“So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time He will lift you up in honor.”
‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭5‬:‭6‬ ‭NLT‬‬

In the book of 1 Samuel, we get to read of a story of the wives of Elkanah of which Hannah, one of the wives, had no children and was deeply troubled by her situation. She then offers a prayer to God for a male child who she vows will be given entirely to the works of God all his life.

God answers her prayer beyond her expectation that she ends up having not just one as she had prayed but five kids in total. It’s through her that Samuel who becomes a great priest, a mediator between the nation and God comes, It’s Samuel that anoints the kings of Israel Saul and David later on.

Hannah is an example of one who humbled herself, trusted God and placed God’s priorities above her own and she was lifted up by God. In 1 Peter, we are encouraged to cast all our cares upon Him for God is concerned about our lives, cares and troubles. He desires that our focus be on Him (submit to Him) and not on our troubles or anxieties.

Submission in humility to God ensures He takes care of us as we focus on His work.
