Fifth Week of Easter
Lectionary: 288
Reading 1 Acts 15:7-21

After much debate had taken place,
Peter got up and said to the Apostles and the presbyters,
"My brothers, you are well aware that from early days
God made his choice among you that through my mouth
the Gentiles would hear the word of the Gospel and believe.
And God, who knows the heart,
bore witness by granting them the Holy Spirit
just as he did us.
He made no distinction between us and them,
for by faith he purified their hearts.
Why, then, are you now putting God to the test
by placing on the shoulders of the disciples
a yoke that neither our ancestors nor we have been able to bear?
On the contrary, we believe that we are saved
through the grace of the Lord Jesus, in the same way as they."
The whole assembly fell silent,
and they listened
while Paul and Barnabas described the signs and wonders
God had worked among the Gentiles through them.

After they had fallen silent, James responded,
"My brothers, listen to me.
Symeon has described how God first concerned himself
with acquiring from among the Gentiles a people for his name.
The words of the prophets agree with this, as is written:

After this I shall return
and rebuild the fallen hut of David;
from its ruins I shall rebuild it
and raise it up again,
so that the rest of humanity may seek out the Lord,
even all the Gentiles on whom my name is invoked.
Thus says the Lord who accomplishes these things,
known from of old.

It is my judgment, therefore,
that we ought to stop troubling the Gentiles who turn to God,
but tell them by letter to avoid pollution from idols,
unlawful marriage, the meat of strangled animals, and blood.
For Moses, for generations now,
has had those who proclaim him in every town,
as he has been read in the synagogues every sabbath."
Responsorial Psalm Ps 96:1-2a, 2b-3, 10

R. (3) Proclaim God's marvelous deeds to all the nations.
or:
R. Alleluia.
Sing to the LORD a new song;
sing to the LORD, all you lands.
Sing to the LORD; bless his name.
R. Proclaim God's marvelous deeds to all the nations.
or:
R. Alleluia.
Announce his salvation, day after day.
Tell his glory among the nations;
among all peoples, his wondrous deeds.
R. Proclaim God's marvelous deeds to all the nations.
or:
R. Alleluia.
Say among the nations: The LORD is king.
He has made the world firm, not to be moved;
he governs the peoples with equity.
R. Proclaim God's marvelous deeds to all the nations.
or:
R. Alleluia.
Gospel Jn 15:9-11

Jesus said to his disciples:
"As the Father loves me, so I also love you.
Remain in my love.
If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love,
just as I have kept my Father's commandments
and remain in his love.

"I have told you this so that
my joy might be in you and
your joy might be complete."
