MOSES, ELIJAH AND JESUS at the mount of transfiguration.
These three had to be gathered at the mount of transfiguration, because they were mantle passers, who cared about the future of what God had began through them.
When God told Moses that he will not enter the promised land, Moses didn't act in a selfish manner but he asked/requested God to appoint a leader in his place to lead the Israelites into the promised land, and God chose Joshua in his place. NUMBERS 27:12-23
When Elijah was to be taken to heaven, Elisha asked for Elijah's double portion of the power that Elijah had and it was granted when he saw Elijah being taken by the chariots of fire. 2KINGS 2:9-15
When Jesus was to be taken to heaven, He asked the disciples to stay at Jerusalem until the Holy Spirit comes upon them.
All these three were preparing people to continue with the work that had been started and those who continued it (the work) had great success.
Fast forward to today. Many of us who have been called or mandated to lead God's people are never comfortable at "passing the mantle", but want to lead the "Hollywood" style. (Where if the "starring" dies, the movie ends)
Jesus called us to "make disciples" not our own followers.
One question l and we should ask ourselves is. If there was a moment of Jesus going to the mount of transfiguration, can we be "invited" or our selfness will hinder us from being their?
Now because there may not be another Mount of Transfiguration in our life, the question we should ask ourselves is, "does how l serve God and perceive others when it comes to mantle passing, make me miss the opportunity to be with Jesus, in heaven?"
Many will miss heaven because of being selfish on matters of the Kingdom. We have been called to serve, even as we prepare to pass on the mantle to those who we have adequately prepared through the ministration of the true word of God.
Being or becoming a "cult leader" is punishable by God, and this punishment is eternal.
