*I WILL BUILD YOU UP*

Jeremiah 24:6-7
_6 For I will set my eyes on them for good, and I will bring them again to this land: and I will build them, and not pull them down; and I will plant them, and not pluck them up. 7 I will give them a heart to know me, that I am Yahweh: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God; for they shall return to me with their whole heart._

We can see many glimpses into the heart of God for us as He expressed His desire for the nation of Israel in the Old Testament. Today's Scripture passage is one of those times when God expresses His love for His chosen people. *Because of what Jesus did on the cross, we now are part of His incredible family and can take to heart the promises that God made to Israel in the Old Testament.*

I love how today's verses speak of God's desire for good and not evil. How He desires to restore and not destroy. How He wants to build up His people, not pull them down. He is the Gardener who plants us in good soil and does not yank us out.

Our Heavenly Father's heart has always been that we would truly know Him. Through the cross of Jesus Christ, His promise that we could have a new heart and be reconciled was made a reality. *My prayer today is that we would all know that God's intent for us is good. He loves us and wants to build us up, not tear us down. May the reality of His heart shatter any misconceptions that we have of His goodness today.*

Romans 8:28
_We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose._

*I HAVE ALWAYS KNOWN YOU*

Jeremiah 1:5
_“Before I formed you in the belly, I knew you. Before you came forth out of the womb, I sanctified you. I have appointed you a prophet to the nations.”_

This is one of the those Bible verses that speaks of our Father's intimate knowledge of us even before we were conceived. In Ephesians 1:3-6 Paul says that God chose us in Him before the foundation of the world! *If you want to read more about how much God knows you, read King David's account in Psalm 139. He declares that God knows everything about him. When he sits up and when he lies down.* David goes on to say that there is no place that he could go to escape the loving presence of God!

So what does this mean? How could God know us before we were even conceived? How could He choose us before the foundations of the world? Well, I am happy to say that I don't have the answer! Such things are too wonderful for me to comprehend. However, the best explanation that I have heard of Jeremiah 1:5 comes from a good friend of mine, James Jordan and this is how he explains it (in my own words).

Before an architect builds a building, he first has to design it. Before his masterpiece is put on paper, he carries the design in his mind and in his heart. It is the same way with us and our Heavenly Father. Before we were even conceived, He carried us within His heart until the day that He could knit us together in our mother's womb (Psalm 139:13).

*Our Father has always been intimately involved in your life. He has even taken the time to number every hair on your head! My prayer today is that we would all know this through and through and not feel alone in this world.*

Ephesians 1:3-6
_3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ; 4 even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and without blemish before him in love; 5 having predestined us for adoption as children through Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his desire, 6 to the praise of the glory of his grace, by which he freely bestowed favor on us in the Beloved, _

*LOVE COVERS*

1 Peter 4:7-8
_But the end of all things is near. Therefore be of sound mind, self-controlled, and sober in prayer. And above all things be earnest in your love among yourselves, for love covers a multitude of sins._

This is yet another Scripture passage where we read 'above all things'... *love each other. No matter how great our Christian service, if it is not rooted and grounded in the love of God, it is for nought.* No matter how many spiritual gifts we manifest, if love isn't the motivation, then we really are powerless.

In today's reading, *Peter reminds us that love covers a multitude of sins. Love doesn't expose and embarrass, love always protects* (1 Corinthians 13:4-8). Aren't you glad that this is the truth? Could you imagine if God's love didn't cover us? How would we feel if He pointed out every mistake, every sin that we made. We would be afraid to be close to Him for fear that He would humiliate us.

But that is not how love works. Love believes the best. Love protects and love covers. *My prayer today is that we would truly have a revelation of what it means to live in love. If we are judging others, we are not living in love.* If we are condemning those who may even deserve to be condemned, we are not living in love.

*May the Holy Spirit help us to extend the grace and mercy that we have received from Him to every person we meet, whether they deserve it or not... for love covers a multitude of sins.*

1 Corinthians 13:1-8
_1 If I speak with the languages of men and of angels, but don’t have love, I have become sounding brass, or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but don’t have love, I am nothing. 3 If I dole out all my goods to feed the poor, and if I give my body to be burned, but don’t have love, it profits me nothing. 4 Love is patient and is kind; love doesn’t envy. Love doesn’t brag, is not proud, 5 doesn’t behave itself inappropriately, doesn’t seek its own way, is not provoked, takes no account of evil; 6 doesn’t rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will be done away with. Where there are various languages, they will cease. Where there is knowledge, it will be done away with._

*You in Me and I in you...*

John 14:20
_In that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you._

*In yesterday's article, I talked about how God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit have all decided to make their home in our hearts. In today's blog, I am sharing yet another Scripture that speaks of our glorious union with the Godhead.*

Jesus tells His disciples that on that day (the day the Spirit is poured out), you will know that I (Jesus) am in my Father and that you are in Me and I am in you. What an amazing thought! If Jesus and the Father are one, and we are one with Jesus, that makes us one with our Father too!

*Because we are 'in Christ', we are caught up in the very union within the Godhead. We are not separated and left on our own to try to figure out how life is supposed to work. Our spirits are united with our Elder Brother who has promised to never leave us or forsake us. In Matthew 28:20, Jesus told His disciples that He would be with them even unto the ends of the earth.*

*My prayer* today is that each one of us would receive a deeper revelation of what it means to be united with Jesus who is united with His Father. We are in Christ and Christ is in us. Though it may be beyond our natural minds to grasp, may the Spirit of God that lives within us make this a tangible reality for each one of us.

Ephesians 2:4-10
_4 But God, being rich in mercy, for his great love with which he loved us, 5 even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up with him, and made us to sit with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 that in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus; 8 for by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, that no one would boast._
_10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before that we would walk in them._

*Clothed with power...*

Luke 24:49
_Behold, I send forth the promise of my Father on you. But wait in the city of Jerusalem until you are clothed with power from on high.”_

*The promise of our Father is His precious Holy Spirit. Just after Jesus' resurrection and before His ascension, He told His disciples to wait for the gift of the indwelling Spirit of God. I like how Jesus said that the result of the infilling of Holy Spirit would be that we would be clothed with power from on high.*

What a contrast from the clothing that Adam and Eve try to cover their nakedness in the garden when they used fig leaves! God has covered every believer with His very own Spirit and has promised to exchange our shame for a double portion of our inheritance (Isaiah 61:7).

*My prayer today is that we would all be reminded that we wear the royal robes that come from God Himself and we are clothed with Christ Himself (Galatians 3:27). When you look in the mirror today, why not ask Holy Spirit to help you see past your earthly garments so that you can truly see the heavenly ones that will last forever?*

2 Corinthians 5:1-4
_1 For we know that if the earthly house of our tent is dissolved, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal, in the heavens. 2 For most certainly in this we groan, longing to be clothed with our habitation which is from heaven; 3 if so be that being clothed we will not be found naked. 4 For indeed we who are in this tent do groan, being burdened; not that we desire to be unclothed, but that we desire to be clothed, that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life._

_*Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.*_
