DRAWING FROM THE LORD (Part 16)
Hebrews 4:15 For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.
16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
Today we conclude on the topic of ‘drawing from the Lord’ by learning how to do it. Scripture here calls us to come to the Lord boldly.
The Lord invites all His children to relate with Him as a Father and a son. In teaching the disciples to pray, Jesus taught us to call God Father – “Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.” (Luke 11:2)
God is our heavenly Father. All those who believe in Jesus have become His children. We read;
Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. Beloved, now we are children of God; (1 John 3:1, 2)
We are children of God on the account of the love of God. The invitation to come boldly to the throne of God is given to all His children.
When are you to come to the throne? Today! Look at the text again; “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”
The invitation to the throne of grace is not limited to the day of trouble. God invites you to draw strength, obtain mercy and find grace that will help you in the day of trouble today. This is the way to prepare for the evil day. You arm yourself with grace from the Lord now. You draw it from the Lord by faith in His name.
Beloved, you must not faint in the day of battle because you have been drawing strength from the Lord. “If you faint in the day of adversity, Your strength is small.” (Prov. 24:10) Draw strength, be prepared for the day!
PRAYER: Hear my cry, O God; Attend to my prayer. From the end of the earth I will cry to You, When my heart is overwhelmed; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I. (Ps. 61:1, 2)
