CULTURAL HERO'S FESTIVALS
The festival is fully open to churches, mosques, temples, all learning institutions, companies, parastatals, theatre groups, youth groups and individuals to come and participate.
The Festival’s Circular
You can register and participate in various categories as follows;
a) Music-Own choice accredited pieces, gospel pop, Negro spiritual, zilizopendwa from Kenya and rest of Africa, set African piece, original Africa composition, arrangements, accompanied pieces, small choir, modern dance/sakata/gospel, traditional folksongs/dances from Kenya and from rest of Africa, traditional folksongs with sacred text, Islamic religious songs, taarab music, Hindu oriental performances, western traditional group dances, singing games African and western style, rap, spoken word, acrobatic dances, African/western instruments solo and band, disk jockeying competition, special composition on themes provided in other circulars.
b) Elocutions-Set verses as per the syllabus, own choice published verses, original composition, special composition on themes provided in the syllabus.
NB: Elocutions will be done in Swahili, English, French, Germany, Arabic and other African languages.
c) Drama-Plays, skits, solo/choral verses, narratives, dances, comedy, mime, modern creative dances.
d) Exhibition-Fine art cultural drawings, cultural attires, traditional tools/weapons/foods, modeling and fashion show.
Awards will be given to the first three teams/participants in each category i.e. trophies, certificates and cash. Information on minimum and maximum number of participants per item and other guidelines available in the participation circulars..
NB: Winning teams to perform at the festival’s gala on 22nd November 2015 where best teams will be selected for the cultural exchange program visit to Canada. Twelve participants from each of last year’s years selected teams will be represent the festival at December Canada Cultural Exchange Visit.
