DRAWING FROM THE LORD (Part 16)

Hebrews 4:15 For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.
16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Today we conclude on the topic of ‘drawing from the Lord’ by learning how to do it. Scripture here calls us to come to the Lord boldly.

The Lord invites all His children to relate with Him as a Father and a son. In teaching the disciples to pray, Jesus taught us to call God Father – “Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.” (Luke 11:2)

God is our heavenly Father. All those who believe in Jesus have become His children. We read;

Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. Beloved, now we are children of God; (1 John 3:1, 2)

We are children of God on the account of the love of God. The invitation to come boldly to the throne of God is given to all His children.

When are you to come to the throne? Today! Look at the text again; “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”

The invitation to the throne of grace is not limited to the day of trouble. God invites you to draw strength, obtain mercy and find grace that will help you in the day of trouble today. This is the way to prepare for the evil day. You arm yourself with grace from the Lord now. You draw it from the Lord by faith in His name.

Beloved, you must not faint in the day of battle because you have been drawing strength from the Lord. “If you faint in the day of adversity, Your strength is small.” (Prov. 24:10) Draw strength, be prepared for the day!

PRAYER: Hear my cry, O God; Attend to my prayer. From the end of the earth I will cry to You, When my heart is overwhelmed; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I. (Ps. 61:1, 2)

Acts 3:19 Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord,
20 and that He may send Jesus Christ, who was preached to you before,
21 whom heaven must receive until the times of restoration of all things, which God has spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets since the world began.

Here is the sermon of Apostle Peter addressing the multitudes that gathered in Jerusalem on the Day of Pentecost. Majority of these were Jews who had come from all over the region to celebrate Pentecost. The Holy Spirit came upon the believers on that day. They were heard speaking in tongues.

Look at the instructions here;
Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord,

Repentance, which is a change of mind – abandoning a certain way of thinking to adopt a new mindset. Repentance precedes “times of refreshing.’ What is this time of refreshing? We call it a move of God.

The Jews had long waited for the Messiah to come. Jesus came but they never discerned Him to be the Messiah. Though He had already died and resurrected at the point that Peter is preaching, He had also ascended to the Father. They would no longer see Him in the streets preaching and doing miracles as before.

Repent and be converted! Change your way of thinking. Come to a new mindset as ordered by the Spirit of God. Times of refreshing await you as you receive Christ and discern His ascended position of glory.

Beloved, Christ ascended to heaven and gave the church the dispensation to receive grace and dispense it to the world through the preaching of the gospel. When you engage with the Lord, you draw refreshing. When you walk in the revelation of the resurrected and ascended Jesus, then you know that He has made all things new.

God is bringing the “times of restoration of all things, which God has spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets since the world began.”

Draw your confidence from the Lord today. Repent. Preach the gospel. Receive times of refreshing!

PRAYER: So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it. (Isa. 55:11)

DRAWING FROM THE LORD (Part 14)

Luke 18:35 Then it happened, as He was coming near Jericho, that a certain blind man sat by the road begging.
36 And hearing a multitude passing by, he asked what it meant.
37 So they told him that Jesus of Nazareth was passing by.
38 And he cried out, saying, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”
39 Then those who went before warned him that he should be quiet; but he cried out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”
40 So Jesus stood still and commanded him to be brought to Him.

The blind Bartimeus sought for the mercies of God. When he heard that Jesus was passing by, he cried vehemently saying, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” Jesus heard and responded to his cry. “Jesus stood still and commanded him to be brought to Him.”

Have you lately thought about the mercies of God? The scripture in Lamentation says;

22 Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed,
Because His compassions fail not.
23 They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness.
24 “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul,
“Therefore I hope in Him!” Lam. 3:22-24

We are preserved by the mercies of God. Preserved from what? The wrath of God, the schemes of the devil and the many vices in the world today. God’s mercies are His preserving agent.

Beloved, God’s mercy is available to you every day. Man can show mercy on you but only for a limited time. People get tired to help. But God’s mercies never fail. God doesn’t show us mercy once and then issue judgment. He is a merciful God.

What troubles you today? Lean on the mercies of God. Hope on God. Build your confidence in Him. Cry out like the blind man, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”

Draw mercy from the Lord.

