Jonah tried to escape God's assignment by sailing in the opposite direction, but God's plan for his life remained. The storm, the great fish, and Jonah's restoration all showed that God's calling is stronger than our attempts to avoid it.
"But Jonah rose up to flee unto Tarshish from the presence of the Lord..."

Yet God pursued Jonah and called him again:
"Then the word of the Lord came unto Jonah the second time, saying, Arise, go unto Nineveh, that great city, and preach unto it the preaching that I bid thee."

Encouraging Word
You may delay God's calling, but you cannot destroy it. You may run from it, but God's purpose will still pursue you. Fear, failure, and excuses cannot cancel what God has ordained. The same God who found Jonah in the depths of the sea can find you wherever you are and lead you back into His purpose.
