*RICHES*

24th February, 2022

READ: *Ezekiel 28:1-5*

… _Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble._

*James 4:6*

*Labour not to be rich because riches can make you very proud.* God resists the proud. Why should you spend your life labouring for something that will most likely make you proud? *Why should you spend your life labouring for something that will make God resist you and fight against you?*

Riches can harm you! Giving money to someone can destroy him. *The prodigal son’s money destroyed him.* “ _There is a sore evil which I have seen under the sun, namely, riches kept for the owners thereof to their hurt_” ( *Ecclesiastes 5:13*).

*Labour not to be rich because riches are hidden and will require your whole life to find them.* “ _And I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that thou mayest know that I, the Lord, which call thee by thy name, am the God of Israel_” ( *Isaiah 45:3*).

Riches are often unusable. *Riches are often never really enjoyed by their owners.* Why is this? Many rich people are unhappy. Many rich people have bad marriages and difficult relationships. Many rich people have warped personal lives.

*Research has shown that earning more than a certain amount of money does not change your life significantly.* For instance, you simply cannot use the extra toilets and bathrooms in your house all at once. Therefore your life does not change much with the extra toilets and bathrooms.

“ _A man to whom God hath given riches, wealth, and honour, so that he wanteth nothing for his soul of all that he desireth, yet God giveth him not power to eat thereof, but a stranger eateth it: this is vanity, and it is an evil disease_” ( *Ecclesiastes 6:2*).

*HOLY SPIRIT’S FOCUS*

23rd February, 2022

READ: *Isaiah 60:5-9*

_And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! for then would I y away, and be at rest. Lo, then would I wander far off, and remain in the wilderness. Selah._

*Psalms 55:6-7*

*The Holy Spirit is like a dove. The dove does not just go anywhere.* It does not just land at every window. It chooses the safest window and the friendliest spot. Will the Holy Spirit come to your window? Are you friendly towards the Holy Spirit? Anointed people do not just go anywhere. You must be welcoming to the anointing. *Anointed people go where they are loved, honoured and respected.* Non-anointed people go where there is money to be gotten. But the Holy Spirit goes where He is honoured.

The Holy Spirit does not go everywhere. *If you do not believe in the Holy Spirit He will not come to you.* If you make fun of spiritual things He will move away. The Holy Spirit can leave at any time. He is very sensitive. If you are sensitive you will notice when His presence has lifted. *Where you do not honour the anointing, it will not work!*

The Spirit is like a dove. Because of the shape of a dove’s head its eyes can only focus on one thing. The Holy Spirit has dove’s eyes that are deliberately focused on one thing.

_Behold, thou art fair, my love; behold, thou art fair; THOU HAST DOVES’ EYES._

*The Holy Spirit is focused on you. His love is focused on the church, the bride of Christ.* God’s attention is on His people. He wants us to break forth into church planting and church growth.

*EXTRA MILE*

21st February, 2022

READ: *Philippians 3:12-20*

_Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily._

*Colossians 1:29*

*Our generation of ministers has the Laodecian spirit of complacency.* That spirit speaks today and says, “I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing.” God says, you don’t know that you are “wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked.” He continues to say, “ _I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see._” ( *Revelation 3:17-18*).

*You do need something! You are not really rich and you are not really as stable and as safe as you think.*
Until you are in your grave, there will always be a little bit more that you can do for God. Can’t you win a few more souls even though you have won many souls for the Lord already? Can’t you plant another church? Can’t you hold more crusades and campaigns and conferences for Jesus? Can’t you build another church? Can’t you give a little bit more? Can’t you write one more book? *Instead of resting now why don’t you rest in peace later?*

*Dear friend, don’t deceive yourself! You can do a little bit more!* Most people are not doing as much as they could. A little bit more prayer and a little bit more effort will make a big difference. *Why don’t you give a little bit more time to the study of the Word and to achieving of your spiritual goals?*

*Jesus spoke about going the extra mile.* If you would add a few more yards you may achieve the goal of going at least one mile for Jesus.

*RIGOUR*

READ: *Exodus 1:8-14;13:15*

“ _But they will become his slaves so that they may learn the difference between my service and the service of the kingdoms_…” *2 Chronicles 12:8, NASB*

*Pharaoh is a “type” of Satan. Egypt is a “type” of the world and Israel is a “type” of God’s people.* Pharaoh afflicted God’s people with hard labour and made them build treasure cities. *Most of the time spent in the secular world is spent building the cities of this world.* Christians simply join the army of builders to build these treasure cities.

Satan said to Jesus when he showed Him the nations of this world, “ _All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it_” ( *Luke 4:6*). He is the god of this world ( *2 Corinthians 4:4*). As Pharaoh controlled Egypt, Satan controls the world and its cities. That is why the entropy and confusion of this world is increasing steadily to its climax. When you work in the secular organizations of this world, you can be compared to the Israelites working for Pharaoh; there is much rigour, much tension and much sweat about building sandcastles.

Moses requested that the people of Israel be set free so that they could serve the Lord. *Anyone desiring to come into fulltime ministry finds himself requesting a departure from the world system.* Full-time ministry is service to the Lord! It is like going away from Egypt and into the desert to sacrifice to the Lord and build Him a tabernacle! *God wants His people to spend their time building Him a tabernacle and worshipping Him.* Escaping from the world system is not going to be easy. It was only through a determined struggle that the people of God finally escaped from Pharaoh.

8 Now there arose up a new king over Egypt, which knew not Joseph.

9 And he said unto his people, Behold, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we:

10 Come on, let us deal wisely with them; lest they multiply, and it come to pass, that, when there falleth out any war, they join also unto our enemies, and fight against us, and so get them up out of the land.

11 Therefore they did set over them taskmasters to afflict them with their burdens. And they built for Pharaoh treasure cities, Pithom and Raamses.

12 But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And they were grieved because of the children of Israel.

13 And the Egyptians made the children of Israel to serve with rigour:
