Every journey towards peace begins with reflection, learning, and a shared vision for a better tomorrow.

In Kainuk ,South Turkana, we looked back on the milestones we've achieved, openly discussed the challenges we've encountered, and shared valuable lessons during the weekend, our Advisory Committee and Peacebuilding Volunteers gathered not just for meences in the field.

As conversations unfolded, new ideas emerged, strategies were strengthened, and our collective commitment to peace became even stronger. These moments of collaboration remind us that building peaceful and resilient communities is not the work of one person,it is the result of many voices, united by a common purpose.

With renewed energy and a clearer path ahead, we continue our journey of fostering peaceful coexistence, empowering communities, and creating lasting change.

The Kajiado Climate Change Resilience Project team recently conducted a benchmarking visit to Eswatini to learn best practices on the establishment and management of Renewable Energy and Entrepreneurship Centres. The visit provided key insights on renewable energy solutions, skills development, innovation, and sustainable entrepreneurship models through engagements with STREEC and other stakeholders. The lessons learned will help strengthen ongoing efforts towards developing a functional and impactful centre in Kajiado County.

On 26th May 2026, FPFK Linda Mtoto Project with support from NPM successfully conducted a one-day Child Safeguarding Policy sensitization forum for pastors and evangelists from Teso Region at Machakus FPFK Church in Busia.
The meeting focused on sensitizing church leaders on the reviewed FPFK Child Safeguarding Policy and strengthening their understanding of the Children Act 2022, including child safeguarding, reporting, and referral mechanisms.
Faith leaders play a critical role in promoting safe environments for children within churches and communities. Together, we continue to strengthen child protection systems and advocate for the safety, dignity, and well-being of every child.

Lasting peace goes beyond just the absence of conflict,it requires healing, resilience, and psychosocial support at the grassroots level. On May 14, 2026, our Peace and Resilience Project in Kilgoris took a significant step forward by engaging respected Kipsigis, Kuria, and Maasai religious leaders for a specialized Training of Trainers (TOT) workshop.Recognizing their unique position and influence, these leaders are being equipped with essential skills to identify, respond to, and manage psychosocial needs within their congregations. By acting as TOTs, they will work closely with our facilitators to decentralize support, ensuring that trauma-informed care is accessible, culturally appropriate, and sustainable.By fostering emotional and social well-being, we are strengthening the community’s capacity to build a peaceful and resilient future together.

NYANDO-NYAKACH FLOOD RESPONSE
From 14th to 19th May 2026, we have been distributing essential Non-Food items and Dignity Kits to flood-affected communities in Nyakach Sub-County, Kisumu County, courtesy of PMU from Sweden.

Beneficiaries were identified using specific criteria including the elderly, child-headed households, female-headed households, persons with disabilities, chronically ill individuals, pregnant and lactating mothers, and young children staying in evacuation centers and camp sites across Rangul, North Nyakach, Thurdibuoro, and West Nyakach locations.

The Non-Food items distributed include mattresses, mosquito nets, and blankets. Additionally, 900 school children have received Dignity Kits containing sanitary pads, girls' pants, and boys' boxers, as well as books, pens, and pencils to support their education. Schools that benefited include those within the four locations mentioned.

We thank PMU and all community leaders for making this support possible

In Kakong Village, elders remain the heartbeat of our communities guiding, teaching, and preserving the values that hold us together. Yet, like many communities, the challenge of division, conflict, and mistrust continues to threaten peaceful coexistence among neighbors.

Through today’s dialogue with community elders, powerful voices of wisdom reminded us that peace begins with unity, mutual respect, reconciliation, and open dialogue. Elders reaffirmed their role as custodians of culture and peace, calling on young people to reject violence and embrace understanding as the path toward a better future.

The conversation created a stronger connection between generations and neighboring communities, reinforcing our shared responsibility to safeguard harmony, stability, and development for present and future generations. Together, we continue laying the foundation for sustainable peace in Kakong Village and beyond. 🕊️