PRAYER: But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ. (Eph. 2:4, 5)

DRAWING FROM THE LORD (Part 13)

Philippians 4:4 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!
5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.
6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Jesus invites us to draw peace from Him. This peace that Jesus gives is not the absence of war but a spiritual substance that preserves His people. Look at the text here;

And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

The peace of God is always beyond human understanding. This peace oftentimes doesn’t make sense to the mind. It is beyond comprehension. It gives calmness when the sea is raging, it makes Jesus sleep in a sinking boat. How is that possible?

Jesus promised you this kind of peace;
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27

Jesus also promised victory that avails peace – “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (Jn. 16:33)

Dear beloved, there’s peace in God that you have access to through Jesus Christ. Draw it today. Do not allow your heart to be troubled, you believe in God. Jesus has made provision for His children to have peace that is beyond human comprehension. Quit living ordinary, tap into the supernatural peace, and overcome every fear and anxiety.

PRAYER: There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells. (Ps. 46:4)

DRAWING FROM THE LORD (Part 12)

Matthew 11:27 "All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father. Nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him.
28 "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 "Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
30 "For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."

Jesus calls every believer to enter into rest. This rest is not inactivity but a position of assurance in God that you are accepted in the Beloved.

Many religious groups base their acceptance to their deity on works. The prophets of Baal cut themselves as they sought him to answer their plea in the days of Elijah the Prophet. That is not the kind of God we worship.

Jesus said, "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

Jesus offers you rest that cannot be found elsewhere. Even the peace that He gives, the world cannot offer – "Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you.” (John 14:27)

The rest of God is wonderful. The writer of Hebrews speaks about that rest in chapter 4. Look at some verses there;

1 Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it.
3 For we who have believed do enter that rest…
9 For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His.
10 For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His.
11 Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience. (Hebrews 4)

Beloved, God has designated rest for you that is resident in His word, which believing, you enter into rest. When you receive the word of God over a matter, you enter into rest knowing that, that matter is sorted.

The scriptures explicitly shows that God honors His word. Every of His word will be performed, never fail. When you believe in the promise of God, you access and draw rest from the Lord. May you enter into the rest of God by your faith in Jesus the Christ!

PRAYER: Who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed? (Isa. 53:1) Lord, I believe Your report about me.

DRAWING FROM THE LORD (Part 11)

Isaiah 58:10 If you extend your soul to the hungry And satisfy the afflicted soul, Then your light shall dawn in the darkness, And your darkness shall be as the noonday.
11 The LORD will guide you continually, And satisfy your soul in drought, And strengthen your bones; You shall be like a watered garden, And like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.
12 Those from among you Shall build the old waste places; You shall raise up the foundations of many generations; And you shall be called the Repairer of the Breach, The Restorer of Streets to Dwell In.

Seasons are part of life – they come and go. Some of the most difficult seasons are drought and famine. You can find yourself in a season of plenty and other times of scarcity, but the Lord does not change.

Here is the promise of God;

The LORD will guide you continually, And satisfy your soul in drought, And strengthen your bones; You shall be like a watered garden, And like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.

You shall be like a watered garden whose waters do not fail! The Lord promises to change your wilderness into productivity. He has done that before and is ready to do it once again. You can draw divine life and provision in the midst of drought.

Look at Isaak, the Lord told him not to go to Egypt when the land had a drought. His father Abraham went to Egypt in the day of his drought, but God wanted to show Isaak that there’s a different way for God to do the impossible;

2 Then the LORD appeared to him and said: "Do not go down to Egypt; live in the land of which I shall tell you.
3 "Dwell in this land, and I will be with you and bless you;
12 Then Isaac sowed in that land, and reaped in the same year a hundredfold; and the LORD blessed him.
13 The man began to prosper, and continued prospering until he became very prosperous; (Genesis 26)

Beloved, Isaak sowed crops in famine and harvested a hundredfold. He got a huge harvest in the midst of famine. How? God made him like a ‘well-watered garden.’

Get ready to experience the supernatural and thrive where others fail. Draw your season from the Lord!

PRAYER: "If the LORD delights in us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us, 'a land which flows with milk and honey.' (Num. 14:8) Lord, You are my portion. Give me a great season.
