_From the Pulpit_
*UNITY: THE RALLYING CALL FOR THIS YEAR'S MOTHERS UNION SUNDAY*

*Mrs.Diner Omongo,* a Mothers Union member at ACK St.Stephens and Mary Magdalene Church, Waithaka Parish, was on Sunday, August 4 the preacher at the 800-seater capacity Sanctuary. She shared from *many* Bible texts but centred mostly on Psalm 133:1-3.

Mrs.Diner thanked the Congregants for accepting her and allowing her to grow, citing that she was only Commissioned as a Mothers Union member the previous year.

" _Where there is unity, there is also disunity as the devil is always at work. As a Church we need unity for us to fellowship and prosper. Unity is an asset in our Church and our homes,"_ Mrs.Diner began her homily to a sea of mostly blue-dressed Christians who had come to show support for the Mothers Union department.

Drawing from John 17:20, Mrs.Diner emphasized on the importance of having unity by saying: _"Jesus prayed for the unity of the Church. He wants us to live and fellowship together by loving one another,"_ adding, _"Even building this Church required unity."_

The Speaker informed the Believers that unity is paramount and continued her preaching by saying: _"Prayer is a must for unity to prevail."_

Being a day for the Mothers in the Parish, she challenged her peers this way, _"Mothers are the pillars of their families. Let us remember to pray for our spouses and children. Marriages are under attack, stand firm."_

Mrs.Diner finished her message by outlining key benefits of unity from Acts 4:32-35. These are just but a few:

i)Unity enables God to work in our lives - Praying for the Church enables the love of Jesus to richly dwell amongst us (Ephesians 4:13).

ii)When we have unity we shall accomplish the work and mission that Jesus assigned us to do in the Great Commissioning (Matthew 28:19-20).

iii)Unity opens the doors of blessings.

iv)Unity gives us an environment conducive to do God's work.

v)Unity connects us to holiness of God - We are able to serve God's people joyfully.

vi)Unity helps us to offer thanksgiving to God.

vii)Unity draws us near to God.

Mrs.Diner's epilogue was simple: "Our unity will make us thrive and we shall not hunger nor thirst for righteousness."

Later on, the Mothers Union department had their fundraiser that raked in about *Ksh.800K*

(Minutes before the preaching was shared, the AreaDean and Vicar of Waithaka Parish, *Rev.Capt.Stanley Kinyanjui* spoke to the Congregants about upcoming activities. He mentioned a 3-day event dubbed _Turning Point Conference_ which is set to run from *_August 30 to September 1_*. The event shall bring together Preachers around Waithaka and musical guests)

Thank you Once again for showing up at the feet of Christ.. @ Florence, Abi, Dante, Emmah, Njoki, Brian, joyloise, Bennie and Jamlick... It was Beautiful.
SERMON by Njoki
HOW TO I DENTIFY ONESELF WITH CHRIST.
Last week pst Brian preached from the book of Isaiah 54:17" no weapon formed against you shall prosper"
And there is something that stood out for me
He said you cannot enjoy such benefits if you've not identified yourself with God
So i thought what then is this identity and how can you identify yourself with God
Identify is who you are right???
Am Njoki Muiruri
Why do i have the right tk call myself Muiruri and not Mwangi or waweru ..,
Because he is my dad
Because am his child
So how then can you have an identity with God
1. By being God's Child
How then can you be God's child
1.Through baptism
You are born again John 3:5
You receive Christ. John 1:1
2. By having faith Galatians 3:26
3.Through Jesus Christ Ephesians 1:5
4. By having the values of Christ and incorporating them into your life
. Love- Ephesians 12:9-10, Matthew 2:37-40
. Justice, Mercy and Honestly Matthew 23:23
.Obedience Luke 2:51

Benefits of having an identity with God
1. Living confidently Jeremiah 17:17
I'm no longer a slave to fear
I am a child of God
2. Walking in your purpose
3. Isaiah 54:17

Having and identity with God is its unchanging or unwavering

Someone once said that
Our identity is not our joy
Our identity is not our suffering
Our identity is in Christ
Whether we have joy or are suffering

Blessed night.

*A STATEMENT ON THE CURRENT STATE OF AFFAIRS*

What started as peaceful protests is, unfortunately, escalating out of proportion!

*The Anglican Diocese of Mt. Kenya South condemns in the strongest terms possible the excessive force unleashed Yesterday to unarmed peaceful demonstrators in the hands of government security agencies.*

_We mourn in solidarity with the families of the departed youths whose lives were prematurely ended in the process of exercising their democraric rights._

*_Such brutality is totally uncalled for, outrageous, lamentable, and regrettable._*

*It is our moral duty to vehemently insist that all security agencies exercise their duties with restraint and in line with the rule of law even as the killers of our children are subjected to the due process of the law.*

_We urge all protesters to refrain from looting and destruction of private property as this will water down any achievements garnered so far. Similarly, our proximity to the city makes our region the bedroom of Nairobi; we therefore stand to lose immensely if lawlessness persists in the country._

*Finally, I beseech all esteemed Christians, Clergy, Evangelists and Lay-Readers to earnestly intercede and offer prayers for our nation continuously and consistently; for it is in God that we live, reign and have our being.*

*RT. REV'D CANON CHARLES MUCHENE MUTURI OGW CSt.J,*
