Message Title: Facing the Impossible
Theme Scripture: Mark 15:22-27, 33-37
📖 Mark 15:22, 24, 26-27 NKJV
[22] And they brought Him to the place Golgotha, which is translated, Place of a Skull.
[24] And when they crucified Him, they divided His garments, casting lots for them to determine what every man should take.
[26] And the inscription of His accusation was written above: THE KING OF THE JEWS.
[27] With Him they also crucified two robbers, one on His right and the other on His left.
📖 Mark 15:33-37 NKJV
[33] Now when the sixth hour had come, there was darkness over the whole land until
the ninth hour.
[34] And at the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?” which is translated, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”
[35] Some of those who stood by, when they heard that, said, “Look, He is calling for Elijah!”
[36] Then someone ran and filled a sponge full of sour wine, put it on a reed, and offered it to Him to drink, saying, “Let Him alone; let us see if Elijah will come to take Him down.”
[37] And Jesus cried out with a loud voice, and breathed His last.
✍️ Jesus faced the impossible through the Cross so that we can inherit eternal life
✍️ There are reasons many why we should remember the cross, including;
✅ The Cross brings love
📖 I John 3:1 NKJV
[1] Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.
📖 Romans 5:8 NKJV
[8] But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
📖 Deuteronomy 7:9 NKJV
[9] “Therefore know that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments;
✅ The Cross gives us liberty
📖 Hebrews 2:14-15 NKJV
[14] Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil,
[15] and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bo***ge.
📖 Hebrews 9:22 NKJV
[22] And according to the law almost all things are purified with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no remission.
✅The Cross brings life
📖 John 3:13-14 NKJV
[13] No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven.
[14] And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up,
📖 John 17:1-3 NKJV
[1] Jesus spoke these words, lifted up His eyes to heaven, and said: “Father, the hour has come. Glorify Your Son, that Your Son also may glorify You,
[2] as You have given Him authority over all flesh, that He should give eternal life to as many as You have given Him.
[3] And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.
📖 I Peter 2:24 NKJV
[24] who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed.
✍️ There can be no love without forgiveness
✍️ Darkness illustrated in Mark 15:33-34 symbolized judgment of sin
✍️ Forgiveness is costly but we must endeavour to seek it all times
✍️ Cross has no meaning without shedding of blood
✍️ The cross is about death but it brings life to all mankind
