THE PIT IS JUST A PIT STOP
From the message, “Lessons from the Pit” by Dave Cutar

GRAB THE BOOK! https://a.co/d/1IciSGp

It was not strangers who threw Joseph in that pit, it was his own brothers. People that he loved. The reason why betrayal and lies are so painful is because they're committed by people that you trust. Those that were supposed to take care of you and protect you. They conspired and talked behind his back, deceived, lied on him, turned their backs and attacked him at a time when he least expected it, he was betrayed by the very people that he thought was closest to him.

He was just bringing food to them. But instead of being welcomed with open arms, they laid hold of him to hurt him.

So while Joseph was crying for help his brothers were eating the food that he had brought. People that you've fed, you've helped, some of them will not even bother to help you in time of trials.

The pit has a way of thinning out the people that you don't need in your life. When things are bleak, you'll know who your real friends are. Some people you hang with you don't need to be hanging with. That is why God brings you sometimes to a season of trial. Sometimes it's not for you. It's for the people that tries to latch on to you so that they can no longer influence you.

God is about to take you to another level where certain people can't hang with you but sometimes we put ourselves into these cliques that we try to hang with people and we try to gain acceptance by a certain group. But God has set us apart. That's the term holy. It means to be set apart for Him.

God has a plan for your life. And while you're trying to please certain people while you're trying to be in harmony with the world around you, while you want to blend in, God says I have to set you apart for my purpose so that you can be used for My glory.

So sometimes the pits in your life are pits of isolation. It is not isolation so that you can be sad, but just because you need to be separated.

In the day and age of the Internet and fast cars, Wi Fi speeds, technology and too much traffic and you've got work and you're trying to balance your work and your job and you're raising kids and you're like oh, there's just too many voices around us trying to catch our attention. So God puts us sometimes in a situation where it's just you and Him. And then he can start to talk to you. And you can start hearing his voice. And you begin to realize, even in this stressful moment, this is where I got to hear the voice of God this is where I have the opportunity to listen, this is where I have the opportunity to get back on track.

I am fascinated with these race cars I see on Formula 1 or NASCAR, but you'll see in these car races, in the midst of all the chaos, they will go to what is called a pit stop. You would think that in a race where every second counts, it seems that stopping for any length of time is counter productive. But no. The pitstop is not a distraction, it's necessary. You need to park to the pitstop so that you can have your tires renewed. You can be refueled. So that you can keep running the race.

The pit is not permanent, it’s just a pit stop. After that, you still have Potiphar’s house and the prison to deal with. But never lose sight of the promise. You’re on your way to the palace.

Our Father who art in heaven. We come before your throne this morning. Thank you Lord for the great things you have done in our lives. Lord we ask you to forgive us our sin and lead us not to temptation.God we bring our children into your able hands. Thank you Lord for showing yourself strong on them . Lord we pray that you will show them your ways and teach them your paths (Psalms 86;11). Lord we pray for your Spirit that impart wisdom, knowledge understanding and fear of God to fall upon us (Isaiah 11:2), and may He give us the courage and power (2 Timothy 1:7) that we may be able to boldly speak your word to them all through (Deuteronomy 11:19) and that this word will cause them to be transformed by renewal of their minds that may be able to know your true purpose (Romans 12:1-3). Lord help us prepare their hearts to be a fertile ground where your word will be a seed that bears fruits (Matthew Luke 8:4-18) and may your word become the very foundation upon which their lives will be built (Matthew 7:24-27)

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐠𝐨 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧?

Hmmmm… technically, letting go does not mean erasing a memory or ignoring the past; it is when you are no longer reacting to the things that used to make you feel tense and you are releasing the energy attached to a certain thoughts.

It takes self-awareness, intentional action, practice, and time. Letting go is the act of getting to know yourself so deeply that all delusions fall away.

If it’s necessary,
Let go of people
Let go of expectations
Let go of thoughts
Let go of rejections and etc.

What’s done is done… And it’s time to redirect your LENS, focusing on what matters.

The truth is, letting go is one of the hardest things to do. It’s so easy to try to hold on to things, but biblically we must trust that our Lord has something better. Letting go is easier when we realize that God is in control. Realize that God has allowed and used these things and these people in your life to build us up.

I never said letting go wouldn’t be painful. I never said I wouldn’t cry, I wouldn’t have hurt, i wouldn’t feel confused, etc. I know personally that it hurts so bad. No one understands the pain that I am feeling at the moment except for me and God. That is why I bring my pain to God.

Sometimes the pain hurts so much that I can’t even speak. I have to speak with my heart desperately and say,
“God , I don’t understand why it’s happening but you know. I’m letting go , Help! Help me!”

It says from Proverbs 3:5 -6
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him and he will make your paths straight.”

God knows the disappointment, frustration, the pain, and the worry in me. The journey is still long and I can’t afford to carry these burdens while walking towards the great unknown.

Sometimes i have to cry out for this special peace that He gives in prayer to help me cope with the situation. It is this special peace that has given me a sound mind and contentment in my situation time and time again. It is like Jesus is giving me an everlasting hug that helps me recover.

Like a good father He lets me know that everything is going to be “OK.”

The pain is just temporary, but the fruit of letting go will be permanent.

Now as I move forward , I cling to James 1:2-4 saying ,

“My friends, consider yourselves fortunate when all kinds of trials come your way, for you know that when your faith succeeds in facing such trials, the result is the ability to endure. Make sure that your endurance carries you all the way without failing, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.”

God bless 🙂
