Protecting children begins with informed and empowered communities. 💙👧🏾👦🏾

Through the "Safer Future Project," implemented by AIC Health Ministries (AICHM) with support from ERIKS Development Partner, communities in Nabuin and Kodopa villages, Turkwel Ward came together to strengthen child protection and create safer environments where every child can thrive.

The community dialogues brought together local leaders, elders, assistant chiefs, community mobilizers, and families to:
✅ Raise awareness of children's rights and protection from all forms of violence and harmful practices.
✅ Promote positive parenting that nurtures, respects, and supports every child.
✅ Encourage timely reporting of child protection concerns and improve access to essential support services.
✅ Develop practical community-led actions to strengthen child protection systems.

The engagement was co-led by the AICHM Child Protection Officer, Community Facilitator, the Turkwel Ward Administrator, and Assistant Chiefs, demonstrating the power of collaboration in safeguarding children's futures.

When communities unite, children are protected, families are strengthened, and a safer future becomes possible for all.

Behind every food package distributed is a family with renewed hope.

Through the Drought 8 Response Project, 300 households in Kakurotuko Village, Nanam Ward have received critical food assistance from AIC Health Ministries (AICHM), with the generous support of ERIKS Development Partner.

The intervention reached households most affected by prolonged drought, including persons with disabilities, elderly-headed households, farming families, VSLA members, Aloe Vera project beneficiaries, and pasture management beneficiaries.

Each household received:
🌽 45 kg of maize
🫘 22.5 kg of beans
🛢️ 3 litres of cooking oil
🧂 200 grams of salt

In the coming weeks, every beneficiary household will also receive a 20-litre jerrycan to improve access to safe water and reduce the burden of water collection.

The distribution was carried out in close collaboration with local leaders, led by AICHM Project Coordinator Sammy Ikeny and Nanam Ward Administrator Mr. Alfred, alongside area Assistant Chiefs and Village Administrators, ensuring a transparent, dignified, and well-coordinated process.

Together with ERIKS Development Partner, we are helping communities meet immediate needs while strengthening their resilience to future droughts.

Every partnership matters. Every contribution makes a difference. Every family deserves hope.

🎉 Amplifying Children’s Voices: Lokichoggio Celebrates the Day of the African Child 2026 🎉

On 16th June 2026, Lokichoggio Ward joined the rest of Africa in commemorating the Day of the African Child at Chinese Group under the theme "Ensuring Universal Access to Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene for Every Child in Africa.”

The day kicked off with a colorful procession that brought together children, parents, teachers, community leaders, and stakeholders to raise awareness about children's rights and the importance of creating safe and supportive environments for every child.

Children took center stage through songs, poems, shairis, and drama performances, sharing their experiences, dreams, and concerns while calling on leaders and communities to continue protecting and promoting their rights.

The event was graced by representatives from the State Department for Children Services (SDCS) and attended by the Assistant County Commissioner (ACC), Sub-County Director of Education (SCDE), Officer Commanding Station (OCS), chiefs, teachers, CSOs, parents, opinion leaders, and community members.

With participation from 19 schools, the celebration showcased the power of collective action in advancing children's wellbeing and ensuring their voices are heard.

AIC Health Ministries (AICHM), with support from ERIKS Development Partner, remains committed to strengthening child participation and supporting community-led initiatives that promote the rights and wellbeing of every child.

Thank you to all partners, schools, teachers, parents, CSOs, and community leaders who made this event a success.

💙 Every child deserves to be heard, protected, and empowered.

What happens when children are given a voice? 💙

66 children from across Turkana County came together in Lodwar for the Kenya Children Assembly and what they created was powerful.
They didn’t just attend…
✨ They spoke
✨ They led
✨ They inspired

Under the theme: “Ensuring Universal Access to Water, Sanitation and Hygiene for Every Child in Africa,” these young leaders shared their stories, challenged real issues, and boldly called for change, especially in communities facing WASH challenges.

And they didn’t stop there…
They campaigned, presented manifestos, and took on leadership roles from Governor to Speaker to Sergeant-at-Arms proving that leadership starts now, not later.

We are proud that AIC Health Ministries, with support from ERIKS Development partner, facilitated 3 amazing children to participate:
👏 One was elected Sergeant-at-Arms
🎤 One graced the stage with a powerful shahiri performance before the deputy governor.

This is more than an event. This is a movement of young voices rising.

💬 Tell us: If you could give every child one thing to thrive, what would it be?

Every healing story begins with a heart that chose to care. 💙

Today, we celebrate the hands and hearts behind every life touched, every comfort given, and every hope restored.

As shared by one of our hospitals, AIC Kijabe Hospital, we are reminded that when we pause and truly listen, we reconnect with our purpose.

In the words of Executive Director Dr. Chege:
“We are on the right path, let’s keep going, and keep encouraging one another. It is not easy, but it is possible.”

This journey may not always be easy, but it is one worth walking together. Through faith, compassion, and unwavering commitment, we continue to bring healing where it is needed most.

Let us keep going. Let us keep believing. Let us keep serving.
