And when he came to Lehi, the Philistines shouted against him; and the Spirit of the LORD came mightily on him, and the cords that were on his arms became like flax burned in the fire and his bonds came loose from his hands. And he saw a fresh jawbone of a donkey and put out his hand and picked it up, and with it killed a thousand men.....And it came about, when he finished saying this, that he threw the jawbone out of his hand and called that place Ramath-Lehi (Judges 15:14-17).

This story is really interesting and it relates with us today. Samson killed 1000 solders with a jawbone and when all were down only him standing, he THREW AWAY the jawbone. Imagine it was in our modern day, the jawbone would have been commercialized. Preachers and pastors would break it into pieces, package it, and sell it as "anointed weapon" to superstitious members.

"Praise the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits; who forgives all your sins; who heals all your diseases" (Psalms 103:2-3).

Diseases originate from three sources: First, in**ed. Nearly every disease that has ever afflicted any individual was imprinted upon their physical life before they were born. Second, acquired. Actual disease is not only very often inherited, but owing to peculiar family weakness of one or more organs, a predisposition to disease results; no child is born into the world with pure blood, but every drop that flows in its veins, is the impure blood of its mother. Under these conditions it does not require extreme climates or kinds of work to produce acquired disease. Third, result of sins of omission or commission.

The word of God declares in Jeremiah 30:13, "You have no healing medicines". "In vain shalt thou use many medicines for thou shalt not be cured" (Jer. 46:11). The Jews never had a physician until King Solomon got old, forsook God, became sensual and married a lot of Egyptian women with whose court came the magic workers of the black art, the mixer of drugs and poisons.

“And he will confirm a covenant with many for one ‘week’, but in the middle of the ‘week’ he will put a stop to sacrifice and offering. And on the wing of abominations will be one who creates desolation, until the end that is decreed is poured out on the desolator”
(Daniel 9:27)

The death of Christ at the cross brought to a stop sacrifices and offerings for atonement as prophesied by Daniel. In John 19:30 Jesus cried "its finished" refering to the order of sacrifices and offerings for atonement. Therefore, when we preach and teach that no more sacrifices for atonement, we are not fighting men or churches but seeking to displace dead forms and creeds or wild-fanaticism, with living truths. No advantage is gained by tearing down other peoples’ houses; build a better one beside theirs and invite them over to enjoy its comforts with you.

"but you must seek the LORD at the place which the Lord your God chooses out of all your tribes to put his name there, at his dwelling place. You must come there" (Deuteronomy 12:5)

Moses cautioned the Israelites that when they get to the promised land, they should not worship the Lord their God at any place but a place of His choosing. This was to caution them not to engage in worship of idols. In the New Testament, God chose His Son Jesus Christ as the place for His worship. It is no longer a place but a person. We worship God in the person of Christ. That is why Jesus told the Samaritan woman at the well that worshipping at a place is a wrong form of worship but the true worship is spirit.

"But he who prophesies speaks to men for their edification, and encouragement, and comfort" (1 Corinthians 14:3).

In the Old Testament, the prophetic ministry was essentially a prediction but in the New Testament, the emphasis is on narration. The prophecy regarding the future is of two distinct types: Some prophecies are unconditional such as the Abrahamic covenant or the messianic prophecies. Others are conditional, like Isaiah's warning about Hezekiah's imminent death (2 Kings 20:1-6) or the Jonah's pronouncement about the judgment of Nineveh (Jonah 3:3-10). The unconditional prophecies do not depend on man to be fulfilled. Conditional prophecies, on the other hand, depend on the obedience of the person or people to whom they are addressed.

Then Peter began to say to him, “Look, we have left everything and have followed you”. And Jesus answered and said, “Truly I say to you, there is no one who has left house, or brothers, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake and for the gospel, who will not receive a hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brothers, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions, and in the world to come, eternal life" (Mark 10:28-30).

While many interpretations have been offered by wiser men than me on these verses, I believe that Jesus was referring to the itinerant evangelists who would become missionaries to the world, traveling alone with little more than the clothes on their backs. He promised that houses in strange lands would open their doors to them—a hundred, if need be. He promised that as they preach the Gospel of the Kingdom and win souls to Christ, they would enjoy fellowship with countless brothers, sisters, mothers, and fathers—a multiplied family of faith.

Today certain preachers are resorting to gimmicks to entice people to part with their money. What am referring to as gimmicks is the use of articles that purport to have some mysterious power or supposed virtue in them—a sort of charm or fetish—the use of which has no Scriptural foundation. These gimmicks include relics, bones, holy water, indulgences which are used in the modern church as money-raising devices designed to appeal to people's ignorance and superstition. These gimmicks are phony and have no virtue. May God help ministers to abide in the simplicity and purity of the gospel and not attempt to mislead people with such things.
