Day 10 Saturday Feb 25, 2023
Yesterday we were able to take a Field Trip to Karura Forest Park with our Sponsor kids and a few Admin and social workers from MOHI. It was a great experience to get to know them a little better, see what they like and dislike and just visit. Had a chance to ask what their needs are and spend some quality time sharing the day with them playing games, going on an amazing hike in a beautiful park in the north side of Nairobi. Then we went to Garden City Mall and had lunch at KFC with them.
So nice to get out and share in an experience they rarely, if ever get to see. God is certainly watching over these kids and sharing his love through us, to be able to support them and extra special for us to spend time loving on them. Praying for them to continue to grow in Him and ask for your prayers to continue while we are here on this trip!

Day 9 was first day of VBS at Gitathuru for our team.
We started with the “little kids”, 4 and 5 yr olds. Challenging at times, but also had some great fun. Moved up to Grade1. Worship, Story Time, Arts n Crafts, and Recreation kept the team busy for the day.
Lots of kids, lots of energy and a long day.
After VBS the team broke up into 3 teams and went on some home visits and got to see some of the parents at home and pray with them for their concerns and struggles.
Dean (me) spent the first part of the morning at VBS, and then once again connected up with Jose from Africa Fire Mission and went to Kariobangi at the Vocational School for MOHI.
There I got to spend the day teaching and doing practical hands on training with live fire. We started with the classroom session of lecture on types of fires and Extinguisher education and general fire behavior. We taught Fire Extinguisher training, cooking fires, and working with a Fire Blanket on live fires. And ended with several of the students getting to do some hands on training.
It was a great time for all on the team today. Thanks so much for all the planning from MOHI on the VBS and coordinating all of the movement.
Thanks to Africa Fire Mission as well for partnering with Dean Schulze and helping teach live long skills in Fire Training.

Day 8 was yesterday. (Thur 23)
Thursday we traveled back from Angaza, sad to leave such an amazing place with such an inspiring atmosphere.
The flight was delayed by over an hour and a half due to “Operational” issues?!?
So it was a long delay at the Malindi Int Airport.
Which kinda reminds me of maybe the Redmond Airport. 🤣😁
We made it back safely and paid a visit to Amani Ya Juu, had lunch and did some shopping. Amani Ya Juu is also an amazing story that if you don’t know about it, you should ask someone or look it up online. An inspiring story about a successful venture by another lady trying to help people less fortunate.
Then it was home to work on lesson plans and set up for VBS which started the next day at Gitithuru! It was a long day with the plane delay, but ready for bed when it came.

Day 6 and 7 (Trip to Angaza Discovery Camp) aka:”Keith’s Dream”.
We took a short flight to Malindi “International” Airport, near Kilifi, Africa.
This is an amazing camp that is providing life changing experiences for the kids of MOHI, Grade 6.
It is hard to explain the feeling of this camp and the excitement of this kind of growth for MOHI.
These kids get to share in many different experiences that so many people in Africa don’t get to experience and certainly not from the slums of Nairobi.
What we felt while sharing this with them was moving and emotional at the least.
From ”going to camp”, to seeing- let alone swimming in the Indian Ocean, to riding a horse, some amazing worship (daily), devotions, activities, challenge course, arts n crafts, field trips to see animals and marine life in a bay.
God is doing great things through MOHI that is changing lives and leading children to a firm foundation in Christ!
Keep doing great things MOHI.
We were just blessed to come along beside them and briefly share a moment with them for two days.

Day 5.
A full day at Gitathuru MOHI school today doing an Eye Clinic. Close to 500 kids were evaluated and many will be referred for glasses.
And many staff members were also assessed and many were given glasses on site.
Amazing to watch them see an immediate impact for absolutely no cost!
It feels good to share Gods work to so many. Dean was able to connect with africafiremission.org and worked with Jose to help teach some basic fire prevention to the kids of the Health and Safety Club!

A very long day but much work was accomplished. God Bless you all for praying for us. Keep them coming. We are just getting started.

Day 4 for us was Church at Gitithuru.
The group enjoyed an amazing worship service where they honored us as guests and had an incredible worship service.
That was followed by lunch at the Java House, a nice little one with good visits with the lead from MOHI and a few staff from the Main Center.
Then to the store to do a little shopping for needs for the trip and treasures for home. Back to the Guest House for dinner and and about an hour and half of work, putting together gift bags, about 850 of them for the kids that we will do the VBS (Vacation Bible School) with. It was hot outside and warm everywhere. We enjoyed the day and looked forward to some rest. Everyone is doing well and feeling great about the work and this experience. Shout out to our amazing bus driver Peter! And the amazing staff at the guest house that seem to take care of our "every" need. Thank you and God Bless them. So grateful for them.
