A TRIBUTE TO MY FRIEND PASTOR JANET MUTUA.
Pastor Janie;
My Friend, My Leader, My Able and Excellent Assistant; It is with Pain, Grief, Sadness I hear of your Ascension to Glory on 7th Thursday 2026 at 4 Am!
We met first when I approached you to be my assistant in Evangelism Department I had just been asked to lead. You were hesitant but I told you that I will train and mentor you to be the best soul winner ever. You agreed and the Journey started.
You believed in the Vision of winning souls and supported me 100% without any reservations. You were a great disciple that learnt from me. You consistently asked questions. You could even call me very early in the morning and late to inquire about the Outreach plans. When everyone fails to show up, you never failed. Sometimes we used to go out together for evangelism until some quotas tagged us as a couple. That never moved you.
You had Eyes for the Souls, A compassionate heart for the Souls and able Hands for winning Souls. You were sleeping and dreaming where the next soul will come from. You never segregated anyone provided they could receive the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In my life of Evangelism and Soul winning; you really outdid the many I know of.
Together we used to do Outreach in Embakasi, Syokimau and Mlolongo but when you had grown in confidence in Soul Winning, I decided to give you a region to be in charge of. We therefore split ourselves in three Regions to increase our scope of Evangelism. I remained with Syokimau Region, Brother Zack was in Charge of Embakasi Region and I asked you to handle the Mlolongo Region. You used to come all the way from where you were staying and sometimes come and spend in Athi River so that you can Soul Winning in Mlolongo. Your Saturdays and Sundays were devoted foyr Soul winning and Church. You could even leave your businesses during the week to go for souls and visitation.
You evangelized in Mlolongo so well that the hood especially the young people knew you. You were so good that you knew where the souls lived, kept a good record of their data and kept visiting them like a good shepherd. These grew until we had a number of Fellowships happening in Mlolongo with or without my presence. I HONOR YOU JANIE (as I used to call you.)
Remember the Fellowship at Olympic Petrol Station in an Islamic Restaurant? We dared the impossible. We used to pay for tea and food so that we can have Fellowship there with souls. It grew and we had to split into two because of the numbers. We still even during COVID season when everyone was afraid; you still accompanied me for outreach in Syokimau and Mlolongo. At one Point on Karani Road the estate opposite Makueni Close; we met a young girl who was so sick. We ask the mother if we could lay our hands on her and pray for her. She accepted and we laid our hands on her like instructed by Jesus and we prayed. We left to go to another house. When we were done with that estate, the girl was up and she came out declaring that is completely healed! The pain is gone and she feels great again! You were a great Soul Winner Janie.
You had a heart of Sacrifice. You used your resources and connections to make soul winning possible. Remember we used to raise cash to buy food for everyone that was hungry. We used to give them breakfast every Sunday morning before we brought them to church so that they won't have an excuse. You sometimes used to take your own money to buy clothing to the souls that have no decent clothes. Janie, you were a gem in the Kingdom of God. On one Sunday a brother was barefooted and he wanted to come to Church. That didn't hinder you. You took Ksh 350 - the only money you had - and bought shoes for him and the gentleman went to church happy.
I remember we reached out to the Prostitutes on Madharau street in Mlolongo. It was so tough but your love for those women was amazing. I remember at one point you went to pick up one woman as she had promised you but when you knocked on her door, she told you that "Niko Na Mteja, Siendi Church!" This never killed your morale. Next Sunday you came again for her and she followed you to Church. On that Sunday she went to the altar and Got Saved! That week when we went to visit her, we were told she left the place and stopped immorality and travelled back home in Thika. I remember her name to date - Irene. This is how you were good and anointed in Transforming lives.
When I see the souls you touched still standing - One of the souls who was addicted to alcohol, has gone through all the training and soon he will be a Pastor! Am amazed at the things you did for souls.
I remember when we started ferrying people from Mlolongo; I shared the Vision with my team and everyone viewed it as a failed move even before it started except you. Everyone told me how it is going to be impossible, we don't have resources but you believed in me and told me we can do it and let's do it. On the first day, we managed to bus only one soul yet we had paid for the entire 14 Seater Nissan but still you believed in the Vision. We continued and the next Sunday we did bus 3 Souls in a full Paid Nissan. At the end of a month, we were bussing 8 Souls. Fast forward; because of the Patience, consistency, believing in the Leader; we ended up ferrying a full Nissan Packed of souls. I left that for you and started my own. Before we knew it, we had two Nissan's carrying people from Mlolongo plus One Bus! What a Soul Winner! Proud of you Janie!
There was also a time you did Anagkazo in Embakasi while I was doing Anagkazo in Mlolongo. You surprised me when you brought an entire bus of young new people! The excitement on your Face was the Joy of God at hand. I know sometimes it backfired on us especially when People saw that the souls were dirty, smelling and not good people to hang around with. They didn't know Great things came from obscure places.
And what more shall I say Janie? For the time would fail me to tell of the Sojourns in Kicheko Slums, Magorofani Slums in Syokimau. Of the Victories in soul winning through healings we demonstrated, the word of knowledge together when winning souls, the prayers we made until God came through for souls. The House rents we paid for people, the Shoppings we did for souls and families that were struggling! Janie, time will fail me to speak of your Service to the Kingdom of God. I celebrate your Life and Service! You have touched Tens of Thousands of Souls through Soul Winning and your selfless acts.
The World ignored you but remember it was not worthy of you! I talked to you towards the end of last year and the beginning of this year. We had planned to meet and check up on each other after your years of pain, depression and silence. But Death has stolen the moment from us. I love you my sister and fellow servant in the Kingdom. You are Precious and you are the delight of God even as you rejoice in Heaven.
Matthew 25:21
His lord said to him, 'Well [done,] good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.'
Thank You for being: A Good, Faithful, Committed, Kingdom Minded Servant. As you have Entered into the Joy of the Lord, May He dry your Tears Fellow Servant Janie!
Safiri Salama, Tutaonana Baadaye My Sister Janie!
