*Hold your judgment*
2 Samuel 16:23
_Now in those days the advice Ahithophel gave was like that of one who inquires of God. That was how both David and Absalom regarded all of Ahithophel’s advice._
Ahithophel was a great adviser. If he advised you, you'd better take heed. His advice was like that of a man who had heard from GOD. He always hit the bulls eye with his advice.
Therefore Ahithophel was the Kings counsel,
1 Chronicles 27:33 _Ahithophel was the king’s counselor. Hushai the Arkite was the king’s confidant._
But Ahithophel was also the father of Eliam, Eliam was the father of Bathsheba. Bathsheba was the wife of Uriah. Uriah was a dedicated soldier, a real devoted follower. One who would never have betrayed his king and country. He would not go home to enjoy with his wife yet his compatriots were in war. That was the level of his devotion. But David killed him. He killed him because he was too loyal to his battalion and to his course and to his king. He killed him because he didn't go to sleep with his wife Bathsheba and remained with the soldiers who guarded David.
But after Uriah's death Bathsheba bore a child to David whose name was Solomon. Solomon was the wisest man who ever lived. He built a temple that was a wonder. He made Israel so rich that gold was too common.
GOD loved Solomon.
Imagine if David was a leader of our times, imagine the headlines on the news. Yet GOD loved Solomon. Solomon! the son of the union of David and Bathsheba. Truly when GOD forgives, HE really does. And something else GOD said,
2 Samuel 12:8
_I gave your master’s house to you, and your master’s wives into your arms. I gave you all Israel and Judah. And if all this had been too little, I would have given you even more._
Imagine GOD said HE gave to David the wives of Saul. Ha! But David still went for Bethseba. (Were the wives of Saul not attractive or were they too old for him?)
Now you know why Ahithophel betrayed David. He couldn't stomach the act of David.
But who are you oh man to judge! GOD loved Solomon and blessed him in a way HE had never blessed anyone before. And of David HE said, I have never seen a man like David, a man after my own heart.
2 Samuel 12:24
_Then David comforted his wife Bathsheba, and he went to her and made love to her. She gave birth to a son, and they named him Solomon. The Lord loved him;_
Acts 13:22 _After removing Saul, he made David their king. God testified concerning him: ‘I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do.’_
Who are you oh man to judge? Hold your Judgement and let GOD do it lest you find you are fighting not man but GOD.
Shalom
