When missionary John Paton was translating the Scripture for the South Sea islanders, he was unable to find a word in their vocabulary for the concept of believing, trusting, or having faith. He had no idea how he would convey that to them. One day while he was in his hut translating, a native came running up the stairs into Paton's study and flopped in a chair, exhausted. He said to Paton, It's so good to rest my whole weight in this chair.

John Paton had his word: Faith is resting your whole weight on God. That word went into the translation of their New Testament and helped bring that civilization of natives to Christ. Believing is putting your whole weight on God. If God said it, then it's true, and we're to believe it.

A PRAYER THAT WILL NOT BE SILENCED
Pray with me!
Lord of hosts, today we lift our voices before You with broken hearts but unshaken faith.
The world feels it. The Middle East bleeds. Other nations weep under the weight of war, displacement, and fear. The images overwhelm us, the news wears us down… but our hope is not anchored in headlines, but in the God who governs history.
📖 “He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth; He breaks the bow and shatters the spear, He burns the shields with fire.” — Psalm 46:9
Heavenly Father, we pray:
🕊️ For peace — not the kind the world offers and slips through our fingers, but the peace only You can establish between hearts and between nations.
🩸 For the victims — for every man, woman, and child who today sleeps beneath the thunder of bombs, who flees carrying only what their arms can hold, who mourns an irreparable loss. May Your hand cover them when no human hand can reach.
🌍 For Your Church in conflict zones — that every believer in the Middle East, in Eastern Europe, in Africa, and in every troubled corner of the world would be salt and light, refuge and witness. Let no war extinguish the flame of the Holy Spirit.
🔥 For an outpouring of the Spirit — because we believe, with everything we are, that the greatest response to darkness is not diplomatic silence but revival. That in the midst of chaos, thousands would run into the arms of the Father. That the crisis would become the threshold of the harvest.
✈️ For the missionaries — those who remain when everyone else flees, who preach in languages the world does not understand but the Spirit translates, who plant churches among the ruins. Sustain them, protect them, multiply them.
Lord, we are not naive. We know that wars are the consequence of the human heart turned away from You. But neither are we pessimists, because we have read the end of the Book and we know that You win.
Marana tha — Come, Lord Jesus!
And while You come, here we are: praying, sending, believing.

Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus going on before!
Christ, the royal Master, leads against the foe;
Forward into battle see His banner go!

2Cor 13:4 For indeed He was crucified because of weakness, yet He lives because of the power of God. For we also are weak in Him, yet we will live with Him because of the power of God directed toward you.

Richard Halverson says: Christian growth is not the struggle to become the kind of person we think God wants us to be, but a surrender of our bodies, all our faculties, our right to ourselves, to God that He may make us and mold us into the image of His Son, that through us His life and love and grace might flow.

Galatians 2:20 is foundation truth and experimental truth in one These words mean the breaking of my independence and surrendering to the supremacy of the Lord Jesus.
No one can do this for me, I must do it myself. There is no possibility of debate when once I am there.
It is not that we have to do work for God, we have to be so loyal to Jesus Christ that He does His work through us. We learn His truth by obeying it.

The miracle for impact and growth is within. 80% of the resources are in your house only 20% will come from outside grace, pay attention to what God is doing within your midst.

"'For in him [in Christ] every one of God's promises is a 'Yes.' For this reason it is through him that we say the 'Amen' to the glory of God.' In other words, faith is saying 'Yes' to God's Yes in Christ...Indeed, faith is not a human accomplishment or 'work,' but rather the grateful acknowledgment of being embraced by the Yes of God's grace toward us."
-- J. Christiaan Beker (commenting on II Cor. 1:20) --
