Today, Mombasa Youth Council Assembly Clerk, Hon. Paul Evance Kidero Odhiambo, represented the Mombasa Youth Council at a Public Participation Forum on the Draft Election Campaign Financing Regulations and Proposed Campaign Contributions and Spending Limits, chaired by Commissioner Anne Nderitu, CBS.
The engagement brought together stakeholders to deliberate on strengthening campaign finance through transparency, accountability, political equity and electoral integrity.
Discussions focused on the objectives of the proposed regulations, campaign expenditure, criteria for determining spending limits, and proposed expenditure ceilings for ward, constituency and county elections.
Stakeholders also shared views on data protection, enforcement, election security, social media and blogger regulation, and measures to curb vote buying. The submissions are expected to contribute to the refinement of the final regulations.
The Mombasa Youth Council appreciates the opportunity to contribute to conversations that shape Kenya's democratic and electoral processes. Meaningful youth participation in governance and public policy remains central to building a credible, inclusive and accountable democracy.
