MASOMO YA MISA JUNI 5, 2026
ALHAMISI, JUMA LA 9 LA MWAKA

KUMBUKUMBU YA MTAKATIFU BONIFASI, ASKOFU NE MFIADINI

SOMO 1
2 Tim. 3 :10-17

Zab. 119 : 157, 160-161, 165-166, 168 (K) 165

(K) Wana amani nyingi waipendao sheria yako.

Wakuu wameniudhi bure,
ila moyo wangu unayahofia maneno yako.
Wana amani nyingi waipendao sheria yako,
wala hawana la kuwakwaza. (K)

Ee Bwana, nimeungojea wokovu wako,
na maagizo yako nimeyatenda.
Nimeyashika mauasi yako na shuhuda zako,
maana njia zangu zote zi mbele zako. (K)

SHANGILIO
Zab. 111 :7, 8

2 Timothy 3:10-17

You know what I have taught, how I have lived, what I have aimed at; you know my faith, my patience and my love; my constancy and the persecutions and hardships that came to me in places like Antioch, Iconium and Lystra – all the persecutions I have endured; and the Lord has rescued me from every one of them. You are well aware, then, that anybody who tries to live in devotion to Christ is certain to be attacked; while these wicked impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving others and deceived themselves.

You must keep to what you have been taught and know to be true; remember who your teachers were, and how, ever since you were a child, you have known the holy scriptures – from these you can learn the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All scripture is inspired by God and can profitably be used for teaching, for refuting error, for guiding people’s lives and teaching them to be holy. This is how the man who is dedicated to God becomes fully equipped and ready for any good work.

Your word is founded on truth,

Though princes oppress me without cause

At that time while teaching in the Temple, Jesus said, ‘How can the scribes maintain that the Christ is the son of David? David himself, moved by the Holy Spirit, said:

The Lord said to my Lord:
Sit at my right hand
and I will put your enemies
under your feet.

David himself calls him Lord, in what way then can he be his son?’ And the great majority of the people heard this with delight.

HIDE NOT THE CROSS

“You are well aware, then, that anybody who tries to live in devotion to Christ is certain to be attacked.” An honest confession about the Christian way! Paul does not try to sweeten the Gospel call with exaggerated promises, or tone down the consequences of saying yes to it and neither should we. Evangelization is never about ‘selling’ the story of Jesus to others; yes, we must win over souls for Christ, but never at the expense of the truth in its purest form. Discipleship has a cost, and we must never cover it up just to make Christianity more appealing. We must never hide the cross of Christ.

What are some of the ways that we might do that? Perhaps when we are asked the tough “Why did God do this to me?” questions, and try to ‘speak for God,’ interpreting His ways without sincere Spirit-guided discernment. Perhaps when we make assurances that in exchange for ‘faithfulness’ God will shower material blessings - physical healing, answering of prayers, prosperity, etc. - sidelining, in the bargain, the centrality of the cross. Perhaps when we keep hidden from others, and especially our children, the spiritual struggle involved in the act of faith when times are tough, in embracing God’s will when suffering comes, in fighting temptation and bearing the burden of human frailty, thus painting a false image of an easy journey. Perhaps when we preach of love but never share our own difficult journey in overcoming hurt; when we praise charity but are quiet about the pain of sacrifice; when we talk of hope but refuse to reach out when in despair.

The Lord never hid the cost of discipleship – neither in words nor in deeds. His moment in the garden of Gethsemane is a testament to it. “Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me; yet, not my will but yours be done.” He trembled at the cost but chose to keep walking anyway. The Christian way isn’t easy, but it is the necessary path to salvation. When we refuse to hide this mystery, we do not weaken the Gospel; we reveal its power, because only Christ can sustain us in the hour of trial.

Response: The lovers of your law have great peace, Lord.

2Tim. 2:8-15

Kwa maana, k**a tukifa pamoja naye, tutaishi pamoja naye pia; k**a tukistahimili, tutamiliki pamoja naye; k**a tukimkana yeye, yeye naye atatukana sisi; k**a sisi hatuamini, yeye hudumu wa kuaminiwa.

Tumshukuru Mungu.

WIMBO WA KATIKATI

(K) Ee Bwana, unijulishe njia zako.

Ee Bwana, unijulishe njia zako,
Unifundishe mapito yako,

Maana Wewe ndiwe Mungu wa wokovu wangu,
Nakungoja Wewe mchana kutwa.
Bwana yu mwema, mwenye adili,
Kwa hiyo atawafundisha wenye dhambi njia.
Wenye upole atawaongoza katika hukumu,
Wenye upole atawafundisha njia yake. (K)

Naye atawajulisha agano lake. (K)

SHANGILIO

INJILI
Mk. 12: 28-34

Wala hakuthubutu mtu kumsaili neno tena tokea hapo.

Neno la Bwana... Sifa kwako Ee Kristo.

2 Timothy 2:8-15

Remember the Good News that I carry, ‘Jesus Christ risen from the dead, sprung from the race of David’; it is on account of this that I have my own hardships to bear, even to being chained like a criminal – but they cannot chain up God’s news. So I bear it all for the sake of those who are chosen, so that in the end they may have the salvation that is in Christ Jesus and the eternal glory that comes with it.

Here is a saying that you can rely on:

If we have died with him, then we shall live with him.
If we hold firm, then we shall reign with him.
If we disown him, then he will disown us.
We may be unfaithful, but he is always faithful,
for he cannot disown his own self.

