Dealing With Hindrances to One’s Destiny
Main Text
Matthew 13:24−30
Theme Scripture
“But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat…” — Matthew 13:25
Introduction
Every destiny ordained by God attracts opposition.
Whenever God plants greatness, the enemy attempts to plant hindrances. In the parable of the wheat and tares, Jesus shows us that the enemy works secretly to frustrate progress, delay purpose, and weaken spiritual growth.
Many people are called, gifted, and anointed, yet they struggle because of unseen hindrances standing against their destiny.
But the good news is this: God never created you to be defeated. Every hindrance can be overcome through discernment, prayer, obedience, and persistence.
Understanding Destiny Hindrances
In Matthew 13, the farmer planted good seed, but the enemy planted tares.
This teaches us:
God has a good plan for your life.
The enemy also fights destinies.
Not everything growing in your life came from God.
Some hindrances appear as:
Delay
Fear
Wrong relationships
Sin
Spiritual attacks
Discouragement
Disobedience
Lack of prayer
Negative words and environments
Signs of Destiny Hindrances
1. Constant Delay and Frustration
You work hard but see little progress.
Biblical Example:
Exodus — The children of Israel delayed in the wilderness because of unbelief.
2. Repeated Cycles of Failure
Whenever breakthrough is near, something goes wrong.
Scripture:
“The enemy came by night…”
The enemy attacks strategically.
3. Spiritual Weakness
The enemy sowed tares “while men slept.”
Spiritual sleep opens doors to attacks.
Prayerlessness
Carelessness
Compromise
4. Wrong Associations
Some people around us hinder destiny instead of helping it.
Scripture:
“Bad company corrupts good character.”
Not every connection is assigned by God.
How To Deal With Hindrances To Destiny
1. Stay Spiritually Awake
Matthew 26:41
“Watch and pray…”
Spiritual alertness protects destiny.
Ways to stay awake:
Consistent prayer
Fasting
Studying the Word
Fellowship with believers
2. Discern the Enemy’s Operations
Not every battle is physical.
Ask God for discernment to identify:
Wrong habits
Wrong relationships
Spiritual distractions
Prayer Point:
“Lord, expose every hidden hindrance fighting my destiny.”
3. Remove Every W**d Early
Tares grow beside wheat.
Some hindrances start small:
Bitterness
Laziness
Pride
Sin
If not removed early, they grow bigger.
Scripture:
Song of Solomon — “Catch the little foxes…”
4. Persevere Despite Opposition
The wheat still continued growing.
Do not stop because of opposition.
Keep serving
Keep praying
Keep believing
Keep working
Your destiny is stronger than your obstacles.
5. Depend on God’s Power
Some battles cannot be won by human strength.
Zechariah 4:6
“Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit…”
God specializes in removing impossible barriers.
Biblical Characters Who Overcame Hindrances
Joseph
Joseph
Betrayed by brothers
Sold into slavery
Imprisoned falsely
Yet destiny prevailed.
Lesson:
No opposition can cancel God’s plan.
David
David
Faced:
Goliath
Saul’s persecution
Rejection
But he still became king.
Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ
Faced rejection, betrayal, and crucifixion, yet fulfilled His assignment.
Prayer Points
Every hidden hindrance against my destiny, be exposed in Jesus’ name.
Father, uproot every evil seed planted by the enemy.
I refuse spiritual slumber and carelessness.
Every delay assigned against my progress, break today.
Lord, connect me with people who will help my destiny.
By the power of God, I shall fulfill my divine purpose.
Conclusion
The enemy may sow tares, but God still preserves the wheat.
Your destiny is too important to abandon. Stay awake spiritually, trust God, and continue growing despite opposition.
The same God who preserved Joseph, David, and Jesus will preserve your destiny.
