1
I’m pressing on the upward way,
New heights I’m gaining every day;
Still praying as I onward bound,
“Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.”
Lord, lift me up, and let me stand
By faith on Heaven’s tableland;
A higher plane than I have found,
Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.
2
My heart has no desire to stay
Where doubts arise and fears dismay;
Though some may dwell where these abound,
My prayer, my aim, is higher ground.
3
I want to live above the world,
Though Satan’s darts at me are hurled;
For faith has caught the joyful sound,
The song of saints on higher ground.
4
I want to scale the utmost height
And catch a gleam of glory bright;
But still I’ll pray till rest I’ve found,
“Lord, lead me on to higher ground.”

It was all smiles as the entire church welcomed back our pastor, Bishop Maurice J. Mwale, after a 2 month long mission trip that took him around the country preaching in conferences training pastors and church workers in both practical ministry and bible knowledge.

In his sermon, being the first service on his return which also was the new year message, he ushered the church family into the 2023 challenging the members to respond to the message of Sons Arising with haste.

For the last two months the church has been having the theme dubbed Sons Arising encouraging the members to arise and take their place as responsible sons both in the local assembly and the universal church.

Drawing lessons from how people responded to the message of the birth of Christ, he presented to the members those surrounding the events of Christ being born for them to choose who to emulate.

1. The magi - they traveled for over one year, to get to Herod and then some. The commitment that displayed is something to be emulated. Matthew 2:1-12
2. Herod - He pretended to want to go and worship the baby Christ although his intention was nothing close to that. Matthew 2:3-8
3. Simeon - who waited anxiously for the birth of Christ and received him with joy. Luke 2:25-35
4. Ann - At 84yrs, she lived in the temple, earnestly waiting for the birth of Christ. Luke 2:36-40
5. The inn-keeper - despite having the opportunity to provide room for the birth of the Messiah, he missed the privilege and let the King be born in a manger.
6. The Chief priests and scribes - despite having the knowledge from scriptures of the birth of the Messiah and even being reminded by the Magi, they seem not to be interested with the same person they were waiting for to save the nation of Israel.
7. Egypt - a whole nation never even noticed that the king of kings had visited them, living among them for over three years. Matthew 2:13-23

It is the shepherds that were the source of the rallying call, responding with haste, who upon hearing the message of the birth of Christ, abandoned what they were doing and left in haste. Luke 2:16

WELCOMING DAD HOME
When November began, two months looked like a very long time. He said he was going to be away for two months. And yes he has been away for two months. But finally he is coming home.

What message does he have for 2023? What direction does he have for the church in 2023?

Will you join me in welcoming back home our pastor, our father?

DO NOT MISS!

REDEEMING CHRISTMAS
Receive greetings from our father, our bishop and pastor. In his Christmas message, Redeeming Christmas, he admonished the sons to change their view of Christmas. He said Christmas is a day that people should prioritize the commemoration of the birth of Christ and not family meetings, parties, road trips, food, clothes and all the other things that take preeminence in the modern world.

Christmas is a celebration of the birth of Christ. Like the shepherds that visited baby Jesus in the manger, we must be moved by his birth, make the message of his birth central and celebrate his birth. He argued that the best people to celebrate Christ with are the people who also believe Christ, our church family.

He challenged members of GCC to make Christmas a service with the greatest impact saying the day we celebrate the birth of our savior must be done the way it actually reflect his personhood, his earthly life, his vicarious atoning work on the cross and his death and eventual resurrection and glorification into heaven. Christmas must be a big day.

We have started making plans for December 25th 2023. The celebration will be held at Grace Covenant Church,Umoja Innercore, from 10am - 2pm and other centers countrywide. Make plans to attend.

May we redeem Christmas.
