The Holy Communion as a covenant meal
part 2
Luke 22:15-21
Jesus this time had been to thirty passovers but he told the disciples that he had desired to eat this specific Passover and had eagerly waited for it.
There was something special and unique about this Passover because it would fulfill the whole Passover covenant .
It was bigger because it could change everything forever and thus says He has been waiting for "this one".
He ate the Passover with the disciples and afterwards it was called the Holy Communion.
Passover was historical but communion is given in church hence power in the Holy Communion.
People used to killed a lamb for their deliverance but we take the Holy Communion for our deliverance.
That's why Jesus referred to it as last supper not because it was the last meal but the last supper of the Passover, the finishing of the past covenant and begining of the new covenant.
He says He'll not eat it again until it's fullfiled in the kingdom of God but He is not actually referring to heaven but says that the next time he does it it will be with him and the holy spirit.
So this means the Holy spirit is Jesus in His limited form.
Anytime we partake the cup He is also taking it with us thus the name communion which means partner ship, cooperation etc
So communion helps us have a fellowship with Jesus so we can know him better.
Verses 19:
He took the bread broke it and gave them saying to them "this is my body"the writer Luke speaks out of experience what he saw and heard.
Verses 20:
You will notice only with the cup he speaks of the new covenant.
1 Corinthians 11:23
Paul was not present in the braking of the bread but gives us the same turn of events Luke gives us.
Q did Paul believe I the lord's table?
did he take it?
whatever Luke received in the flesh Paul received it in the spirit.
Verses 24.
This is my body which is given for U so that u may receive the benefit in it to reap whenever you partake it.
When we fail to take the communion we loose the benefits in it.
The body was broken so that when we take it our broken body will be made whole, this is a price that's already paid for.
Take the body because when we take it takes away our sins., it's broken for me.
It's illegal for the devil to charge you twice for what Jesus has already paid for once.
Jesus says also that "do this in remembrance of me"
The bread resembles the pain but the cup resembles the new covenant, renewal of the past painful experience's.
Whenever we do it we proclaim and not mourn.
Keep declaring what Jesus did for us until there is manifestation.
It should be a process but not an event and that's why He says we do it in remembrance of Him.
verses 29
For anyone who eats and drinks without recognizing the meaning of the Communion the person is declaring judgment on himself.
We receive it as a substitute.we take it and give Jesus whatever is weighing us down eg pain.
