Sunday’s message was a powerful reminder that we should never return to the Egypt God has delivered us from.
The speaker emphasized that going back to Egypt is not only about physically returning to the old life,it can also begin in our thoughts, attitudes, desires and old ways of living. Sometimes we leave Egypt physically but our hearts and minds continue looking back.
God delivered the children of Israel from slavery and was leading them toward the Promised Land. Yet, along the journey, they repeatedly looked back and longed for what they had left behind. Their greatest challenge was not leaving Egypt; it was getting Egypt out of them.
The same can happen in our lives. God has brought us out of places of darkness, bo***ge, failure and destructive habits. We must not romanticize the past or return to the very things God rescued us from.
Don't go back to the old you. Don't go back to the old ways. Don't even allow your mind to keep living in the place God has delivered you from.
There is a reason God brought you out. He has already prepared a better destination ahead.
Egypt is behind you. The Promised Land is ahead of you. Keep going!
