HISTORICAL BACKGRUOND
Miracle Revival Fellowship Pentecostal Church was founded in the late 1950s by Missionary Elisha Ingosi Chitayi and his wife Mrs. The duo firmly believed that God is still capable of performing the miracles and wonders He used to perform to His people during biblical times but wondered why this was no longer the case in the churches; brethren no longer living by faith, crippl
ing poverty among brethren, no more divine healing and brethren holy lives severely compromised. Upon seeking God for answers as to why this was so, God revealed to them:
1.THAT churches have reasoned away His commandments and mixed them with modernism.
2.THAT shepherds have turned from feeding the flock, bringing again the lost, binding up the broken, and healing the sick, to eating the fat, clothing themselves with the wool, and ruling with force and cruelty. (Ezek. 34:1-10)
3.THAT power politics has replaced the leading of the Spirit of God in many religious organizations having a form of government which permits the exercise of politics, to such an extent that God's people have been brought into bo***ge. (Zech. 4:6)
God told them that if they were to raise an army of men and women who are not satisfied with religious bo***ge, under some religious Pharaoh (whose only goal is to build his own kingdom) then they will have to teach their congregation to obey every commandment and believe in all the promises of God regardless of the changing times because God does not change and so are His ways. God gave them the scriptures of (John 17:21), "That they all may be one as thou, father, art in me, and i in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me"; (James 5:16) "Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much", and (Hebrews 12:14) "Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord". (Proverbs 3:9-10) "Honour the Lord with thy substance, and the firstfruits of all thyn increase: So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine". Because their thirst was to provide a fellowship without bo***ge - where brethren could fellowship around Jesus Christ, unite as one body of believers to preach the Gospel and eventually crown Jesus Lord, they made a firm commitment to dedicate their lives to redeem the many sheep wounded by false shepherds and torn by wolves, wandering, confused and alone upon the mountains. By early sixties (1960s), God confirmed their calling with signs, wonders and miracles which awakened His people to the reality of their God and caused them to know He was delivering them out of bo***ge. Dreadful diseases were healed, curses of poverty broken and people started enjoying God's provisions, broken families were reunited and hope was restored to the hopeless. This was the beginning of a world wide revival which by mid eighties (1980s) had already swept the East African region. For a while, they tried to pass the message to other denominations, but the message was so unique that it was not easy to accept. This necessitated the birth of Miracle Revival Fellowship Pentecostal Church, initially housed in the founder's residence at Mariakani, a coastal town in Kenya where the ministry headquarters are currently situated. Rasoa Ikonyi Elisha as the president of the ministry while Pastor/Evangelist Joseph G. Katana took over as the ministry director. In 1998, Pastor/Evangelist Joseph G. Katana was also promoted to glory after having strengthened the ministry in the same tenets as laid by the founding father Missionary Elisha Ingosi Chitayi. Reverend/Evangelist Musa Idi took over as the ministry director in 1998. Together with the founding mother and president of the ministry, Mrs. Rasoa Ikonyi Elisha, have spearheaded the revival to a point where the ministry's operational network now consists of over three hundred church branches in East Africa reaching brethren who are looking for spiritual fellowship which is real and tangible and will provide encouragement, spiritual assistance, business and professional guidance, unity and brotherhood without bo***ge; a fellowship operating on the principal that love worketh no ill to his neighbour, therefore love is the fulfilling of the law (Rom 13:10). The meek, down to earth, self disciplined servant of the Lord took over the Ministry leadership in mid 2013. Pastor Emmanuel Kea Mzungu has taken off with a rejuvenated Zeal that has seen the church celebrate the 55th anniversary-which was his own initiative. During the 55th anniversary the 5 storey building initiated by the shepherd Evangelist Musa Iddi was completed and officially opened by the founder Mother Rasoa I. The ladies hostel is named “MWANZILISHI HOUSE” in honour of the founder mother, for her unrelenting service to the ministry. As an indicator of his acceptance by the church fraternity the church revival crusades are overwhelmingly attended by the Ministry congregation. Under the leadership of the selfless meek, self disciplined leadership of the servant of the Lord, Pastor Emmanuel Kea Mzungu, the ministry is destined to grow to greater heights. THE GOSPEL FLAME BURNS ON. With the church motto of “That they all may be one” THE SKY IS NOT THE LIMIT”.
