I believe there's a lot to learn from this guy's insightful interview 😇

At the age of 103, Howard Tucker, the world's oldest practicing doctor, has passed away. In the years leading up to his death, Tucker was still working, crediting his long life to staying mentally active, making connections, and finding enjoyment.

Last year, he spoke to National Geographic about his philosophy on aging and how to build longevity, insights that we can continue to learn from today: https://on.natgeo.com/4jUgx65

Be holy, because GOD, who has called you to his service, is Holy.

God has set obedience to his law as the standard for righteousness. The scriptures testify to this.

(Excerpts from the NIV).

Matthew 19:16-17:

[16] Just then a man came up to Jesus and asked,

“Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?”

[17] “Why do you ask me about what is good?” Jesus replied.

“There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, keep the commandments.”

Genesis 15:6:

[6] Abram believed the Lord, and he credited it to him as righteousness.

Romans 4:23-25:

[23] The words “it was credited to him” were written not for him alone,

[24] but also for us, to whom God will credit righteousness—for us who believe in him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead.

[25] He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification.

Leviticus 19:1-2:

[1] The Lord said to Moses,

[2] “Speak to the entire assembly of Israel and say to them: ‘Be holy because I, the Lord your God, am holy."

Leviticus 18:4-5:

[4] "You must obey my laws and be careful to follow my decrees. I am the Lord your God.

[5] Keep my decrees and laws, for the person who obeys them will live by them. I am the Lord."

Psalms 101:6-7:

[6] "My eyes will be on the faithful in the land, that they may dwell with me;

the one whose walk is blameless will minister to me.

[7] No one who practices deceit will dwell in my house; no one who speaks falsely will stand in my presence."

James 1:22-25:

[22] Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.

[23] Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror

[24] and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.

[25] But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.

Revelation 12:13-17:

[13] When the dragon saw that he had been hurled to the earth, he pursued the woman who had given birth to the male child.

[14] The woman was given the two wings of a great eagle, so that she might fly to the place prepared for her in the wilderness, where she would be taken care of for a time, times and half a time, out of the serpent’s reach.

[15] Then from his mouth the serpent spewed water like a river, to overtake the woman and sweep her away with the torrent.

[16] But the earth helped the woman by opening its mouth and swallowing the river that the dragon had spewed out of his mouth.

[17] Then the dragon was enraged at the woman and went off to wage war against the rest of her offspring—those who keep God’s commands and hold fast their testimony about Jesus.

John 14:21, 23-24:

[21] Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.”

[23] Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.

[24] Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.

Psalms 15:1-5:

[1] Lord, who may dwell in your sacred tent? Who may live on your holy mountain?

[2] The one whose walk is blameless, who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from their heart;

[3] whose tongue utters no slander, who does no wrong to a neighbor, and casts no slur on others;

4] who despises a vile person but honors those who fear the Lord; who keeps an oath even when it hurts, and does not change their mind;

[5] who lends money to the poor without interest; who does not accept a bribe against the innocent. Whoever does these things will never be shaken.

Matthew 4:1-4:

[1] Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.

[2] After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry.

[3] The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”

[4] Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”

2 Timothy 3:16-17:

[16] All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,

[17] so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

And God's basic law is unchanged:

Exodus 20:1-17:

[1] And God spoke all these words:

[2] “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.

[3] “You shall have no other gods before me.

[4] “You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.

[5] You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me,

[6] but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.

[7] “You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.

[8] “Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.

[9] Six days you shall labor and do all your work,

[10] but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your animals, nor any foreigner residing in your towns.

[11] For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.

[12] “Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you.

[13] “You shall not murder.

[14] “You shall not commit adultery. [15] “You shall not steal.

[16] “You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.

[17] “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor."

07/09/2025

Jesus Christ kept the Sabbath, as his custom was.

(Luke 4:14-21, NIV):

[14] Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news about him spread through the whole countryside.

[15] He was teaching in their synagogues, and everyone praised him.

[16] He went to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue, as was his custom. He stood up to read,

[17] and the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. Unrolling it, he found the place where it is written:

[18] “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free,

[19] to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”

[20] Then he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant and sat down. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fastened on him.

[21] He began by saying to them, “Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”

Him who made the Sabbath has also faithfully kept the Sabbath.

(Genesis 2:2-3, NIV):

[2] By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work.

[3] Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done.

Of course it was the Christ who "by the seventh day had finished the work he had been doing", and so on the seventh he rested from all his work.

For the scriptures testify:

(John 1:1-4, 14, NIV):

[1] In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

[2] He was with God in the beginning.

[3] Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. [4] In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.

And:

[14] The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

So God commands us to keep the Sabbath:

(Exodus 20:1, 8-11 NIV):

[1] And God spoke all these words:

[8] “Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.

[9] Six days you shall labor and do all your work,

[10] but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your animals, nor any foreigner residing in your towns.

[11] For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.

