Today, September 8, we observe the sacred Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, commemorating the dawn of the Mother of God and the herald of joy for the whole world.

Mary’s humble birth marks a turning point in God’s plan of salvation, reminding us that He often works through the lowly and hidden. Her Nativity calls us to embrace humility, seek true richness in the Spirit, and trust her—our radiant hope—to lead us ever closer to Christ.

As we celebrate this blessed day with grateful hearts, we ask for her maternal intercession and guidance along our path of faith.

*✨ Confirmation Mass at Mary Mother of God Mweiga Catholic Parish ✨*

The faithful of *Mary Mother of God Mweiga Catholic Parish* gathered in celebration as *341 Christians received the Sacrament of Confirmation* and *12 couples received the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony*. The Holy Mass was presided over by our *Archbishop Anthony Muheria*.

Reflecting on the day's readings, the Archbishop reminded the faithful of their responsibility to *correct one another with humility, love, and concern*, especially when a brother or sister strays from the path of God.

He emphasized that the Church's mission includes helping those who have gone astray to *return to the way of God*. Faith, he noted, must not remain merely in words; it must be demonstrated through our actions and the way we live.

The Archbishop cautioned the faithful against allowing earthly interests to blind them to God's commandments. He particularly mentioned *bribery, dishonest business dealings, and disputes or unhealthy attachment to land*, urging Christians to remain faithful to God's commandments and the Sacraments of the Church.

The celebration also highlighted the importance of the *Sacrament of Holy Matrimony*. Archbishop Muheria reminded the faithful that strong Christian families are essential to the future of the Church, emphasizing that *without the Sacrament of Matrimony, the Church has no future.*

Addressing the *341 newly confirmed*, the Archbishop urged them to remain faithful to the Catholic faith they have received. He cautioned them not to allow themselves to be led into teachings contrary to the faith and encouraged them to trust in the *fruits and gifts of the Holy Spirit*, even when life becomes difficult.

He called upon the newly confirmed to become witnesses of *love, mercy, and generosity*, allowing the Holy Spirit to guide their choices and actions.

The Archbishop encouraged the entire Christian community to remain committed to the faith, support one another, and live as authentic witnesses of Christ in their families, workplaces, and society.

*✨ PMC Animators' Holy Mass with Archbishop Anthony Muheria ✨*

The *Pontifical Missionary Childhood (PMC) Animators* gathered for Holy Mass with our *Archbishop Anthony Muheria*, who encouraged them to embrace with joy and commitment their important vocation of accompanying children in their journey of faith.

Reflecting on the day's readings, the Archbishop reminded the animators that *we are all called to serve*, and that their particular call to serve children is an important mission within the Church. He urged them to be proud of this vocation, noting that *through their service, the Church is preparing its future*.

The Archbishop acknowledged that the work of animators is not always easy and encouraged them to remain *patient and hopeful*, assuring them that the Church appreciates and celebrates their commitment. He challenged them to carefully nurture the young people entrusted to them, because *the future of the Church is in their hands*.

He reminded the animators that their mission is ultimately to *bring children closer to Christ*. They are called to teach them the language of Christ—the language of *prayer, love, and relationship with God*. However, he noted that animators must first understand and live this language themselves if they are to effectively pass it on to the children.

The Archbishop encouraged them to help children listen to God's voice through *Sacred Scripture*, particularly the letters of St. John, which remind us that *God is love and that we are called to love one another*.

He also described the *Sacraments of the Church as wells of eternal life*, encouraging animators to lead children towards an active sacramental life and deeper friendship with Christ.

The Archbishop challenged the animators to have *eyes that see*, particularly recognising children who need greater care and support, including those coming from difficult or challenging family circumstances. He encouraged them to build a culture where *children help children*, teaching them to care for, support, and love one another.

In conclusion, Archbishop Muheria reminded the animators that they have a *mission to fulfil with Christ*. Through their service, patience, prayer, and love, they can help shape a generation of children who know Christ, listen to His voice, and become witnesses of His love.

Today, the Archdiocese of Nairobi gathered at Resurrection Garden to mark 23 years since the death of the Servant of God, Maurice Michael Cardinal Otunga - Kenya's first native bishop and cardinal.

Archbishop Philip Anyolo led the Mass, joined by Bishop Alfred Rotich of Kericho, John Cardinal Njue( archbishop Emeritus of Nairobi) , priests, and Cardinal Otunga's own family.
In his homily, Bishop Rotich remembered a man who "suffered in silence," and challenged Kenya's leaders to serve the Lord rather than exploit the people they lead.

Fr Lawrence Njoroge, Vice Postulator of the cause, confirmed that Archbishop Anyolo continues to follow up with Rome's Dicastery for the Causes of Saints - the process is alive, and moving.
Archbishop Anyolo's charge to the faithful: "The Church does not remember people because of their titles. It is because they were holy." He called on young Catholics especially not to see holiness as belonging to another generation - "it is about belonging to Christ."

SEPTEMBER 4, 2026 I 59 CMA MEMBERS COMMISSIONED INTO ST. JOSEPH DEVOTION AS CMA CELEBRATES ANNUAL DIOCESAN MASS

His Lordship Rt. Rev. John Mwandi has celebrated the Annual Diocesan Catholic Men Association (CMA) Mass at Holy Family Kabati Parish, where 59 CMA members have been commissioned into the St. Joseph Devotion. The 59 members include 40 from St. Patrick’s Mutune Parish, 18 from Queen of Apostles Mbondoni Parish, and one from Holy Family Kabati Parish.

In his homily, Bishop Mwandi advised Catholic men to understand Christian leadership not in terms of physical strength, power or material possessions, but as a responsibility rooted in their relationship with God. He emphasized that true strength comes not from muscles, wealth or status, but from trust in God, saying, “A man’s strength is not measured by his muscles or power, but by his faith in God.” He urged the CMA members to make their faith the foundation of their lives and families, reminding them that, as leaders of the families entrusted to them by God, their leadership should be reflected in their willingness to listen to the Word of God and in the integrity with which they care for and guide their families.

He encouraged the men to remain faithful to God even when they have little, urging them not to wait until they receive greater blessings before demonstrating their faithfulness. “Do not wait until God gives you bigger things to become faithful. Start with the little you have, and God will bless you with more,” he said.
