FOURTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR A

5TH JULY 2026

LITURGICAL COLOR: GREEN 💚

THEME OF THE SUNDAY:
```GOD REVEALS HIMSELF TO THE POOR. ```
The gospel shows Jesus “gentle and humble,” that is, on the side of the poor and the oppressed. He rejoices because it is to them that the father has revealed his message of salvation. In the first reading we find the words of the prophet announcing a Messiah who is poor and humble. These appear to be words that describe Jesus. The second reading can be linked to this theme because it speaks of the Spirit who can only be received by the poor, by those who are “humble in heart.”_
ENTRANCE ANTIPHON cf.Ps47:10-11
Your merciful love, O God, we have received in the midst of your temple. Your praise, O God, like your name, reaches the ends of the earth. Your right hand is filled with saving justice.
Blessed Sunday 🙏
_“Behold, your king comes to you, humble.”_
*A reading from the Book of the Prophet Zechariah*
Thus says the Lord: Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king comes to you; triumphant and victorious is he, humble and riding on a donkey, on a c**t the foal of a donkey. I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim and the war horse from Jerusalem; and the battle bow shall be cut off, and he shall command peace to the nations; his dominion shall be from sea to sea, and from the River to the ends of the earth.
"Christ held Himself in His hands when He gave His Body to His disciples, saying: 'This is My Body.' No one partakes of this Flesh before he has adored it."
Let us Pray.
O God, who in this wonderful Sacrament have left us a memorial of your Passion, grant us, we pray, so to revere the sacred mysteries of your Body and Blood that we may always experience in ourselves the fruits of your redemption.
Today, our hearts overflow with gratitude as we celebrate the Feast of Corpus Christi and witness the beautiful procession at Holy Mary Mother of God Githurai. We also rejoice with our children who received the Sacrament of First Holy Communion, welcoming Jesus in the Holy Eucharist in a special way for the first time.
May the Body of Christ continue to nourish their faith, guide their steps, and fill them with His love and grace. Congratulations to all the communicants, their families, and our parish community on this blessed occasion.
"Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in them." (John 6:56)
You might have noticed this part of the Good Friday service—where the priest walks in, dressed in red, and suddenly lies down flat on the floor. Even if you haven't, today you definitely saw it at the service.😊
No one says anything. No singing. Just silence 🤫🤐
It can look strange if you don’t know what it means. But it’s actually one of the most powerful moments in the Church’s liturgy.
That posture—lying face-down—is called PROSTRATION. It’s a sign of deep sorrow and total humility. The priest does it, not to perform, but to join the Church in mourning.
Today, we remember the death of Jesus. And in that silence, the Church is saying: “This is serious. Something heavy is happening here.”
It’s like when someone you love dies and you just sit there quietly—you don’t have the words, only the weight of what you're feeling.
That silence is not empty. It’s full of meaning.
Know you know😊
