THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A PROPHET AND A DIVINER
When it comes to ministry gifts, the office of a prophet is often the most misunderstood and controversial.
Why? Because the enemy has always tried to imitate what God establishes.
The Bible shows that alongside true prophets, there have always been false ones and diviners who operate by another spirit (Deuteronomy 18:10–12).
Child of God, understand this:
Not everything that is accurate is from God.
In Acts 16:16–18, a girl with a spirit of divination spoke facts about Paul, yet Paul rebuked the spirit. Why? Because the source was not God.
Diviners seek:
- Personal gain (Micah 3:11)
- Money and rewards (2 Peter 2:15)
- Recognition and control
True prophets seek:
- The glory of God (1 Peter 4:11)
- To turn hearts back to God (Malachi 4:5–6)
- To edify, exhort, and comfort the church (1 Corinthians 14:3)
A true prophet will always align with the Word of God, exalt Christ, and produce godly fruit, not bo***ge, fear, or manipulation.
Jesus warned in Matthew 7:16: “By their fruits you shall know them.”
So be watchful. Test every spirit (1 John 4:1).
Do not be carried away by accuracy, look at the source, the motive, and the fruit.
Be rooted in the Word, led by the Spirit, and you will not be deceived.
Beware, but also be discerning. God still speaks.
