DAY 3
WHAT DRIVES YOU/YOUR LIFE?
Have you ever felt like all isn't well and nothing seems working as you expected? Meaning, you feel low and bored in everything. Today we are going to ask ourselves, are we doing what is expected of us from our personal manual...just like any Gadget, comes with a manual, so do we, we have each one of us a manual...what I am good at, most likely will not work for you and vice versa...we are uniquely designed.
So, what is a drive?
DRIVE- Is a guide, a control or directing at that particular time...
One can be driven by a problem, pressure, unconscious belief etc..
The most common Drives in life are:-
1) GUILT
-This is spending one's entire life running from shame to regrets. This is more so based on memories/past brought into now. They punish themselves by sabotaging their own success.
-This guilt disconnects one from God hence lost of purpose in life(Genesis4:12).
-Though we are products of our past, we can come out of it.e.g. Moses was turned from a murderer to a leader, Gideon from a coward to a courageous Hero etc.
-God is a new starter who specializes in giving a new beginning.(Psalms 32:1)-It is God who forgives us our past and gives us our past, and gives us a new beginning. Don't let your past hold you.
2) RESENTMENT & ANGER
- Holding on to hurts and never letting it go. Rehearsing pain over and over in ones mind. Some hood up this anger internally and some blow it up and release it to others.
NB
-They that hurt you then, cannot continue doing it unless you allow resentment.
-Fact is, past happened and nothing can change it. So don't stay in bitterness. Learn from your past and let it go.(Job5:2). Worry not yourself to death.
3) FEAR
-This can be from a traumatic experience, unknown expectations, High-Control from e.g. home, or genetic predispositions. This hoods one from trying hence lose of Great opportunities.
-Fear is self motivated keeping one from becoming what God intended one to be.
We overcome fear by the weapon of Faith and love. (John6:18), where there's perfect love, there's no fear
4) MATERIALISM
-Desire to acquire as a goal in ones life. It is based on a lie that having more will make one happy, more important, secure, but all these are untrue. Possessions only provide a temporal happiness. There's always desire to get a particular thing, but once you acquire it, you become used to it and a new need arises and the cycle continues. It is also a myth that if I get more I become more important. FACT, self worth and Net Worth aren't the same.
-Your value isn't equal to what you have or valuables.
-Another myth is that your money is or can be a secure thing whereas this is a lie for The real security is only based on what you can't loose I e. Your relationship with God.
5) NEED FOR APPROVAL
Based on expectations of others.e.g. from parents, children, teachers etc. Unfortunately, expectations from crowd leads one to lose big time. One of the keys to failure is to try to please everyone. Wanting to know what they feel about your idealogies etc.(Matthew6:24)..
-Your cannot serve people's opinions and yourself. So don't stress yourself unnecessarily. Get back to God for your purpose in life for no success, wealth, fame, pleasure etc, can compensate for what God created you to be. Without purpose, life is trivial, petty, and pointless.
BENEFITS IF PURPOSE DRIVEN LIFE..
a) MEANINGFUL LIFE
We are to have a meaningful life bearing almost everything for without this, life is unbearable. So, without God life has no purpose and without God life has no purpose and without meaningful life, it becomes insignificant/Importance/benefit/sweetness or hope.(Isaiah49:4)-Isaiah expresses his fear, to have labored to no purpose, having his strength to vain and nothing.
-Job7:6-Job expressed his days dragging by day by day without hope and nothing to show. (Job7:16) making him to give-up, in living for there's no sense in it. Therefore, the greatest tragedy in life isn't death but life without a purpose.
-Hope is necessary for survival just as water is and air is. Hope comes from having a purpose in life. Have you ever felt hopeless,? Hold on for God is saying (Jeremiah 29:11), I have a plan for you, a good plan, not to hurt you, but to give you hope and a good future.
-Are you facing an impossibility in your life? (Ephe3:20)-God who is able to do exceedingly, abundantly, above all that which you could ever think or imagine is for you, worry not.
b) SIMPLIFIES LIFE
-Helps one in what to do and not to do. Helps one in what to do and not Todo. Helps one evaluate/Equate what activities are essential and which ones aren't.
-You ask yourself "does this activity help me fulfill one of God's purpose for my life?"
-Without Purpose, you lack foundation on what is
b) SIMPLIFIES LIFE
-Helps one in what to do and not to do. Helps one in what to do and not Todo. Helps one evaluate/Equate what activities are essential and which ones aren't.
-You ask yourself "does this activity help me fulfill one of God's purpose for my life?"
-Without Purpose, you lack foundation on what decision allocation of your time and use of your resources. Lack of purpose leads to too much stresses fatigue and conflict
*One just have enough time to do God's will, if you find yourself not accomplishing within the time frame, you have, then note, you are doing too much. Purpose Driven life leads to simpler lifestyle and saner schedule.(Proverbs13:7). There's also peace of mind(Isaiah46:3)
c)FOCUS IN LIFE
Concentrating on what is important in life. You become expert in selecting, getting what is important for you.
-Without clean purpose, you keep changing directions, jobs, Relationships, Churches etc, in hope of settling confusion or filling an emptiness in your heart which never comes to fulfilment because of lack of focus and peace of mind which are the real.(Ephe5:17) Getting to know the Will of God for your life.
d) MOTIVATION IN LIFE
Purpose Produce Passion(3Ps)
Meaninglessness wears us down, Saps our strength, and robs our joy.
-True joy on life comes when one is used up for a purpose recognized by oneself/Themselves and becoming a force of nature instead of a feverish etc.
e) PREPARES ONE FOR ETERNITY
-A good legacy isn't what people say of you when you are gone but what God says about you.
FACT-Achievement surpasses records, are broken, reputations fade and tributes are forgotten.
An earthly legacy is a short-sighted goal but a wiser use of time is built in an eternal legacy.
-One day we will give an audit of our lives before God, a final exam before we enter our eternity (Romans14:10b)
-Everyday of our lives is a test and God wants us to pass this test. The test will be based on His word and will. Two questions:-
1) What did we do With His son Jesus Christ? i.e. die accept Jesus and What he did for us on calvary and whether you did trust and love him?(John14:6)
2) What did you do with what you were given? What you did with your gifts, talents, opportunities, energies, Relationships and resources God gave you? This second question will determine what you do in eternity..
