CHURCH OCTOBER NEWS LETTER: Pastor Richard and Sarah. INTROCUCTION:
Pastor Richard and Sarah murungi are serving the Lord as founders and leaders with Destiny community church of Kenya East Africa. Now they are blessed with their three children; Jo
sé’s (9), Serenity (5), Ryan (1 ½). Richard currently serves as the Kenyan ordained Bishop of east Africa organization Destiny Community Church. Their vision is to see a healthy, Bible-based church established in every un-reached village and community in East Africa, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and beyond. Their strategy is to partner with key East African church leaders to research, train, and mobilize the body of Christ to complete the Great Commission. They are striving to equip local leaders in Eastern Africa to reach their Countries for Christ and establish health bible based churches into other countries as well. Richard and Sarah have served as Bible college teachers, trainers and leaders for 15 years. Richard has been a principal and member of the board for seven years. They both hold a master’s degree from the Vision international university. This was a key position to help him interact with pastors and leaders from many denominations and organizations within Kenya and abroad. Bishop Richard ministry focuses on church planting, leadership development training. Feeding programs in the city slums and street children and empowerment based programs to the singles and widows in the community. We have been engaged in campaigns against girl circumcision. Resisting girl circumcision has been our desire and wish for long time. We hold meetings to train young girls on the need to keep away from those traditional and cultural vice. In addition to caring for their three children, Sarah enjoys ministering through hospitality, Teaching, women empowerment programs and partnering with her husband in the administration of destiny community church business and equipping Sunday school teachers. It has been almost three months since I have returned from the United States. My time there was incredibly blessed and I cherish each and every memory that I have. The Lord connected me with many wonderful people and I am so thankful for the relationships that I have developed. My trip wouldn’t have been possible if not for all those who were so willing to help me during my time there. I want to thank everyone for their help in whatever capacity that might have been. You are truly a blessing from the Lord and may God bless you all of your days. Although I was sad to leave the US, I was very excited to return home to my family and my congregation. During my time in the US, my beautiful wife Sarah remained home with our children José’s (age 9), Serenity (age 5), and Ryan (age 1 ½). José’s and Serenity are doing wonderful and after a short break they have returned to school at Mountain View. They are both strong students and are the best of their classes. Ryan has grown bigger and more controlling since I left for the US. He loves to patrol our home in his pampers and demand anything he desires. He is a very funny boy and is such a blessing. Sarah is more beautiful than when I left her and she has done a wonderful job taking care of our children and our church in Kariakor. Together with supporting team Peter Kariuki, David Kariuki, and James Mwiti, my wife led our congregation during my Absence. She is a very strong leader and the church is stronger now than ever. My wife and I have been very busy doing things together since my return. José’s performed very well in school this term, next year he will join grade five. Serenity will join grade one ,Ryan not ready for school yet, pray for God to help us with finances for school fees next year. This was a gospel crusade in kk market! Our ministry is involved with church planting; we have planted a church some new churches in nyahururu, laare, korokocho K.k. We have Inheriting 5 churches who want to join the destiny community we also have a feeding program in korokocho slums and a church there. A friend a missionary from California came and visited with us. He was a blessing to the whole mission and projects for one month and 21 days. Ministry involvement:
In Three months’ time we have accomplished a lot of things; we visited with DCC church on 17-19th August together with my wife and our 3 kids. We did a lot of trainings for children ministry, women conference and couples and youth seminars. Support my mother’s ministry, taking care of widows and singles in the community. We are doing and training on empowerment programmes like chicken project, poultry keeping, income generating projects in the village e.g. starting small business; Moses kaberia is our key contact and project manager on this work. One friend from north California Purchased cow for my mother and it’s doing very well . The cow is doing well and supplies milk to sell and make Kenyan tea for her group. Our ministry has supported people in single family. We have Supported Chris David, raised by single mother with HIV aids. We have paid his school fees and if she dies, our ministry is going to support him completely. Julius is crippled student in high school, his father suffering from prostate cancer and mother is crippled in her right leg. We got him a sponsor a company from within Kenya, {KTDA}, Kenya Development authority which pays for school fees and we supports by buying the supplies. Julius's sister Judy is a single mother and 20 years, we help her with baby clothes and food. We are looking forward to giving her a course in life she can train and get a job. She dropped out of school early to take care of baby. Helping orphaned children, paying milk for few month; purchased blankets and clothes. We are now supporting baby of Friday Makena who committed su***de early this April 2012. She left behind an 8 months old kid. We got a friend who made a onetime donation and we are able to pay for a 12 months old baby clothes, milk and other baby needs. I visited the kid and he is doing well. Some of our pastor had no means of communication with the Headquarters so we purchased simple phones for pastors. We have also been helping with food and clothes. Many people donated clothes shoes and gifts that I have been giving out. We have put some of our support on car repair and gas. The Subaru is of great help to our ministry though growing old, we trust god for a new car to help reach all the places. Lately we have been helping my uncle going through prostate cancer. We have been involved Funeral support both in Murang’a, and meru. Buy Medicine and healthcare for Lucy; who has a heart condition. She was able to get a mitral valve replacement on the right side of the heart and survives on blood thinners. She has suffered two strokes and this caused her to have some damages in the head. The doctors have subscribed for her some medicines in the neurological clinic and we have committed to helping her. Finally we have done some administration work like purchasing some important documents for the church like Baptism certificates and documentation. We partly have been supporting Pastor James bible school education processing of term papers, project papers and transport. We do Family counselling and cater for travel expenses. Organise Seminars, Conferences and Sunday school children ministry. Went to conference in Murang’a supported with food and drinks transport of ministers been brainstorming about starting NGO here in Kenya called AMEN. Sister to Sister organization has partnered with us and we are helping them to run a feeding programme in kibera slums. They are helping the orphaned children in the slum to have their identity in life and have food as they cope with their daily live. HOW CAN ONE BE INVOLVED: To support destiny community church projects there are several ways you can be of help to this ministry: • The most effective means of support is sending money, direct to our bank account in USA (BANK OF AMERICA ACCOUNT) or M pesa if you are supporting from within Kenya. Via Western Union addressed to the Director of the Organization, Rev. Richard murungi. • This will help buy clothing, food stuff, sanitary towels, panties, soaps and other personal effects and sent them to us. • You can chose to sponsor a child, teenage mother go through education and obtain some basic needs, single mother or a widowed woman start a business or go for vocational training. • You can personally volunteer to come and give hope to young girls, teenage mothers, orphans and vulnerable children, or single and widowed women in Kenya. • If there’s another way you think can be of help to us you can contact us. Whichever help you offer to us will take us a long way and we will be more grateful. HOW DESTINY COMMUNITY CHURCH IS FUNDED: The destiny community church Organization programs depend on Church offerings, donations from supporters, well-wishers and contributions from members. Every donation provides a meal to a hungry orphan, sanitary towels and panty to a girl or poor child going to school and supports a widow and a single mother. You too can be part of the DCC Organization projects, by donating towards the fulfillment of this vision. Partnership and donation is open to everyone. Anniversary: 3/10/1998:
