The diocese of Malindi seeks support in setting up Radio BAYANA (Kiswahili name for the “plain, clarity, legible, certainty, famous, incontrovertible fact, well known”), for peace building, spiritual formation and human development within the dioce
se. The radio project shall serve as a mobilization tool for pastoral and human development. In addition, the radio will serve as a communication platform for the people of Malindi and be the voice of the people to air their concerns on development issues which include: unemployment, radicalization of the youth, inter-ethnic conflict, low enrolment in education, poverty, environmental conservation and the devastating effects of water related diseases in the Coastal Region etc. Our Coverage
The diocese covers an area of approximately 33, 254 square kilometres with an estimated population of 539,000 people. The diocese is under the patron of St. Francis Xavier – a Jesuit Priest who visited Malindi on his way to India and Japan in the year 1542 AD. The diocese has a pastoral centre which was inaugurated on 5th December 2014. Located in Malindi town, the centre houses the Catholic Secretariat, a vocational college for youth and Radio Bayana, the branch that serves as the Pastoral and Social Communication for the diocese. Location: The radio is located at the Catholic Institute, Near Malindi Complex in Malindi town, at the sub-county of Malindi, Kilifi County in the Coastal Region of Kenya.