Remind them of this; and tell them in the name of God that there is to be no wrangling about words: all that this ever achieves is the destruction of those who are listening. Do all you can to present yourself in front of God as a man who has come through his trials, and a man who has no cause to be ashamed of his life’s work and has kept a straight course with the message of the truth.

Lord, make me know your ways.

Lord, make me know your ways.
Lord, teach me your paths.
Make me walk in your truth, and teach me:
for you are God my saviour.

In you I hope all day long
The Lord is good and upright.
He shows the path to those who stray,
He guides the humble in the right path,
He teaches his way to the poor.

His ways are faithfulness and love
for those who keep his covenant and law.
The Lord’s friendship is for those who revere him;
to them he reveals his covenant.

Mark 12:28-34

One of the scribes came up to Jesus and put a question to him, ‘Which is the first of all the commandments?’ Jesus replied, ‘This is the first: Listen, Israel, the Lord our God is the one Lord, and you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: You must love your neighbour as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these.’ The scribe said to him, ‘Well spoken, Master; what you have said is true: that he is one and there is no other. To love him with all your heart, with all your understanding and strength, and to love your neighbour as yourself, this is far more important than any holocaust or sacrifice.’ Jesus, seeing how wisely he had spoken, said, ‘You are not far from the kingdom of God.’ And after that no one dared to question him any more.

PERFECTION OF LOVE

Saint Teresa of Avila tells us “The more advanced you see you are in the love for your neighbour, the more advanced you will be in the love of God. We will not reach perfection in the love of neighbour if that love doesn’t rise from the love of God as its root. By observing the love of God and the love of neighbour we do His will and so will be united with Him.”

The first reading speaks about proclaiming Jesus Christ raised from the dead by conforming ourselves to the paschal mystery of Christ, by bearing everything, for the sake of those who are chosen so that they too may obtain salvation. As followers of Christ, we are called to suffer hardships with Christ and for Christ, and to hold out to the end with Him, to persevere in our struggles in order to be faithful to Jesus. Saint Paul reminds us that God is faithful even when we are unfaithful to Him. In the Gospel, a friendly scribe comes to Jesus and asks Him, “which commandment is the first of all?” Jesus gently makes him realize that he still has to experience something greater than keeping the commandments, to experience God’s gift of divine life and love.

Jesus has taught us to love God by revealing God’s extravagant love for us. God is a loving Father who loves us, He gave us His beloved Son, to be the sacrifice for our sins. Jesus has taught us to love our neighbour by a self-emptying love: humbling himself and washing the feet of His disciples as an act of service, by teaching His disciples, that a man can have no greater love than to give his life for his friends. Saint Teresa of Avila speaking of spiritual love says” spiritual love seems to be imitating that love which the good Jesus had for us – a love with no self-interest. All that it desires or wants is to see the other soul rich with heavenly blessings, for everything done with a pure intention is perfect love.

Response: O Lord, make me know your ways.

2 Tim 1: 1-3, 6-12;
Zab 122: 1-2;
Mk 12: 18-27.

Sala. Bwana Yesu, hatuweze kuwa Wakristo wenye kuzaa matunda mema k**a tutajitenga nawe. Tunaomba utusaidie tuweze kupata kitambulisho chetu, kuishi kwetu na maisha yetu kutoka kwako. Amina.

2 Timothy 1:1-3,6-12

From Paul, appointed by God to be an apostle of Christ Jesus in his design to promise life in Christ Jesus; to Timothy, dear child of mine, wishing you grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and from Christ Jesus our Lord.

Night and day I thank God, keeping my conscience clear and remembering my duty to him as my ancestors did, and always I remember you in my prayers. That is why I am reminding you now to fan into a flame the gift that God gave you when I laid my hands on you. God’s gift was not a spirit of timidity, but the Spirit of power, and love, and self-control. So you are never to be ashamed of witnessing to the Lord, or ashamed of me for being his prisoner; but with me, bear the hardships for the sake of the Good News, relying on the power of God who has saved us and called us to be holy – not because of anything we ourselves have done but for his own purpose and by his own grace. This grace had already been granted to us, in Christ Jesus, before the beginning of time, but it has only been revealed by the Appearing of our saviour Christ Jesus. He abolished death, and he has proclaimed life and immortality through the Good News; and I have been named its herald, its apostle and its teacher.

It is only on account of this that I am experiencing fresh hardships here now; but I have not lost confidence, because I know who it is that I have put my trust in, and I have no doubt at all that he is able to take care of all that I have entrusted to him until that Day.

Mark 12:18-27

Some Sadducees – who deny that there is a resurrection – came to him and they put this question to him, ‘Master, we have it from Moses in writing, if a man’s brother dies leaving a wife but no child, the man must marry the widow to raise up children for his brother. Now there were seven brothers. The first married a wife and then died leaving no children. The second married the widow, and he too died leaving no children; with the third it was the same, and none of the seven left any children. Last of all the woman herself died. Now at the resurrection, when they rise again, whose wife will she be, since she had been married to all seven?’

Jesus said to them, ‘Is not the reason why you go wrong, that you understand neither the scriptures nor the power of God? For when they rise from the dead, men and women do not marry; no, they are like the angels in heaven. Now about the dead rising again, have you never read in the Book of Moses, in the passage about the Bush, how God spoke to him and said: I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob? He is God, not of the dead, but of the living. You are very much mistaken.’
