_But the Israelites said to the Lord, ‘We have sinned. Do with us whatever you think best, but please rescue us now._~ Judges 10:15
________________________
Judges 10 is a low point. Israel’s in another cycle: sin → oppression → cry out. This time God pushes back – v13-14: _“Go and cry out to the gods you have chosen. Let them save you.”_ It feels like God’s done. But Israel repents. And v15 is their surrender.

Three guidance truths here: -

1. *God’s guidance starts with honesty.* No excuses, no blame-shifting. _“We have sinned.”_ You can’t be led until you admit you’re lost.
2. *Real surrender says “do whatever you think best.”* They stopped negotiating with God. That’s trust. Guidance isn’t God rubber-stamping _your_ plan. It’s giving Him a blank check with your life.
3. *God’s mercy shows up after full repentance* – v16: _“He could bear Israel’s misery no longer.”_ His guidance isn’t withheld to punish you. It flows when your heart turns fully back to Him.

*FOCUS : GOD'S GUIDANCE IN MAY : DAY 126*
________________________
_“Now if you have acted in good faith and honesty when you made Abimelek king, and if you have been fair to Jerub-Baal and his family, and if you have treated him as he deserves — then be happy with Abimelek, and may he be happy with you.”_ ~ Judges 9:16
________________________
This is Jotham’s parable after Abimelek, Gideon’s son, murdered 70 of his brothers and declared himself king in Shechem – Judges 9:5-6. Jotham speaks from Mount Gerizim and tells the story of the trees choosing a king. The olive tree, fig tree, and vine all refuse, saying they have more valuable work to do. But the bramble/thornbush agrees to rule… and warns: _“If you have not acted in good faith… let fire come out of the bramble and consume the cedars of Lebanon”_ – v20.

*Two lessons on God’s guidance today:*-

1. *God’s guidance warns before it withdraws.* Israel rejected God’s kingship in Judges 8:23, and now they get Abimelek — a self-appointed, violent, unstable leader. Jotham’s curse is really God saying: _“You chose this. Don’t be surprised when it burns you.”_ Sometimes God lets us have what we insist on, so we learn that only His way brings life.
2. *Good faith and honesty matter in leadership and in following.* The phrase _“acted in good faith and honesty”_ appears twice – v16, 19. God’s guidance isn’t just about _who_ leads, but _how_ they lead and _how_ people respond. Dishonest crowning + dishonest ruling = destruction for both.

_But Gideon told them, ‘I will not rule over you, nor will my son rule over you. The Lord will rule over you._~ Judges 8:23
________________________
After the 300 defeated Midian, Israel begged Gideon: _“Rule over us — you, your son, and your grandson”_ – v22. He had the resume (CV), the victory, the people’s vote. But Gideon knew something about God’s guidance: _Success doesn’t make you the King_.

Two truths for you today: -
1. *God’s guidance leads you away from self-promotion.* Gideon could have built a dynasty. Instead he pointed to the real King: _“The Lord will rule over you.”_ Guidance isn’t just about what God calls you _to_. It’s also what He calls you _from_ — ego, control, taking credit.
2. *Finishing well matters more than starting strong.* Tragically, Gideon refused the crown but later made an ephod that became a snare – v27. The lesson: Saying “God rules” with your mouth isn’t enough. You have to guard your heart after the victory too.

________________________
_The Lord said to Gideon, ‘You have too many men. I cannot deliver Midian into their hands, or Israel would boast against me, ‘My own strength has saved me._~ Judges 7:2
________________________
Gideon started with 32,000 men vs. Midian’s 135,000 – Judges 8:10. Bad odds. Yet God said, _“You have too many.”_ He whittled the army down to 300. Why? Because God’s guidance often looks like subtraction before multiplication.

Two takeaways for you today: -

1. *God’s guidance protects you from self-reliance.* If you win with 32,000, you take the credit. If you win with 300, only God gets the glory. Sometimes He removes the backup plan, the extra money, the “strong” people, so you’ll know it was Him.
2. *Less can be more when God is leading.* Gideon’s 300 weren’t stronger — they were just obedient. They had torches, jars, and trumpets. Not swords. God guided them into a strategy that made no human sense, and it worked because _God Himself_ fought.

_To this end I strenuously contend with all the energy Christ so powerfully works in me._ ~ Colossians 1:29
_______________________
This verse reveals a paradox: the greater the personal effort and struggle ("strenuously contend with all the energy"), the greater the divine power that works through the believer, enabling them to accomplish tasks that would otherwise be impossible.
