PROMOTION TO HIGHER GLORY OF REV. JULIUS NGARI NDUMIA

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Rev. Julius Ngari Ndumia.

The Moderator Rt. Rev Thegu Mutahi has shared a condolence message as quoted below.

“Good afternoon and Praise God. This is a very sad day for our Church the Presbyterian Church of East Africa because this morning we woke up to very sad news of the death of our minister of Nakuru East Presbytery. The Minister Tabuga Parish Rev. Julius Ngari Ndumia who was assaulted by unknown criminals last night at around 10/11 pm. Killed in cold blood. We got the information early today but we had to let the next of kin be made aware, his wife, Esther Wangui and his parents on both sides. We are very sad because death is painful and it is even more painful when it comes through criminality. I have talked to the area MP, Mheshimiwa Irene who is our member and she has talked to the IG and they are following up on the matter. Other than the minister, the watchman was also wounded. It was in the church manse in Tabuga. It is very unfortunate that such a heinous act can happen.

We send our heartfelt condolences to Esther the spouse of the late Ndumia, their children, his parents from both sides, Tabuga Parish, Nakuru East Presbytery and the entire PCEA. Much as we mourn, we also are believers and want to be comforted by Psalm 34:18 ‘The lord is close to the broken-hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit’. The death of Rev. Ndumia has really crushed us but the Lord will comfort us.”

We invite the entire church to be in prayers for the family, church and the entire nation during this sad moment.

…AND THE MODERATORIAL TROPHY GOES TO ABERDARE PRESBYTERY!

The 2nd GAC came to a successful close yesterday evening (11th April), bringing to an end a four-day gathering that brought together participants from all regions and presbyteries across the country.

The final day featured presentations of reports and resolutions, including those from the Moderator’s report following the committee formed on Wednesday, the Secretary General’s report, Communications Department, Missions and BSR Board, and the Presbyterian Foundation. The day was further enriched by uplifting choir presentations from Kaptagat Nendeni Area and Ayub Kinyua Parish.

One of the key resolutions adopted from the Moderator’s report addressed the need to clearly distinguish the Woman’s Guild headscarf from those of other denominations. This follows past cases of mistaken identity and misunderstanding. It was agreed that the Woman’s Guild will revert to the original style of tying the headscarf, allowing the unique colours on the hem to be clearly visible.

The day also marked the launch of a book by Ev. Dr. Samuel G. Gitonga titled ‘The Economy of the Pulpit’

The GAC concluded in a celebratory mood with the presentation of various awards, including the Finance Committee trophies and the prestigious Moderatorial Trophy. Aberdare Presbytery emerged as the overall winner, followed by Kiambu and Githunguri Presbyteries in second and third place respectively.

The Moderatorial Trophy is awarded based on rankings by the Moderatorial Trophy Committee and recognizes the presbytery that highly demonstrates excellence in spiritual and physical growth, consistent financial support to the Church, and clear, forward-looking plans for the future.

GAC 2026 IS COMING TO ELDORET

The 2nd General Administration Committee (GAC) of the 24th General Assembly will take place from 7th to 11th April 2026 in the Rift Valley Region, hosted by Eldoret Presbytery at Pioneer Parish. As is tradition, the opening day will have a divine service in remembrance of ministers who have passed on.

The GAC meets to receive progress reports on the performance of the Church across its groups, departments, and presbyteries. It also reviews and makes decisions on matters that cannot wait for the next General Assembly(which takes place after three years). On behalf of the Assembly, the GAC passes resolutions, offers approvals, and makes recommendations. Additionally, it adjudicates internal matters and articulates the Church’s position on issues affecting the Church, the nation, and families.

One year after the 1st GAC, several key achievements have been realized, including:
• Admission of men to Holy Communion based on faith, even without a church wedding
• Continued subdivision of parishes
• Licensing and ordination of 61 ministers
• Establishment of a new mission hospital in Rumuruti
• Completion of a three-storey building in partnership with PCEA Sacco
• Ongoing engagement in national development and public affairs
• Strengthened collaborations with other faith-based institutions
• Campaigns to combat alcoholism in communities
• Completion of a church in Uganda and preparatory work for a new project in Arusha
• Continued commitment to being an ambassador of hope to the people

This year’s GAC will also mark the presentation of final reports by the Moderator of the 24th General Assembly and the Secretary General, as they enter their sixth and final year in office.

The organizing committee, led by the Deputy Secretary General, has been working diligently to ensure all arrangements are in place for a smooth and successful GAC.

All proceedings will be broadcast live on Kirk Tv Kenya.
