*✨ Catholic Action Mass at Our Lady Consolata Cathedral ✨*

Members of *Catholic Action* gathered at *Our Lady Consolata Cathedral Parish* for Holy Mass presided over by our *Archbishop Anthony Muheria*.

In his homily, the Archbishop reminded the faithful that Catholic Action is the *root of all associations in the Church*, founded on *prayer, action, and sacrifice*. He noted that the mission of Catholic Action is to form apostles who faithfully serve Christ, following the example of their Patron Saint, *St. Charles Lwanga*, who courageously gave his life for the faith.

Reflecting on the First Reading, the Archbishop emphasized the gifts of *peace and mercy*, praying that Catholic Action members may receive the courage to defend their faith and rekindle the gifts God has entrusted to them for the service of the Church.

He challenged the members not to become complacent with what they already know, but to continue learning, especially the *Social Teachings of the Church*, so as to better serve the youth, persons living with disabilities, and society at large.

The Archbishop further encouraged them to move beyond focusing on what is lacking and instead become agents of *mercy, hope, and transformation*. Rather than merely condemning wrongdoing, they should help others discover and embrace what is right.

> _“You are the light of the world. Bring hope, light, and love to those who feel forgotten and forsaken.”_

He concluded by reminding Catholic Action members that the Church depends on their witness, leadership, and commitment to be examples of authentic Christian living in their families, communities, and the wider society.

God bless

FRIDAY 6TH MAY 2026
SAINT OF THE DAY: ST. BONIFACE,Bishop and Martyr

✓ He was born around 680 AD in Crediton, Devonshire, England

✓ As a child, he was inspired by missionaries who stayed at his father’s home and spoke of heavenly matters. He joined the monastery of Ex-minster, where he was trained in religious life and apostolic mission

✓ His first mission attempt was in (Holland): Tried to evangelize the pagan Frisians, but failed. Then he went to Rome to seek the Pope’s blessing and received authorization to preach to the Germanic tribes.

✓ He carried out Missionary Work in Germany
specifically in Bavari, Thuringi, Frieslan, Hesse and Saxony. He destroyed pagan temples and built churches on their ruins. He converted pagan objects (like sacred trees) for Christian use

✓ His most famous act was that he felled a giant oak tree dedicated to Jupiter and used its wood to build a church dedicated to St. Peter
He was consecrated Bishop in Rome, by the Pope

✓He was key in establishing religious houses for education and spiritual formation

✓ Final Mission: he set out to evangelize another pagan tribe despite his old age and growing weakness

✓ While waiting to confirm new Christians, a band of armed pagans attacked Boniface who forbade resistance, saying:

“My children, cease your resistance; the long-expected day is to come at last… Let us put our hope in God: He will save our souls.”

✓ He was martyred along with 52 companions, around 5th June 754 AD, near Dokkum (Frisia)

Saint Boniface, pray for us 🙏

*3rd June Memorial of Saint Charles Lwanga and His Companions*

Saint Charles Lwanga and his Companions were 22 Catholic converts who were martyred in the Kingdom of Buganda (present-day Uganda) between 1885 and 1887 for refusing to renounce their Christian faith. Led by Saint Charles Lwanga, a royal court official and spiritual mentor, these young men courageously remained faithful despite intense persecution under King Mwanga II. Charles not only guided them in their faith but also protected the younger pages from abuse, secretly teaching them Christian values and baptizing several converts when their lives were at risk.

In May 1886, the king ordered the ex*****on of the Christian pages after they refused to abandon their beliefs. Charles Lwanga and many of his companions endured a long march to Namugongo, where they were burned alive on June 3, 1886. Their sacrifice inspired the rapid growth of Christianity throughout Uganda and across Africa. Canonized by Pope Paul VI in 1964, the Uganda Martyrs are honored as the first martyrs of Sub-Saharan Africa and are venerated as the patron saints of African youth, converts, and torture victims. Today, millions of pilgrims gather annually at Namugongo on June 3 to commemorate their faith, courage, and enduring legacy.

Saint Charles Lwanga and the Holy Martyrs of Uganda, pray for us.Amen.

Focus: Embracing the"𝙙𝙞𝙜𝙞𝙩𝙖𝙡 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙣𝙩" as a real missionary space, focusing on digital discipleship, ethics, and the responsible use of AI.
Stop thinking of the internet as just a tool; it’s a territory. For our young people, the digital world isn't where they go it’s where they live. If the Church isn't there, we aren't just missing a trend; we’re missing a generation.

We often treat social media like a billboard for announcements, but Gen Z is looking for a home. They don't want more 'content'; they want connection . It’s time to move from broadcasting at them to walking with them in the digital streets.
The Call to Action:
Our young people are the true digital natives. Let’s stop being afraid of the screen and start empowering our youth to be the apostles of the algorithm. The next great mission field is in the palm of your hand.
