Day 2 marked the conclusion of our Training of Trainers on FGM prevention and psychosocial support in Kajiado, in with Il'laramatak cc.

Today’s sessions focused on our curriculum “What Is a Little Girl Worth?”, walking participants through its lessons and equipping them on how to cascade the training to survivors and girls at risk in schools and communities. At the heart of the conversations was a powerful reminder: a girl’s worth is found in Christ and is not defined by culture or harmful traditions.

Participants also engaged on reporting and protection mechanisms, strengthening their ability to respond when girls are at risk.

We concluded the training with the awarding of certificates to our newly equipped champions, who now return to their communities ready to advocate against FGM and support survivors with compassion and courage.✨

Day 1 of our Training of Trainers (TOT) on FGM Prevention and Psychosocial Support is complete.

We began the day with a launch session where our CEO, Rev. Hamisi Kirenga HSC, leadership from our partners Il'laramatak cc, represented by Programs Manager Mr. Joseph Kasere, and Ms. Mary Taiko, Director of Gender at the County Government of Kajiado, joined us to encourage participants and emphasize the importance of equipping community champions in the fight against FGM. Ms. Taiko appreciated the collaboration between STA and ICC and officially declared the training open.

The training then moved into sessions aligned with our FGM Survivor Psychosocial Support curriculum, “What Is a Little Girl Worth?”, designed to equip champions not only to advocate against FGM but also to support survivors and girls at risk with empathy, knowledge, and practical skills. Key areas covered today;
✅ Understanding FGM (Knowledge & Context)
✅ Psychosocial Support and Survivor Care
✅ Legal Frameworks and Protection Mechanisms
✅ Facilitation & Training Skills for TOT champions.

The sessions, facilitated by both STA and ICC, were highly engaging and participatory. Participants actively shared the realities and challenges they face in their communities while combating FGM, with discussions also focusing on practical solutions and identifying key gaps that we can collectively address moving forward.

It was also a privilege to have Monty lead a session on leadership and facilitation skills, and Karen guide participants through trauma-informed care for FGM survivors and girls at risk.

We now look forward to Day 2 tomorrow as we continue equipping community champions to protect girls, offer psychosocial support and strengthen the movement to end FGM. ✨

Tomorrow, in partnership with Il'laramatak cc, we kick off a two-day Training of Trainers (TOT) in Kajiado Central. Together with local leaders, teachers, and caregivers, we are strengthening community capacity to protect girls, support survivors, and advance the movement to end FGM.

Today was such a special day!

Karen and Monty, our dear friends and supporters of Spread Truth Africa, joined us for a visit to Pastor Solomon in Kajiado. He warmly welcomed us into his home and hosted us so generously together with members of his church.

It was a beautiful time of fellowship; sharing stories, laughter, and simply enjoying being together. Our CEO, Rev. Hamisi Kirenga HSC, was also with us, and it meant a lot for Karen and Monty to see and connect with the people and ministry they support.

We have left Pastor Solomon’s home with full hearts, grateful for friendships, partnership, and the warmth of such genuine hospitality. 🙏✨