And he did not abolish this law when he came the first time to take away our sins:

(Matthew 5:17-20, NIV):

[17] “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.

[18] For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.

[19] Therefore anyone who sets aside one of the least of these commands and teaches others accordingly will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

[20] For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.

And again:

(Matthew 19:16-17, NIV):

[16] Just then a man came up to Jesus and asked, “Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?”

[17] “Why do you ask me about what is good?” Jesus replied. “There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, keep the commandments.”

SO, BRETHREN, KEEP THE SABBATH.

Archeological évidence bas many times proven the historical truth of many events recorded in the Bible. This one is on the story of Jonah and the huge fish that swallowed him when he was fleeing from the Lord and the mission God had asked him to do - visit Nineveh and warn them that God was going to destroy the city if the people did not repent from their wickedness.

A 1,600-year-old mosaic is bringing the biblical story of Jonah and the whale to life like never before.

Discovered in the buried ruins of a Roman-era synagogue, it's the earliest known depiction of the story in an ancient Jewish context, and its intricate details hint at a much richer narrative.

The Christian After Death

Where do God's faithful go when they die?

Where did Moses, the man of God, go when he died? Him who was buried by the angel of the Lord?

How about the prophets of God? Where did they go upon their death?

How about David, the man after God's own heart?

They certainly did not go to heaven.

For this is what the Christ said:

"No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven—the Son of Man."

(John 3:13, NIV).

Again, he says that he will raise up his saints on the last day:

"All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away.

For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me.

And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all those he has given me, but raise them up at the last day.

For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day.”

(John 6:37-40, NIV).

Why would he raise up someone who is already in heaven? God resurrects the dead, not the living.

And he gave us his own example, that we may not be in any doubt about what happens when we die. For upon his death, he did not go to heaven, but lay in the grave for three days and three nights, and then God raised him up. And afterwards he went to be with the Father.

Again he says through his prophets:

"But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.

For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man.

For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive.

But each in turn: Christ, the firstfruits; then, when he comes, those who belong to him."

(1 Corinthians 15:20-23 NIV).

And again:

"The righteous perish, and no one takes it to heart;

the devout are taken away, and no one understands that the righteous are taken away to be spared from evil.

Those who walk uprightly enter into peace; they find rest as they lie in death."

(Isaiah 57:1-2, NIV).

So God's faithful who have died are in their graves, awaiting their resurrection, just like God raised the Christ, our Lord.

Listen to this:

"I declare to you, brothers and sisters, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable.

Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed—

in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet.

For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.

For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality.

When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.”

(1 Corinthians 15:50-54 NIV).

So there is your answer: God's faithful who have died are not in heaven but in their graves, awaiting their resurrection as the first fruits of God.

So next time someone tells you: "So and so has left us, he/she has gone to be with the Lord," please tell them to keep their witchcraft to themselves.

ISRAEL'S GLORIOUS FUTURE

See the beauty of the message of Isaiah chapter 54, just one of many of God's glorious promises to Israel, whose fulfilment lies ahead:

(Isaiah 54:1-17, NIV)

[1] “Sing, barren woman, you who never bore a child; burst into song, shout for joy, you who were never in labor; because more are the children of the desolate woman than of her who has a husband,” says the Lord.

[2] “Enlarge the place of your tent, stretch your tent curtains wide, do not hold back; lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes.

[3] For you will spread out to the right and to the left; your descendants will dispossess nations and settle in their desolate cities.

[4] “Do not be afraid; you will not be put to shame. Do not fear disgrace; you will not be humiliated. You will forget the shame of your youth and remember no more the reproach of your widowhood.

[5] For your Maker is your husband— the Lord Almighty is his name— the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; he is called the God of all the earth.

[6] The Lord will call you back as if you were a wife deserted and distressed in spirit— a wife who married young, only to be rejected,” says your God.

[7] “For a brief moment I abandoned you, but with deep compassion I will bring you back.

[8] In a surge of anger I hid my face from you for a moment, but with everlasting kindness I will have compassion on you,” says the Lord your Redeemer.

[9] “To me this is like the days of Noah, when I swore that the waters of Noah would never again cover the earth. So now I have sworn not to be angry with you, never to rebuke you again.

[10] Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,” says the Lord, who has compassion on you.

[11] “Afflicted city, lashed by storms and not comforted, I will rebuild you with stones of turquoise, your foundations with lapis lazuli.

[12] I will make your battlements of rubies, your gates of sparkling jewels, and all your walls of precious stones.

[13] All your children will be taught by the Lord, and great will be their peace.

[14] In righteousness you will be established: Tyranny will be far from you; you will have nothing to fear. Terror will be far removed; it will not come near you.

[15] If anyone does attack you, it will not be my doing; whoever attacks you will surrender to you.

[16] “See, it is I who created the blacksmith who fans the coals into flame and forges a weapon fit for its work. And it is I who have created the destroyer to wreak havoc;

[17] no weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and this is their vindication from me,” declares the Lord.
