With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of our Bishop Bernard Tissier de Mallerais, who fell asleep in the Lord on October 8, 2024, at the age of 79.

Born on September 14, 1945, in Sallanches, France, Bishop Tissier dedicated his life to preserving Catholic Tradition. After earning a master’s degree in biology, he joined the International Seminary of Saint Pius X in Fribourg, Switzerland, in 1969 under the guidance of Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre. He was ordained a priest on June 29, 1975, and went on to serve as a professor and rector at the SSPX’s seminary in Écône.

In 1988, he was consecrated a bishop by Archbishop Lefebvre and Bishop Antônio de Castro Mayer. From that time on, Bishop Tissier traveled the world, administering sacraments, preaching, and offering pastoral care to the faithful.

Bishop Tissier is also remembered for his insightful writings, especially his renowned biography of Archbishop Lefebvre. His tireless service and unwavering commitment to the traditional Latin Mass have left an indelible mark on Catholic Tradition.

Please join us in praying for the repose of his soul. His legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.

The greatest dogma of the Christian Faith is the mystery of the Holy Trinity, a supernatural truth revealed by God that surpasses human understanding. For the first thousand years of Christianity, there was no specific feast dedicated to celebrating this mystery. Pope Alexander II (1073) explained that every day of the liturgical year honored and adored the Holy Trinity.

To counteract the A***n heresy, which denied the full divinity of the Son, a special Mass text honoring the Holy Trinity was introduced in the liturgical books. Initially, its use was left to the discretion of individual priests, similar to today's votive Masses. From the 9th century onwards, bishops in the Frankish kingdoms began to hold special celebrations of the Holy Trinity, typically on the Sunday after Pentecost, using a Mass text from Abbot Alcuin, an advisor to Charlemagne, from 804.

However, it was not until 1334, under Pope John XXII, that the Feast of the Holy Trinity was officially inserted into the Western Church's calendar. Notably, the beautiful Preface of the Trinity, recited on all Sundays after Pentecost, dates back to the time of St. Gregory the Great. The breviary office for this feast, one of the most sublime of the year, includes the famous Creed of Athanasius.

Happy Feast of the Holy Trinity!

Archbishop Lefebvre is one of the most fascinating characters of the twentieth century. Missionary priest, Archbishop of Dakar, Delegate Apostolic, founder of the Society of St. Pius X, Archbishop Lefebvre still intrigued a lot of Catholics for his role and work especially during and after the Second Vatican Council.

On this day of Epiphany, let us turn toward the Magi, the three Kings.

What strikes us first in their story is the unbelievable journey which they undertook to reach Bethlehem. It was not a small expedition for them to come to the manger! How is it that pagans were able to leave their activities, their family, their town, their country to come adore Our Lord?

In order to understand, we have to raise our eyes to Heaven. The mysterious star is what gives us the key to their undertaking. Without the star, the story of the Magi makes no sense at all. But with the star seen by them in the heavens, and above all with the star of interior light giving
them access to the supernatural world, their story finds all its meaning.

“The star of the Magi was not an ordinary star.” The proof is that it shone in full daylight, that it went forward and stopped depending on the needs of the pilgrims, and above all that, it was situated at the height of a man in order to guide them more surely. It was a figure of the interior light which guided their soul. “It was the visible manifestation of an invisible power.” It was the outward sign of their faith. The Magi, therefore, had faith. They said to Herod in speaking of Jesus, We are come to adore Him. They therefore believed in His divinity.

Lord Jesus, with the Magi, I believe in Thee, I adore Thee and I love Thee.

On this day, December 8th, the clerical members of the SSPX make their engagements, thus incorporating themselves into the Society, a pious union of priests who live in common life.

Let us pray for those seminarians who will be making their first or renewed engagement into the SSPX. Let us explicitly remember the Society priests who will be renewing or making their permanent engagements. May all of these clergy remain faithful to their priestly society of the Roman Catholic Church.

Let us also rely on Our Lady to keep ourselves free of every stain of sin - just as she was immaculately conceived.

"We must! We must live without sin, we must struggle against anything that might tarnish our souls, so that it can be said of our souls: "Tota pulchra est, et macula non este in te - Thou art all fair and there is no stain in thee: Let there be no stain in our souls so that we may worthily receive Our Lord Jesus Christ." - Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre

Some wise words from our Superior General Father Pagliarani.
"So what is eternal and makes our fight invincible? It is Faith. Verbum Domini manet in aeternum. (1 Peter 1:25)"

The famous "1974 Declaration" of Archbishop Lefebvre was an affirmation of the Catholic Faith in response to the Modernist crisis afflicting the post-conciliar Church.

On November 21, 1974 Archbishop Lefebvre, scandalized by the opinions expressed by the two Apostolic Visitors, drew up for his seminarians "in a spirit of doubtlessly excessive indignation" this famous declaration as his stand against Modernism.
