How fitting then that in this month we celebrate not only our Blessed Mother, but all mothers, whom God has entrusted with the awesome responsibility of bringing new life into the world!

‎Pause today to think of your own mother, perhaps even all the moms you know. Take the time to accompany those who may be experiencing a challenging time. Pray that Our Blessed Mother may guide and care for them, as motherhood is not always an easy road.

HAPPY LABOUR DAY 2026

Labour has priority over capital. Every worker has a right to productive work, to decent and fair wages, and to the organization and joining of unions to protect their interests.

| KENYA TO HOST THE 21st PLENARY ASSEMBLY OF AMECEA IN NAIROBI FROM JULY 17 TO JULY 26, 2026.|

This is a meeting of Catholic Bishops and Delegates from Eastern Africa.

Why This Meeting Matters

The Chairman of the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops, Archbishop Maurice Muhatia, said this is a special moment of grace for Kenya.

The meeting helps Bishops from countries like Uganda, Tanzania, and Zambia work together. They share the same problems and want to respond as one Church.

Focus on Young People

A big topic at the meeting will be young people. The Church wants to include them more.
As Archbishop Muhatia said, young people are not just the future—they are the present reality of the Church.

Theme of the Assembly

Bishop Charles Kasonde, the Chairman of AMECEA, said the theme is: “Building Bridges of Communion, Hope, Justice, and Good Governance.”
The meeting will discuss issues like justice, good leadership, and how to serve local communities.

Not Just a Meeting

The assembly is not only for talking. It will lead to action. After the meeting, the plans will be shared with Dioceses, Parishes, and Small Christian Communities (SCCs).
These are small church groups that started in the 1970s.

Kenya Asked to Be Welcoming

Archbishop Muhatia asked all Kenyans to be good hosts. He said the success of the meeting depends on everyone’s support.

Background of AMECEA

AMECEA was started in 1961 after the Second Vatican Council. It holds a plenary assembly every four years in different countries.
Past meetings have helped shape the Church in Eastern Africa, especially through Small Christian Communities.

The Provincial Superior, of the Passionist Missionaries-Kenya announces the passing on of Rev. Fr. Paul Mbugua, CP (Garang).

Fr. Paul, hails from All Saints Riara Parish in the Archdiocese of Nairobi and has served the Church faithfully in various assignments, including St . Bernadette Ngoigwa Parish, Thika, and most recently as Chaplain at Mount Kenya University (MKU). His dedicated ministry and witness of faith will be remembered with gratitude.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.

Women and girls represent half of the world’s population and therefore also half of its potential. But gender inequality persists everywhere and stagnates social progress.

‎Achieving gender equality and empowering all women and girls is not just the right thing to do, it’s essential for sustainable development. Sustainable Development Goal (SDG-GOALS) 5 focuses on closing the gender gap and ensuring equal opportunities for all.
