Thank you all for the most active participation during the first 9 of the ten-part series there is nothing much to add today apart from some matters that have arisen during the previous postings. They will be listed in no particular order
1.0 QUESTION: WHY WAS BABA JOHANE CALLED FOUNDER IN THE SUNDAY POST?
This is not new but is fact and is what all are taught.
There is the small yellow book that was read by Pastor Zephaniah Muungani last October (cover has changed)
It is the first and only booklet that most of us were given on joining the church.
It has a narration by Baba Johane including bible verses – which have been discussed on this page.
And will continue to be discussed.
Someone complained that Founder means starting a business. Not really it means a person who creates or starts an organization, or institution or business or project or even a country.
To be specific person who starts a business is called an entrepreneur or investor or businessman.
There are so many dictionaries online that it needs only a little patience to check.
The booklet says, the founder is John the Baptist – in Kiswahili Mwanzilishi ni Johana Mubatizati.
The VIDEO ON THE SAME WILL BE PINNED IN THE COMMENTS so that whoever wishes will listen through. The book was written by Baba Johane himself according to our Senior Pastor Micah Sibindi.
Having said that, Baba Johane who we call Baba a common title in Gospel of God, had many titles. That can be material for the next post.
2.0 BIBLE IS THE MAIN REFERENCE BOOK
There have been a lot of requests for books – even some suggesting that they would like to read with a view of joining the church.
The main book that is read in Gospel of God is the Bible – and that is already available in all languages worldwide.
It needs patience to read and understand – for it is a collection of books. At the same time, reading it as an apostle is more practical from within the church.
This is where one gets assistance from pastors and Evangelists – and is able to ask questions.
One is also able to observe the things around them and compare with the scriptures. Is able to benefit from words of the holy spirit from prophets and teachers and make comparison with that they are reading.
Therefore, reading the Bible is enriched by church experience. It has always been that way. Some have also benefited greatly from interaction such as is taking place on this page.
Take time to study and read through supporting verses that are usually posted.
An apostle needs to read the Bible very well remembering that:
· That they need to understand and explain the many misunderstandings and knowledge gaps that many have and be in a position to enlighten them. Teaching usually begins from what one knows to what they don’t. Many people are already familiar with Bible so that is where instruction must begin or be aligned.
· Whenever they minister worldwide (Rev 14:6-7) many questions from the Bible will be asked. Elsewhere some questions will even come from the Quran or other books.
With these few words let us encourage all to study the Bible. For those who have not done so beware of the weight of the task. There will be need to understand the Baba Johanes teachings from a Bible perspective – whether verses are provided or not, and even how people misunderstand those writings of that they are corrected. Remember:
· The apostles of Jesus were effective in ministering because they understood not only the gospel of Jesus but Judaism among other faiths because of their solid Jewish Background. Some such as Paul also had formal education (Acts 22:3) in Judaism.
· Looking backwards Moses benefited from his Egyptians schooling (Acts 7:22)
· Abraham also understood faiths around him including pagan faiths in his family (Joshua 242-3, Acts 7:2-3, Genesis 12:1-3,17:4-5).
Those ministering about the last gospel (Isaiah 18:1-7, 19:23-24, Daniel 2:34-45) have a lot to teach and learn from the previous covenants.
3.0 BIBLE IS NOT LIMITED TO THE PROTESTANT CANON OF 66 BOOKS
Having said much about Bible, let us remember that there are many scriptural books. The 66 books that most are familiar with is the protestant Bible or Canon. In primary school they would teach that the Bible has 66 books but there is not fixed number.
3.1 THERE IS NO SINGLE BOOK CALLED BIBLE OR CANON
The number of books in the Bible is derived from an agreed collection called a Canon. There is no single thing known as a Canon or Bible. Well known canons include:
· Catholic or Roman
· Greek
· Protestant
· Syrian
· Ethiopian
Of those listed the Syrian Canon has 61 books and the Ethiopian one has 81 to 88 books. The rest fall in between. One may ask whether there are Christians in Syria. There have been there from the onset. When Paul was on the road to Damascus (Acts 9), that is still the capital of a country called Syria. It is mentioned over 50 times in the Bible in both what many call old and new testaments
4.0 WHEN WRITING TO GOSPEL OF GOD VIA MESSENGER (INBOX)
When writing please provide all the necessary information that will help the person who sees the message answer you properly. If the message is clearly written, it will be read or taken to a person who is concerned with the issue that you are raising and they will reply.
4.1 DO NOT INBOX TO SAY HI ONLY – THAT CAN BE DONE IN COMMENTS
A message of hi or makadi from a stranger is sometimes not useful. It is better to say:
Hi! Makadi! I am writing from Zimbabwe (or wherever) and I am a member of Gospel of God (or any other church or company or embassy). I am planning to visit Nairobi and …. Or am in India and I would like to meet the team that will be coming in August etc. etc. This is an example.
4.2 DO NOT GIVE PHONE NUMBERS WITHOUT CLEAR EXPLANATION. THOSE NUMBERS MAY ONLY BE USEFUL LATER
There are so many people in-boxing and just leaving numbers without explanation. Worse still there are those who give numbers without country code – which is not useful.
4.3. ADMINS
There are three Admins on this page. They all speak read and write English and Kiswahili. Two of them speak Shona. One can at least read a message in Shona but let it be a clear message. There is not always time to chat word after another. If possible, write a letter that can be printed and given to any pastor or admin and they will understand what you want and what the person is asking and give a reply. Where necessary, depending on the issue, your messages can be presented to the office manager or the elders but let them be clear.
5.0 ABOUT WHATSAPP GROUPS
The only groups Gospel of God has has are for members being added by their pastors.
At the moment most groups are not active. It is also difficult because all the admins on this page and the supporting team were active in WhatsApp before but are presently a little busy.
In future groups may be formed. Possibly temporarily when admins have time to manage and engage on them.
Otherwise, most of the active groups at the moment are for fundraising. A lot of money in Church – even in Kenya is collected through mobile phones and groups are used for communication purposes on the same. They are voluntary.
6.0 MATIVIMANA HAS NOT ENDED AND IS JUST STARTING
Someone asked whether there were other journeys in view of the celebrations after the Australia mission. If all go as planned there should be a number of outreaches likely year in Africa (Psalms 68:31) and beyond (Revelations 7:2 … Revelations 14:6-7)
Let us review this topic at the end of the year in December or even September
