Agriculture is the economic backbone of Kenya. To build a robust community resilience against climate variability and economic shifts, the FPFK Resilience Program spearheaded a Farmers Exhibition Day at the Kapkongoni FPFK Church Farmer Field School (FFS).

Strengthening Faith-Based Child Protection in Busia and Tororo

The PCU and FPFK Linda Mtoto Project conducted sensitization forums with faith leaders in Dabani, Busia District, and Tororo Pentecostal Church in Tororo District, Uganda, aimed at strengthening the role of faith institutions in promoting child rights and protection.

A key focus of the engagements was the formation of Faith-Based Child Rights Clubs within faith institutions. The clubs will provide safe and supportive platforms where children can learn about their rights, develop leadership and life skills, participate meaningfully in child protection initiatives, and confidently raise concerns affecting their well-being.

The sessions also enhanced faith leaders’ understanding of child safeguarding, prevention of violence and abuse, identification of protection concerns, reporting and referral mechanisms, and the importance of creating safe, child-friendly spaces within faith communities.

Faith leaders have a powerful role in influencing families and communities. By equipping them with the right knowledge and tools, the project is fostering stronger faith-based structures that can prevent child abuse, promote children’s rights and ensure that children are heard, protected and valued.

Through the Linda Mtoto Project, FPFK & PCU continues to work with faith communities to build safer environments where every child can grow, participate and thrive.

The FPFK Resilience Program (Kericho - Kisumu) successfully hosted its Farmers Exhibition Day on 26th August 2026 at Kapkongoni Farmer Field School (FFS) Grounds.

The event brought together key delegates, including Farmer Field School members, ministry officers, and community leaders, to showcase climate-smart farming practices.

Highlights included guided field tours, hands-on demonstrations on water conservation and value addition, and exhibitor stalls connecting farmers with buyers and agricultural input suppliers. The day strengthened community networks and enhanced practical knowledge on drought-tolerant crops and sustainable land management.

We thank all participants and partners for making this event a meaningful step toward building agricultural resilience in Kericho and beyond. PMU

Shompole Entry Meeting – 20 August 2026

The Maasai Community Resilience Project conducted the Shompole entry meeting (in Kajiado West Sub-County) as part of the initial engagement with key stakeholders and community members.

The meeting provided an opportunity to introduce the project, build relationships, explain the planned activities, and discuss the roles of different stakeholders in supporting successful implementation. It also helped the project staff to understand the community’s priorities, concerns, and expectations as the project sets to begin activities in the area.

This expansion was flagged off by the FPFK Head of Programs - Rev Joshua Kelele.

On the 19th August 2026, The CKU Project convened a consultative meeting with Tharaka WRUAs committees to accelerate the formation of a unified Network for all 6 WRUAs. Committee members, Sub-County Administrators (Tharaka South & North), the Water Officer, and Area Chiefs deliberated on ending riparian encroachment, removing river obstructions, and protecting water flow. The consensus: a common association is key to strengthening advocacy and scaling environmental protection initiatives across Tharaka Nithi.

Special thanks to IAS Danmark for its continued partnership and commitment to humanitarian interventions in Kenya through Free Pentecostal Fellowship in Kenya (FPFK).

From strengthening climate resilience in Turkana to advancing inclusive education, gender justice, Freedom of religion or belief and community resilience in different parts of the country, IAS Denmark’s support has contributed to meaningful change in the lives of vulnerable communities.

We are deeply grateful to PMU Sweden for its longstanding partnership and commitment to humanitarian and community development work in Kenya through Free Pentecostal Fellowship in Kenya (FPFK).

Through this partnership, communities across Kenya have been supported to strengthen peace, resilience, livelihoods, inclusion and protection, creating opportunities for people to live with greater dignity, hope and security.

Child Protection in Hotels and Entertainment Joints in Busia

On 13th August 2026, the Linda Mtoto Project conducted a sensitization forum for hotel and bar owners in Busia County, highlighting their critical role in protecting children from abuse, exploitation, trafficking and other forms of violence.

The session focused on children’s rights, child protection laws and policies, safeguarding, child labour, sexual exploitation, trafficking, and responsible reporting of suspected cases.

Participants were encouraged to create child-safe environments, remain vigilant, and promptly report suspected cases to relevant authorities and child protection actors. The engagement also emphasized the importance of collaboration among business owners, communities, law enforcement and other child protection stakeholders.

Through such engagements, the Linda Mtoto Project continues to strengthen community responsibility and collective action to protect every child.

Strengthening Child Protection Along the Malaba Transport Corridor

The Linda Mtoto Project conducted a sensitization forum for truck drivers in Malaba, bringing together key actors within the transport sector to strengthen their understanding and commitment to child protection.

The session focused on child protection laws and policies, risks affecting children along transport routes, child trafficking, child labour, sexual exploitation, abuse, and other forms of violence against children. Drivers were encouraged to recognize warning signs, avoid behaviours that may expose children to harm, and take responsibility as important actors along the busy Kenya–Uganda transport corridor.

The forum also emphasized the importance of reporting suspected cases of child abuse and exploitation through the appropriate child protection and security structures. Participants were encouraged to work closely with communities, law enforcement agencies, child protection actors, and other stakeholders to ensure that children encountered along the transport corridor are protected.

By engaging truck drivers directly, the project seeks to build a network of responsible transport actors who can contribute to preventing child trafficking, protecting children from exploitation, promoting safe reporting, and creating safer communities for children.

Every journey should be safe for every child. Together, we can strengthen protection and ensure that no child is left vulnerable along the transport corridor.
