Yesterday, 2nd September 2026, the Principal Deputy to the Deputy Inspector-General of the Administration Police Service (APS), Dr. Masoud Mwinyi, SAIG, represented the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Douglas Kanja, at the National Stakeholders Convention on Democratic, Credible and Peaceful 2027 Elections, held at Ufungamano House, Nairobi.

The two-day convention, convened by the Kenya Religious Leaders Forumโ€”comprising the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB), the National Council of Churches of Kenya (NCCK), the Evangelical Alliance of Kenya, and the Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims (SUPKEM)โ€”served as a critical multi-sectoral platform for assessing the readiness of various actors ahead of the 2027 electoral cycle. Dynamic, lively conversations and meaningful dialogue among all participants defined today's convention.

Delivering the Inspector-Generalโ€™s remarks, Dr. Masoud Mwinyi emphasised that the Serviceโ€™s operational approach remains firmly anchored in the core principles of professionalism, impartiality and accountability. He assured stakeholders that the NPS will continue to uphold the highest standards of discipline, respect for human rights, and the rule of law.

Dr. Masoud also reiterated the National Police Service's unwavering commitment to early security planning and multi-agency and multi-stakeholder collaboration. He reminded the convention that public safety and national security are a collective responsibility, and urged members of the public to actively cooperate with the National Police Service by sharing vital information to curb crime and maintain public safety.

Also present at the convention were representatives from the National Cohesion and Integration Commission, the media, the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights, the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, and other key actors.
